“Awesome resort! You must stay here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2014

We stayed at Secrets Resort for a company sponsored event. Everything was amazing from check-in to check-out. The food was very good. The alcohol was free flowing. This adult only all inclusive resort had it all and I lucked out and had a swim-up garden view with the ocean in easy sight as well. I really loved this feature because it was more private than the pool and I had easy access. The bed was super comfortable and they offered a pillow menu. The minibar was stocked everyday. We could also let the concierge know our drink selections to stock as well.

We just returned from a 4 day trip to the new Secrets in Puertos Los Cabos. This is the second Secrets we have gone The first being Silver Sands in Cancun. This was far superior in all aspects. Having opened in December, I was a little worried they were still working out the bugs. No so. This new place is the bomb. Spotless grounds, incredible help and the food was great. We had an ocean view Jr. Suite with spectacular views. The pools were bright and clean and the restaurants served great dishes with fantastic presentation. The bars were stalked with premium liquor. Every employee on site would bend over backward for any request. We will definitely travel back here soon.

We just got back a from 8 days here. We ate at all the restaurants and had room service every morning. We did not have a bad meal. The service was outstanding. The waiters could not do enough to make us happy. A big thank you to all of the Entertainment crew, who were so nice and such a lot of fun. The big pool is where everyone goes, things going on all the time. If you want to sleep or read then go to the pool by Oceana's. We are retired but we did not find any issues walking, climbing stairs, walking to the beach, etc. I did see people being shuttled to and from their rooms if they were far and also two older couples were picked up at the pool. Every one goes out of their way to ask, may I help you? Do you need anything?
Room service has a small language problem. Have them repeat your order or if you like to be surprised don't. HAHA
One thing I di not see posted before. For those of us who do not have "smart" phones. There is a business center with computers and printer. You can print out your tickets for the next day and or just drop a line to home or friends.
I can not add much to what other (positive) reviews have said. :)
All in All a wonderful vacation and we really can not wait to come back.

Room Tip: We had a view of the pool, we had a 190 degree view.

Stayed 9 nights at this resort at the end of Feb 2014. As all the other reviews have stated: beautiful resort, brand new (so lots of small kinks to work out), good value for your money, the service is excellent and they are improving every day! The property is well laid out and results in more of a resort feel and less like a hotel. Two pool areas and the beach allow for different views, different vibes and different staff.

Excellent service from Cruz (Market Place), Luis (Barracuda) and Daniela & Jenni (Rendezvous).
The management has been doing excellent service training and that is seen by the use of appropriate welcomes, thank you's and statements like "it is a pleasure". If you are a service snob, then give this location another 6-12 months to train (and weed out) the staff to their standards.

Here is the only downside of our trip......it was not as much a downside as a humorous adventure each day: housekeeping & room service were very inconsistent day to day. My wife and I would take bets on whether we would get orange towels for the swim-out, whether incense would be restocked, whether the shower gel would be replaced etc etc. Same thing with room service...while we never had a 100% accurate room service order, they were fast to fix things and apologize.

Again, if you are expecting perfection in service (and also in life) then you will be disappointed in these little mistakes....if you believe in the human spirit and continuous improvement then you will simply smile and enjoy your stay. As I always say...."If the worst thing that happens to me today is <insert issue here>, then it is a good day".

Room Tip: 1. There are 3 large couches (with table-top fires) located on the deck outside the Rendezvous Bar...

We recently stayed at Secrets Los Cabos - March 8-15 and had a nice stay. This is the third Secrets property we've stayed at. Although the property is beautiful we agree with others that once the landscape is mature that it will be beautiful but for now the trees were bare. We were in building 6 which is part of the preferred club location. It was ocean view -- not ocean front. We would not do the preferred again because there was no benefit to it. I'm glad we did not have the swim out pool because there is absolutely no privacy. The room was what you would find in a luxury hotel however the paper we requested only came the first day. Dirty dishes were left for several days in our cubby hole between the room and hallway. The whirlpool was very dirty. Definitely not cleaned daily on the balcony. The bartenders at Rendezvous were awesome! However the bar kept running out of common liquor and Bud Light and only two days was the resort t maybe 70% capacity. The Portofino and Oceana were our favorite restaurants but we never knew until we read our Sundial "hotel info" if a particular restaurant would be open. We were only able to eat at each one, once. Portofino was the best. The Asian restaurant was also good but they were not good at making sure the teppenyaki tables were at full capacity. Service was good at all restaurants and around the pool. Most of the employees were very friendly. Housekeeping didn't understand a bit of English. The guy walking around taking pictures didn't do much of it at all. Most days he walked around in his red and white uniform watching everyone. We talked to him one day at the photo booth and he said we would receive a free 5x7 but yet we never had our picture taken once. We are not sure what he did. Entertainment was available from a Grease show, magician. Karaoke, and dancing. To sum it up it was relaxing but would not go back. We like trying different resorts also. If you've been to other Secrets you will find this one pretty much like the others.

We spent a week at the resort a week ago. It was the best vacation we have had in a long time. We loved everything about it really. The entertainment staff was one of the reasons for our fun. We loved the water aerobics, bike tour, beach volley ball, ping pong tournament, tennis and the activities at night such as the Casino night. The entertainment staff made you feel welcome and encouraged you to do things with them yet not at all in a pushy way. They had very positive energy, were very nice and very athletic- which was inspiring. The bike tour was a great way to get to see the area and mid way through the ride, we stopped at a beautiful beach where some people went swimming, and we laid on hammocks between two private beaches. the beaches were right across from Charlie Sheen's hotel. They had a little bar there that served us a hot, spicy tomato juice and tortilla chips. It was really cool.

