“Great Experience; loved the Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

We stayed in this hotel for our wedding anniversary and we had a great time. The room was great, the location is very convenient, food was aweosme and the best part was the service and courtesy of the staff.

We received great service at the front desk, restaurants, pool bars, babysitting and at the evening shows. In particular, I want to thank a staff member ("Canelita"). She was very helpful and made us feel at home during the time we stayed at Los Cabos.

We would definitely recommend this hotel if you are planning to visit Los Cabos. It is a fun place for a family vacation

“Second Visit!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

Our second visit to the Barcelo was just as amazing as the first! We initially visited the Barcelo in April 2012. I have been dreaming about going back ever since. It was everything I remembered it to be & then some. I don't have much more to say than the last review I wrote. There was 13 in our party. During our stay we ate at the Spanish, Italian, Steak House & Japanese. Food was excellent at all the restaurants, service was top notch & presentation was very well done. We had no problems with reservations & were even able to walk up with a large party, no reservation & were always accommodated. We swam in the pool & played in the waves. The pool wasn't too cold & the waves at the beach weren't too rough. I would say 95% of the staff at the Barcelo are AMAZING! They have huge smiles on their face & are eager to do anything they can to make your stay the best it can be. Majority of staff speak excellent english. Special mention to some staff in particular......Juan Carlos in the piano bar & his Viva Mexcio shots! We had a few too many of those on multiple occasions. Best tequila shot I have ever had & they couldn't have come from a nicer guy! Thanks to Ivan and his crew in the sports bar as well. Ivan's Patas de Plomo shot was tasty too! As amazing as all of the staff were I have to say that Esthela Quiralte at the main pool was the most amazing staff member we encountered! Every day she was there with a huge smile on her face ready to help our rowdy group. She was always on top of everything and we were never without a drink in our hand when she was around. Esthela definitely made a huge impact on our stay! There will definitely be a 3rd visit in our future!

“Great place to take a much needed break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

This was our first time in San Jose Del Cabo as well as in Barcelo. One of my colleague at work had recommended this resort. Overall, I rate our experience as very good. The property is new and clean and the staff is friendly. This one opens right on the beach and has awesome views. The choice of food options are plenty, however, it would have been nicer if during check-in the front desk staff had advised us of the necessary reservations one needs to make to have dinner at the specialty restaurants. We only figured that out towards the end of our stay.
We had an ocean view room and were satisfied with the amenities, however, I think, they could do better on toiletries, one had to ask housekeeping to leave a couple extra.
Areas that defnitely need big improvment are :
1. Internet connection in the room. Forget wi-fi, the room internet connection was at pre-hisortic speed. That was annoying. So, If we had to check emails, the hotel staff recommended us to go to nearby Starbucks.
2. For us, our room access card had disabled thrice and with no house phone around, one had to go back all the way to front desk to get it rectified. It was simply unknown, as to why access card would be disabled.

“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

I was apprehensive. Shouldn't have been. The resort was excellent. Check in was a breeze (early too) and our two bedroom was magnificent. It was clean, well appointed and everything worked. The property was immaculate. We found the staff very helpful. The housekeeping staff we met were not fluent at in English but we were able to get our needs understood. The front desk staff were perfectly fluent. We did not do the all inclusive. We did eat one dinner at the buffet and had great service and a lot of fun with Gabriel Rodriquez (worth asking to be in his section) and we had one breakfast. The meals were adequate. I am glad we went a la carte as the local restaurants were great with very good food. Habanero's in San Jose ( a 20 minute walk) was exceptional. For a fun, authentic, inexpensive Mexcian meal try Aquario. It's above another restaurant near the town square. Jesus will look after you well. The beach is virtually endless going north. Going south your reward is Zipper's Bar with good food and drink. It's a bit of a stroll but worth it.

“Great Place to Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

We recently returned (Jan 12, 2013) from San Jose and the Barcelo Palace Deluxe. This was our 11th trip to Mexico and 3rd trip to the Baja. Our previous 2 experiences were in Cabo San Lucas both not all inclusive. All other trips have been too all inclusives and various other chains of hotels.
First of all the hotel is beautiful. The rooms were very clean and neat. The beds were very comfortable and the Smart TV was great to have. Being able to check email, (my wife liked the Facebook app) and looking on the internet was a nice touch. The large bathroom, jacuzzi tub and large shower made it very easy for two people to get ready for the day.
Our check in was seemless and the service second to none. I did not find a language barrier at all as all of the bellmen as well as the front counter staff tried very hard to understand any questions we had.
The hotel was at about 30% capacity so it was easy to get around and it was not the usual fight for the chairs at the pool that we have experienced in the past at other resorts. The chairs both at the pools as well as on the beach were plentiful and very comfortable. The staff at the pool and beach were for the most part very attentive but we did experience lack of service at times while at the beach. Minor problem for the most part.
As nothing is perfect the only complaint we had was the lack of variety at the buffet for lunch and dinner. The food is heavily weighted toward seafood (understandable) but there could have been more variety for us none seafood eaters. My wife loves seafood but even she felt it wasn't as good as we have had in the past. We could not complain about the quality of food as it was very good, just the selection. The salad selection could have been better but its only salad.
The service was great and we had some waiters we would gravitate to and they loved it as much as we did. We went to 3 a la carte restaurants, Japanese (unreal), French (excellent) and the Steak House (fantastic). The service, food prep, presentation was second to none.
We did take advantage of the U Spa facility and it was excellent as well. Very professional and worth every penny.
Lastly we would end our nights drinking night caps and sitting around the fire pits just outside the main lobby meeting some wonderful people. The fire pits would seat up to 16 people so it gave you a great opportunity to meet different people from all over North America. We had a blast every night.
My wife and I would highly recommend this resort and look forward to going back again.

Room Tip: We had an outside room overlooking the childrens pool and playground. Not much view so check into up...
