“A wonderful relaxing time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2011

We are in our early 60's & had just had a week on the beach in the corridor, a very busy week with family, so were ready to just lay back & relax; the Park Royal was the perfect place for us. The shaded beds around the pool were perfect for sunning & relaxing & reading. The room was spotlessly clean & we enjoyed numerous towel creations of swans & elephants every day. The front desk personnel were personable & very easy to understand since we speak no Spanish. We received some very special help from the RCI personnel there since we were there on an RCI exchange. It was our most enjoyable RCI experience.

The aim of our stay was to relax and enjoy and this was what we were able to do. We had hired a car from the airport and easily found the Park Royal. There were adequate parking spaces and helpful check-in staff.. This was a small resort which we found quiet and agreeable.
The accommodation was fine - clean and all necessary facilities were there. or provided if required. There was a large Supermarket complex a few minutes drive away.
The drive to the town centre was less than five minutes.

San Jose has many restaurants so there was plenty of choice including the one at the resort.

I got Wi Fi in the Reception and pool arera but none in our room which would have been more convenient but not the end of the world!
The massage we had was invigorating.

Every contact with the staff was positive and friendly.

Perhaps the only disappointment was the lack of a Hot tub.

A gentle relaxing two weeks which met all our expectations

We went to this resort thinking it was an all-inclusive resort because all of the other Park Royal resorts are except of course this one! We got there and the staff spoke barely any English which made it impossible to ask them any questions (and asking them any questions usually ended with them saying they couldn't help you anyways).

The rooms were clean at least. However, you couldn't have housekeeping come because they steal from you and go through your bags. Eventually we broke down and needed them to come so we could get new towels and what do you know, the maid broke our doorknob off. Thinking this would be a simple fix, she left the door wide open and walked away.

By the time we arrived to our room, there was a bunch of security cops and workers there standing around not doing anything. They first attempted to put it back on and cracked our door and then put it on backwards. They finally got it on upside down and left sawdust everywhere.

There is no hot tub like the hotel claims it has. They call their hot tub "bubble water" which is freezing cold and the jets don't even work. Actually, all of their pools are extremely cold and not worth even attempting to go in.

Their prices are outrageous on food and drinks. We ended up meeting locals who told us about a place across the street called Baja Blue. It has really cheap food and alcohol prices and good deals during happy hour. Another awesome fact is their servers all speak really good English and are more than friendly and helpful. Same goes for the bar called Shooters. It is actually owned by Canadians who work there and they have the cheapest and best-tasting food around. Whether you go there for the $1 beers or tacos or a $4 burger it's always good and their staff is more than helpful as well.

Something else to keep in mind is taking advantage of Mega which is located across the street from the hotel. It has food and stores that are available so that you can save money and make your own meals.

Basically, the staff is very rude and doesn't want to help you. Instead of them answering a simple question, they would rather just say "no comprendhe" to everything.

They also have a lot of hidden fees that you need to be aware of. They do not tell you about these until they keep asking for your credit card for large amounts (always over $75) that you need to pay them.

The property was small but in prestine condition. After reading a variety of reviews we were not expecting much. The staff was very helpful and the location although not waterfront (you cannotuse the waterfront in most of this area) was in the middle of a nice golf course, 3 blocks from a huge Mega Market and equal distance to Bus lines. Yes you coud in the odd spot see the ocean but not really a view. There isa very nice small cafe with an excellent staff. Swim up bar Beer $30 pesos.. The rooms were in excellent condition and nothing went missing. There are safety boxes at the front desk and they do rent out keys ior the safe in the room.

I was a bit shocked at the $75.. per week extra tax per head at the end . The overall property I would return to anyday. Remember Los Cabos is a 35 minute ride from the resort town Cabo san Lucas but is a much nicer and safer atrtist community, that is much closer to small town USA standards. This puts you a 50 peso taxi ride to Los Cabos town center.

I should start by saying this was our "first" non all- inclusive. We travelled to San Jose del Cabo in June and loved it. Other trips have included Dominican, Florida and Cuba. We usually go to 4 or 5 star, and our demographic is a couple in our 40's.
To continue..... We decided to try a time share property. Park Royal totally met our expectations. The location is great. It is right across the street from the resorts on the beach. (well a street and then theres the resort). Also, right across from the Mega, the grocery store. The room was clean, quiet and overlooked the golf course. The pool was clean and right by the restaurant. We ordered amazing nachos by the pool twice for lunch. Really good.
It is a really layed back resort. If your looking for a party this is not the place. I would say for 40 and above. The resort is super clean and the service was awesome. Our maid was bettter than many of the resorts we have been to.
My only little complaint was the hotel manager, a lady ,who needs to take a course in customer relations. She really did not seem to have any interest in the guests. An example would be one day when I went to exchange money. The front staff tried to help and she yelled from her office they could not exchange money after telling me 1/2 hour prior that she could. Someone in the lobby stepped forward and exchanged for me. It all worked out. Lots of attitude from her that was a drag but since everyone else was awesome that was not problem.
We did one trip whale watching with Ocean riders. $75 per person. Really great.
Ate at Habeneros, salistas, gordos, ben thai and a few others I can't remember the names of. Seriously, I really was happy with this resort. It is a nice little place that is close to buses, groceries, and beach. The staff was very friendly and hard working. Yes, it is not extravagent but if this is the type of trip you are looking for ....I think you will be happy.

Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Gabriel was great and helped us book our activities!! It was a quiet and relaxing place to stay close to the mega. Small hot tub but not so bad. Rooms were big and pretty clean! Loved the beds by the pool. Good value. The food at the restaurant "el patio" in the hotel was good- the tacos and guacamole was wonderful.
