“Comfortable and practical - only $3 to center by taxi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2012

Many tips for a good room below.
We usually like the charming hotels in the center where we can do everything by foot. But I also like a swimming pool and we like playing tennis (2 courts with light at night). This hotel is about 3km from the center and 35 pesos by taxi. We can easily walk to the aqueduct in the morning then into the center and take a taxi to go back so the non-centric position was not a problem.
Rack rate is $220 (2,650 pesos) but you can get better deals. Breakfast is delicious and copious but very expensive (185 pesos, $15) so be sure to eat well or go outside the hotel, on the main road there are many other options. That being said, with the choice you have, you can easily make a lunch of this breakfast: Cesar salad, barbecue pork & beef, chicken, etc on top of typical breakfast fare.
On 5th floor we had a real desk and since this kind of hotel always thinks about coffee drinkers but not about tea drinkers, go to 4th floor (Executive) by the stairs and get your afternoon tea by the elevator!
Room with even numbers get the best view: cathedral, pool, tennis. Odd numbers get the convention center & periferico. High numbers 530 to 546 get sun in the morning. For the same price you get either 2 matrimonial beds (smaller than Queen) or a King, make sure you specify.
We slept extremely well. The restaurant was good despite a cafeteria look. I was pleased and surprised. The salmon was perfectly cooked. The mushroom cream with chipolte was delicious & copious. The service was very attentive and nice. A down side? They had 12 wines on the list but only 3 available.
Pool is open 8 to 8 and then provide a towel at the reception. Tennis is only 50 pesos an hour. They might rent/lend gear - we had our own.
The best restaurants are nearby (Miguelito & Troje), unfortunately closed on Sunday evening!!!

Room Tip: It's in my message. 530 to 546: great view & sunny.

“Nice hotel with great breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 29, 2012

Although at the edge of town the hotel's location was perfect for our departure to Uruapan the next day. The facade of the hotel was quite ordinary but the back area outside looked inviting and nicely groomed. The lobby was clean and spacious. The same can be said about the room with a good size bathroom. The free wireless worked flawlessly and the work area was fine. Overall the hotel may need some updating but that goes for most hotels these days. The room was quiet other than the occasional dog bark and the bed was comfortable. I had a great sleep.
We had a meal at the hotel restaurant and I found it very good. I don't know if this was usual but the free breakfast was full service with a lot of very good choices. It puts what is typically offered in North America to shame.

“Decent, but needs some updating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2012

I stayed several days at this hotel, and it was acceptable and I slept reasonably well. Its a bit out of the historic center of this lovely city by a few km. The rooms were in average condition, definitely could use some newer furniture and mattresses. The lobby also shows its vintage somewhat and the gym was small and somewhat disappointing given the nature of the equipment it had.
I thought the breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly throughout the hotel.
If you are expecting an American style Courtyard hotel or Marriott, this place will not meet your expectations. It is perfectly fine but shows its age and could use some updates.

“Nice hotel and great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2011

The hotel is nice. I stayed at the Executive Floor, but the problem is that there isn't a desk to work, there is only a round little table where you could work, but it isn´t very confortable. However, the staff was very helpful and any time I called to request something it was quickly delivered to my room. As others have already said, it is not in the downtown area, but since I attended a convention, it was the right place to stay and wi-fi was fast and free.
The restaurant is not really expensive and the food is good.

Room Tip: Try the executive floor (4th). Mornings and Evenings there is coffee, tea and purified water availa...

“everything i wanted”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2011

This hotel is slightly out of the main streets of downtown, but close enough if taking taxi's around. Set back in gardens this hotel is quiet and spread out, surrounded by trees and gardens which the central hotels don't have. And what sold me was the swimming pool. Perfect
