“A great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014 via mobile

It's a shame we could only spend a single night in this city because we loved our hotel. Every single detail about the hotel is so beautiful and elegant. Whoever decorated this place has great taste. The food in the restaurant is also excellent. We were too tired to go find somewhere to eat, and were pleasantly surprised after trying out the hotel's restaurant. Probably some of the best food I've had during my two weeks in Mexico. The only downside is that it can sometimes get a little noisy outside, and the wifi connection isn't always good in some of the farther rooms.

Estimada mariaristi

This is a great place to stay. My family went to Morelia for a wedding (We flew from California.) My daughter loved the place. She thought she was in the set of one of the Zorro movies. The rooms are modern without sacrificing the colonial appeal of Morelia. The beds are great. The food and service were great. The value is high. It's too bad more Americans like myself aren't visiting Morelia. Morelia and its surroundings have a lot to offer and it is quite safe, especially when you are attended by the staff of this hotel. I can recommend this place, and Morelia and its surroundings, without any hesitation.

Don't miss the Casa de Artesanía in the San Francisco convent. It has arts and crafts from all over the state of Michoacán, including Pátzcuaro, Santa Clara del Cobre, etc. It's within walking distance of this hotel, as are most of the historic sights of Morelia.

Room Tip: Consulte el personal del hotel.

How glad we were to have picked this hotel to stay in for 4 nights! Beautiful rooms and bathrooms are updated; wonderful linens, comfortable beds; modern rain shower and swirl sinks; lots a light and light-up makeup mirror. Some of the courtyard was under construction but did not hinder our enjoyment. Personnel; desk clerks, porters and waiting staff were all super nice to us! Courtyard is beautiful; day and at night. Breakfast were the full deal; real juice and eggs, your choice with buns and pastries. I love it when the waiter sets your napkin on your lap. I felt like a queen! We received a welcoming cocktail and 10% off at restaurant. There was some street noise when window shutter was open. This was the nicest hotel we stayed at ( was not the most expensive) and made our stay in Morelia memorable. This hotel knows how important it is to please the guest!

I wish I could rate this gorgeous hotel higher, for when we arrived on a Sunday, all was calm and beautiful. A lovely respite with a huge balcony/portal with chairs to lounge in outside our door, lush courtyard - although part of it was roped off with 'caution' tape - and very stylish, dramatic rooms. The designers got a little too stylish though, with lighting that is impractical. (Just try to shave with light coming only from underneath, through the translucent sink!) Staff was friendly and we were happy.
But come Monday, 15 or 20 workmen arrived, and it was obvious major construction of the courtyard was going on. And the courtyard IS the hotel! We ate breakfast (served in the courtyard) with hammering, chipping, and sawing of stone going on. The workers go in and out the same door as the waiters do bringing in our food.
Out all day, we come back to rest, but there was no respite from the noise, and the courtyard was now completely blocked off, so we had to walk through the restaurant to get to the stairs to the room. We asked: How much longer? We were told: an hour or so. We go back out, come back 5 hours later, and at 7:30 PM they were still at it.
At night trucks were bringing in loads of construction material. The next day was the same. So, we couldn't really use the hotel except to sleep.
I'm sure it will be lovely when they finish, but this hotel should close down and get the work done.

Room Tip: There's a small back courtyard with rooms, also, but construction noise is SO loud that this wou...

This hotel is one of the prettiest and authentically colonial I've ever stayed in. The staff is accommodating and during a four night stay we had no issues in our renovated room. Very nice. But...there is construction in the courtyard and in about half of the upstairs courtyard facing rooms as well as the roof. Thankfully, the arrival of a bus full of Mexico City embassy VIP's curtailed some of that activity. Management has attempted to mitigate a lot of the noise but...you know how that goes. By the way, if your room faces Zaragosa Street there is a noisy nightclub with live music until 1 am directly across the street. The room rates are expensive so it's worth checking construction status. We arrived totally unawares and it did put a damper on things. A shame we couldn't enjoy dinner or a drink in the really lovely courtyard. The breakfast to order is very nice, service is good. Best breakfast bread rolls I've had this side of the Atlantic!

Beautiful rooms with great food and atmosphere Great location. my only complaint was that there was no make up mirror and the mirror was far away. Then there was the problem in the shower. The smell came up from the sewer and we needed to keep a towel over the drain. I would come back here again.
