“Give this one a miss”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2013

We had a pooky little room, with a bathroom too small to use. The toilet was so close to the wall that you had to sit sideways. No hot water, the shower put water all over the floor, which was not difficult as the bathroom was so small. We were right next to a school and the noise from the kids was truly amazing. Breakfast was sugar cereal. Would not recommend this except as a last resort.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

April 5-9, 2013: We had a room for two for 460 pesos ($37 US) per night including all taxes through Expedia.mx. We stayed four nights. This is a hostel so the room is basic, very clean, hot water, breakfast with cereal, toasted bread and good coffee! You can enjoy your breakfast in the courtyard. It is family style, you help yourself at the breakfast table, you toast your own bread, and you wash your dishes before leaving. The room had TV but no windows, which is not a problem for us because we spend our days outside enjoying the area. The location is excellent just a few blocks away from the Cathedral and the busy day and night life. At $37.00 for two it is a very good deal. And above all was the amazing friendliness of every staff member especially the two young ladies.

Enjoyed my stay here. A fairly short walk to the heart of the historic center (cathedral, etc.) The hostel has a nice interior courtyard and costs only $300 pesos (about $24 US) per night. The staff is quite friendly. There's reliable hot water and internet in the rooms. Most of the rooms, however, have no windows which was the main negative. There was a light breakfast provided.

I had a pleasant stay, I'm a solo traveller, and was quite happy to stay in my own private room after backpacker dorms for months. The room was basic, clean, fresh towels and sheets. The bed a bit uncomfortable but it was nice to spread out! There are no windows in the private rooms and they're stuffy with a closed up room smell. I had really hot showers. The breakfast is basic but its served in a really pleasant courtyard, I really liked chilling there in the fresh air. I found the staff pleasant, didn't need to interact with them much, but pleasant and helpful. A wee bit noicy, nothing ear plugs cannot fix. The wifi Internet was great, I have my own iPad, worked really well with the wifi. And it's not too far from the historic central Morelia. And it was a great price MX300 pesos for the night. I really can't complain.

This place is a pretty good deal. Running a special right - 300 pesos, private room and bath, no Tv. Can't be beat! So this would have been 4 or 5 stars, except:

-I made it in town in time to catch the Saturday night fireworks show. Asked hotel reception - they told me in no uncertain terms such a show does NOT exist.

I learned the next day from other travelers - there was such a show. At 9 p.m. And it was awesome, with free music, performances, fireworks, etc. Sucks. You would hope to be able to rely on reception. Not in this case!

-There's an insanely loud primary school next door. Sunday was fine, but Monday.. watch out. You will wake up to an audio inferno!

Also, the bathroom is so insanely small that you can't really sit on the toilet without crunching your knees, or stay in the shower.

Too bad - it's a great value - would want to give it a higher rating, but getting that info wrong on the show - that's a downer.

Room Tip: uh... they're tiny. tip? be a very, very small person.

We spent two nights only in this hostel, no long though, but our stay was pleasant and we felt very cosy in the room itself. The room was big enough to accomodate three of us, but would be nice to get baby cot. It was clean nad shiny, toilet was clean as well.
There is a wifi available for no extra costs and they serve continental breakfast, but make sure you wake up early if want to eat anything, as they not give much to eat. There was kitchen corner as well but we didn't use.
We choose this hostel due to it price. For 270 pesos we got double room.Ask for cama matrimonial, otherwise you be offered a double room which is more costly. The only con is hostel location. It takes apporx 15 minutes walk to Morelia downtown and beautiful Catedral.
I can recommend this hostel with no hestitation and would go back again.

Recently stayed here off the back of the Lonely Planet review. The room was actually cheaper than stated in the book (that's gotta be a first!) - 320 Pesos for a room with bath and a double bed. The room was big and clean enough, no window though, just ventilation slats above the door. These slats did nothing to keep the mosquitos out, one room I saw had a glass plate behind the slats to allow you to open and close the ventilation but ours just had the remains of a broken frame. The matress was terrible and I could feel the springs pressing into my back. The bathroom was extremely cramped (all of the bathrooms on the long side are like this, the ones on the short side are bigger).

There's 'breakfast' included of bread (go to reception to collect your 2 slices), jam and horrible tasting coffee. There's wireless internet plus one computer (broken monitor with blue screen) for those without a laptop. The central courtyard is quite pleasant, however any noise echos greatly (bring earplugs). There was always a lot of noise mainly due to the staff and their friends and hangers on who were ever present. Also the walls between the rooms were very thin so you could clearly hear what was going on next door. Said staff were not particularly friendly.

In short it's not a terrible place and at the price is not bad value but there are surely better options. If it wasn't for the L.P recommendation they would have a lot less business.