The room we had was gorgeous. (2312) we reserved a garden view room on the third floor and had a really pretty view of the mountains and ocean. we loved the way the room was decorated, and the shower was so cool in that you could slid the window of it open so that you could see the ocean while showering. the amenities in the room were top notch. The bath products were mid sized bottles of high quality, wonderful smelling products, including sunscreen. We loved the room location as we were close to the main lobby, and pools, etc. The housekeeping staff did a great job every day cleaning the room. The turndown service was really nice too.

The food was excellent. We could not have been happier about that. we ate at Portofino three times and loved the food and service there. We LOVED the Japanese restaurant. eating outside there does not require reservations, and we highly recommend sitting outside anyway. It is very romantic and beautiful. The sushi, and dinner there was excellent. I ordered room service twice for breakfast and it was there within 25 minutes and was beautifully displayed. We also loved breakfast at Oceana and Market cafe. At the Market cafe, you can make your own mimosas and bloody marts and they have smoothies and lots of wonderful healthy selections, including lots of fresh fruit and yogurt. as far as lunch went, we loved the lunch at Market Cafe also yet we prefer to stay by the pool or beach in our bathing suits and have a great lunch. The food you could order outside was very good, but one of my main suggestions would be that the resort should start serving more healthy selections outside, like salads, fruit, and sandwiches. The food outside was pretty fattening like chips, burgers, hotdogs, etc. not nearly as nice as the food inside at lunchtime. They did have non alcoholic smoothies and fruit drinks you could have by the pool which felt more healthy.

The Coco Cafe was a great perk on top of all of the restaurants. I got awesome iced capaccinos every day there. and they have great cookies, muffins, etc too if you need a little snack. they have a whole living room area outside of the cafe where you can sit and have your coffee overlooking the water either in the sun or sheltered.

The pools were beautiful and you can choose if you want quiet and peaceful, or more lively. we found seats most of the time pretty easily and they wait on you and hand and foot by bringing drinks, towels, moving umbrellas for you, etc. the service out by the pools was awesome. The loungers were an excellent touch too. it was so nice floating in the infinity pools...

The week we were there there were two huge corporate groups which almost overran the place but we tried to not be bothered by them by selecting where we would sit accordingly. but I think that the resort needs to be careful while trying to establish an excellent first impression as they are starting to build their reputation. it seems that they are marketing the resort as a peaceful, relaxing, romantic place of total luxury. The second corporate group which came in really did not respect that environment. They were extremely loud by the pool, swearing and talking super loudly. A couple of guys were grilling on their deck below us. (which is obviously a total fire hazard). I heard many couples say that they were unhappy that these big groups were taking over the resort as it was taking away from the serenity and sophistication of the resort. We are all for partying and having fun but the groups were doing it in a very different way than most of the other guests who were there as couples or small groups.

The nightlife was really pretty mellow. but we loved sitting on the couches overlooking the resort, which had fire pit coffee tables, having drinks. we enjoyed going to Rendez Vous for drinks also but we didn't end up dancing there. it felt too bright and not enough people were dancing so we just hung out instead. They do have fun nightly activities which you can join in. The resort is fairly widespread, yet small enough that you start to get to know other guests. We liked that a lot and met some very nice people, including a wonderful couple with whom we hung out a couple of days and nights and who we plan to stay in touch with.

Over all, we absolutely loved this resort and I can not wait to go back. I hope if you decide to go, that you will enjoy it as much we we did.

My wife and I just returned from a 5-night stay at the Secrets Puerto Los Cabos. Located about 45 minutes to an hour outside of downtown Cabo San Lucas, the resort is a brand new adults-only, all-inclusive resort in an up-and-coming area. This trip was our first time to Los Cabos and our first time at a Secrets Resort, and we are so glad we chose this property. (Note: We have stayed at other luxury all-inclusive resorts, but this was our first time at Secrets.)

Being a brand new resort, we thought the buildings and grounds would be beautiful, and we were correct. The architecture is fabulous and landscaping is amazing! My favorite part of the resort was the infinity pool that looks out over the Sea of Cortez.

The buildings, though, were not what made our trip memorable; it was the staff. We were blown away by the impeccable service. Everyone from the servers (like Juan at Oceana and Pedro at Barefoot) to the bartenders (at Rendezvous) to the entertainment staff (like Martinez) helped make our trip extraordinary. Housekeeping also did a wonderful job, which is extremely important to us! (We really loved the turndown service.)

Another important aspect of an all-inclusive resort is the selection and quality of a la carte restaurants. This resort has five different restaurants for dinner, but some days, not all five restaurants are open. We ate at the Italian, Asian, and Seafood restaurants, and we found the selection and quality at all of them to be incredible. Also, unlike some all-inclusive resorts, seating is first-come, first-serve. We like this philosophy over the reservation system, since some people (usually in higher room categories) find a way to get into the "hot" restaurants while the plebeians are left out in the cold.

This resort is perfect for adults who do not want the hassle of crowds or the endless partying of downtown Cabo. (There is plenty of entertainment at the resort, but it usually shuts down at 11 or 12 at night.) The resort is not just for couples, either. We saw people who were there with friends and/or adult family members.

The only thing to keep in mind is tipping. While technically included in the all-inclusive rate, tipping is acceptable for exceptional service.

I am harsh critic, so for me to give a hotel/resort a 5 out of 5 is an extremely high compliment. I would definitely return to this property.
