“Highly Recommended Hotel in Puebla”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2014

This hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. The excellent staff all spoke English and were very helpful with our needs. The rooms are large and airy, clean and well maintained. The historic building is decorated in the local ambiance. And, unusual for a hotel, the food in its own restaurant is award winning and deservedly so. The continental breakfast was a great way to start the day out, but one should also try the breakfasts on the menu. Their signature mole is exquisite. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the historic center of Puebla on a quiet street, and stores for necessities are just across the street. To me, the small number of rooms is perfect, as it small enough for the staff to maintain a high level of service and it is quiet and restful. It was perfect for our week in Puebla and I highly recommend it.

Room Tip: There are fewer rooms on the second floor so feels more private, but you will have more stairs to cl...

Absolutely stunning find of a hotel! The hotel is in an excellent location - next to the San Francisco plaza and park and a quick walk downtown. The price for the quality of the stay was outstanding - the hotel is well decorated with beautiful Talavera pottery tastefully placed in the lobby, hallway, and room. The Talavera company that purveys the pottery is the best in Puebla - we visit Puebla often and have bought several pieces from there in the past few years. The hotel is a great way to soak up their pieces! We were impressed that there was a fruit plate upon arrival and a different type of traditional "dulce"/sweet. The booking had said no breakfast was included - but upon arrival we found out that there was a continental breakfast with great juice, coffee, ad a fruit/granola plate. We plan to return upon visiting Puebla the next time!

Room Tip: There isn't an elevator and all of the rooms are upstairs, so either pack accordingly or have so...

This is one of the finest hotels we've had the pleasure to stay in while in Mexico. The well appointed, spacious room, bathroom and restaurant are well worth every peso, not to mention the very helpful and friendly staff. This is a first class hotel in our opinion, located about four or five blocks from the center of town, therefore being a fairly quiet location. Both the hotel and restaurant are top notch. This venue has our highest recommendation.

Room Tip: Rooms as far away from the restaurant might be quieter.

Great service! The staff is really friendly and helpful which is hard to find... for some reason. The hotel is beautiful! Our room was decorated beautifully; simple, elegant, and comfortable. Location is excellent. It’s always nice being several blocks away from the main square because you get to the chance to wander a little and check out some more local shops and restaurants. The restaurant at the hotel is amazing! They have really great food and a really great atmosphere. Our room was located above the restaurant which is not super... I would recommend sound proofing that window just a little because the restaurant does close late. Besides that everything was great. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: Don't get a room close to the restaurant... it gets really noisy

Wonderfully located near Puebla's historic center, but far enough away to be quiet and tranquil. Can easily walk to most museums and attractions. Stunning modern design in an old style building. Our room (and I believe all the rooms) was spacious and decorated with original art, a very comfortable king sized bed with great linens, and a living room area for relaxing. The bathroom was very large and stylish (a hand decorated tile sink). High quality toiletries, and bottled water, were replaced daily. A perfect refuge from a busy day. Original art throughout the hotel, including a small gallery with an exhibit of paintings by Carmen Parra, whose work was also at the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo. The restaurant is very pleasant and the food is good. Finally, the service was excellent. Whether bringing us coffee to our room in the AM or helping us find a tour to Cholula, the staff could not have been more helpful.
Only continental breakfast is provided. If you want something hardier you have to pay extra. Most hotels in Mexico provide full breakfasts. PLEASE NOTE: on my rating of the swimming pool below, this is a MISTAKE there is NO POOL but I couldn't figure out how to erase my rating.

Room Tip: I believe most rooms are junior suites and all very nice. I think there is one master suite that ma...

The hotel's location, physical appearance and other great attributes are well described in other reviews. Our GPS had fallen prey to demonic possession so we had a bit of trouble locating the hotel and their website showed a different location, but the journey was worth it. This is simply the best value for money hotel we have encountered in many years, from its stunning interiors to its helpful staff.
As is noted in the restaurant reviews for Puebla, this is an excellent choice. Continuing the value for money theme, one gets superb imaginative cuisine for a reasonable price. If you like it, thank the chef; he appreciates it.

Room Tip: We stayed in a junior suite with a lovely patio, but it was a bit noisy at times being at the top of...
