We enjoyed two nights in the lovely Casareyna Hotel. You are welcomed by a friendly, personable and accommodating staff and handed a lovely, cold glass of horchata. There is a courtyard featuring some very old ruined walls from centuries past, beautifully designed and subtle plantings and some admirable sculpture. The rooms are quiet due to the thick, thick walls. The hallway does conduct sound quite well too, but everyone staying there seemed to figure that out quickly and we were never awoken by voices. Outside our windows was a tree described as an 'orchid tree' who's fuscia blossoms attracted two lively, jousting hummingbirds. The continental breakfast was good, the egg dishes even better. We were told it had the best food in Puebla but sadly didn't go there for dinner. Next time! Would go back in a heartbeat,

We stayed with our children at the hotel in September for 2 nights. The hotel is beautiful, large modern rooms. The hotel has everything that we were looking for: location, parking, free wifi and breakfast included in the rate.
The breakfast that is included is a fruit plate, a slice of sweet bread and juice and coffee or tea. You can order from the menu at additional cost.

We stayed in this boutique hotel over the Mexican Independence weekend 2012. It's a charming establishment renovated from a 16th century home with only a dozen or so rooms of varying sizes. We were with three very young children and this created problems entirely not of the hotel's making, but it would have been nice if they had put us on a lower floor, since there is no elevator and were up two very long flights of stairs. The staff was very friendly and many spoke very good English. The mole poblano was top notch!

Room Tip: Call ahead to negotiate a price.

We have stayed in many hotels and Casareyna is one of the finest we have ever stayed in during our many years of travel. Just giving this hotel five stars is not enough. As a travel agent you can become jaded with hotels. The experience of staying in an extraordinary boutique hotel like this is a breath of fresh air. The hotel is beautiful and no detail has been overlooked...including the amenity of a special pair of socks for bedtime. We have been in hotels all over the world and this was the first time we have ever this this amenity. I am sure in the winter with tile floors this is very welcome!

The Director Mr. Rodrigo Alvarez was outstanding. From the moment we checked in until our departure three days later he was informative, attentive, and always availiable. The rest of his staff definately follows his example. Everyone there made you feel they wanted you to be part of the Casareyne family. This was a beautiful home centuries ago and the Casareyna family has followed the wonderful traditions of welcoming guests into their "home".

The Hotel Boutique Casareyna is without a doubt a work of art. The designers/architects saw the potential in the ruins of this 16th century home and succeeded in bringing it back to life as a modern and comfortable hotel and restaurant, yet retaining the pieces that remind you that this was a home more than four centuries ago. They managed to incorporate much of the original material into the “new” building. The lighting all around the property is also an amazing accomplishment of subtlety and great taste.
There are just 10 rooms on the second and third floors. My room was very homey and attractive. The bathroom was absolutely beautiful. Large glass enclosed shower with a long vanity made of what I believe is caste concrete made to resemble stone.
The staff was very helpful, attentive and friendly. There is a boutique on the property that sells some of the finest Talavera ceramics in Puebla called, Talavera de la Reyna. The pieces are a mix of traditional and modern designs and the prices are very good.
The restaurant is excellent, although if your Spanish is not good or rusty you could experience some “lost-in-translation” moments. Try the chalupus; they are wonderful!
I stayed in room 205, which was located on the second floor with two windows (one in the living area and the other in the bathroom) that looked out over one of the hotel’s beautiful courtyards. My friend stayed in room 209, which was directly above me on the third floor. Same room design, yet different pictures, rugs, etc. I did notice that room 201 had its own private balcony.
The location is very good. There is a mall directly across the street with a movie theater as well as some coffee shops, an Italian restaurant and a Sanborns. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes-depending on your pace to walk to the Zocolo. It is also very close to the Mercardo El Parian and the Barrio del Artista and there is a taxi stand nearby. Cabs are fairly cheap but first inquire how much they will charge after you give them your destination. Don’t wait until they’ve dropped you at your destination.
The only negative for me was the bed; the mattress was too hard. I understand that some people prefer a very firm mattress; and I don’t like a soft one-I do like some firmness, however I was not completely comfortable sleeping on the mattress. Also, there were quite a few religious celebrations going on when we arrived on August 30 and continued until September 4. You could hear fireworks at different times, sometimes starting at midnight or later. That was not the hotel’s fault; they were just happening near the hotel. Other than that, everything was great!
