We ate at La Galeria on our last night in Los Cabos and wished we had discovered it earlier. Easily the best food we have had in any of our dozens of trips to Mexico, in a simple but elegant setting (we sat at an outdoor table). Every dish was unique in its own way, but not challenging. Simply delicious. My teen-age grandson was reluctant to go to a restaurant with nothing familiar on the menu, but ended up refusing to share any but the smallest bites of his shrimp diavolo. My shrimp tacos consisted of shrimp tempura served open, with the apparent taco shell turning out to be thinly sliced jicama. I don't want to make this sound too offbeat, because everything was delicious, the setting lovely, and the staff generous and friendly. Not in the middle of San Jose, but on the Malecon about 2 miles toward Cabo San Lucas, right across from the Cabo Azul resort. We ate four dinners during our stay in Cabo, from fancy to a hamburger joint; the lowest tab was at La Galeria. Worth the cab ride; worth going out of you way for. And go early in your stay, because you will want to come again.
