“Amazing resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

This resort is incredible! Excellent service! As you check in enjoy the champagne offered, and when they hand you off to the girl who is going to tell you about the resort, just know if you say yes to breakfast at Dreams (the sister resort), it will be a time share presentation! You can only visit the dreams resort for this presentation, or in the evening for dinner....not to use pools or other daytime options. This was not very clear, and most assume they have use of the other resort and you don't.

Great entertainment crew with the best entertainment, we felt like we had private parties much of the time! The pub crawl with Edjuardo was tremendous fun even for non-dancers; great people watching and well taken care of! We had a mardi gras party on the beach, a valentine show, fire dancers, mariachi and folkloric dancers, as well as a disco nightbon the beach!

Food was delicious, not your typical all-inclusive food; even if they had a buffet, the selection and flavor was wonderful! You can always eat in the restaurant if you choose any time. Room service food was as good as the other options and service was the best! If you want wine in your room call room service; the first time we ordered 2 glasses, the next day they sent a bottle. Order lunch by the pool, or room service any time!

We were there mid-February and the weather was a little cool- bring layers and a jacket and long pants for this time of year! Can't swim in the beach in front of the hotel, but can in front of the Hilton just down the beach. Beautiful beach to walk on, and watching whales from the beach. Water was too cool in the pools the first few days, better as it was warmer outside. The heated the pools obviously, but they could have been warmer. Only one day were many people in the pool, which was a shame with such beautiful pools!

The rooms were just as the pictures showed, with a daily stocked mini bar and twice daily service. Something happened the last night and they did not do turn down service which we missed after having our slippers put on mats beside the bed every night, fresh coffee service placed for the next day, and chocolates on the bed! The bathrooms were open to the bedroom, with glass door on the shower and one on the toilet. This was loud when anyone had to use the facilities during the night. On the other hand, laying in the whirlpool tub and looking out at the ocean was priceless! The tubs were not deep, probably to save water. The shower was large and updated tile, seat, and built in shelf for toiletries.

Bus into Cabo was easy and safe for $2 each way; crossing the highway to get picked up was the most dangerous part of the entire trip! First day we missed the stop in the downtown area (I think the bus we got on also went out of town. Look for buses marked San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas ONLY. The driver called someone who could speak English to tell us that we missed our stop! The driver told us on the way back where we needed to get off! I thought that said much about the safety for tourists! If you get on the correct bus, mentioned above, you will get off just across from the mall. Walk thru the mall and you will be right at the marina.

We walked right around the marina and at the end of the marina, we hired a glass bottom water taxi for $10 each, and only had one other person on the boat with us! We saw all the beaches, the arch, and the driver took our picture in front of the arch. Take off the orange life vest if you do this, they aren't flattering in photos! They also took us to Medano beach where we had drinks at the office, great fun, drinks, and appetizers!

My husband and i were celebrating our 30th anniversary and already look forward to returning to secrets marquis and the beautiful Cabo area! First time in Cabo, but certainly not our last!

Room Tip: We were on the 3rd floor room 343, almost at the far right end. Even though we could see the highway...

“I truly never wanted to leave, and i never say that!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

This place is stunning! Upon arrival you are greeted with a half glass of champagne and pleasant attendants. The arrival area is gorgeous! An open half moon structure with a straight view to the ocean. Our room was ready and when we walked in we were very very happy! Super clean, very quiet and with a large king sized bed separate jacuzzi tub shower and toilet. It had an open flow through so you could chat /see your partner while in the bathtub or shower unless you closed the curtains. It was night when we arrived but in the morning when we opened the window curtains , wow. Just WOW. We saw whales in the ocean spouting on a DAILY basis. On to food.. also great!! i was wary at first of the all inclusive but this place rocked it! The breakfast buffet was great and very large and varied but the dinner restaurant selections were even better! The hibachi place was yummy the grill was good but the french place was AMAZING. Im from NY and have very discerning taste but this place was on par with an upscale NYC restaurant. Definitely try it! The alcohol was also free flowing and they have some great top shelf brands so i never felt badly hungover. The pool view is really stunning as well. We didn't have to get out to early to have a great seat either. Its a very chill pool scene no loud music or dancing or anything like that. This place is low key, so if you want to go out and party at all you will have to take a 20 min cab ride into town. The servers everywhere were always very nice and helpful and that is KEY to me when i stay somewhere. Oh and try the gorgeous spa! The massages were just so so good!
All in all i will come back here for sure when i come back to Cabo ANYTIME!

Room Tip: All the room face the ocean so every room is stellar!!

“Honeymoooooon!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

My now husband and I stayed there the week of September 18th, 2012 for our honeymoon. Overall, we had a wonderful time! Pros: They have a decent staff to stayers ratio. Most of them are very hard workers-the waitors worked so hard and much-they were even sweating in the crazy humidity. Great food, we loved the vista ballenas restaurant the most! Sometimes, it's a little wait, but not too bad. The portions could be a little bigger. But all-inclusive is definitely the way to go! We loved being able to go out without having to remember anything. The pictures seem to do the place justice. The rooms are large, and have a beautiful ocean view-all of them! We never saw any whales or anything though. The beds were average. It's always a good idea to have a room on one of the higher floors-you don't have to wait long for the elevator. We did not get the honeymoon suite, and we are glad we didn't. They are on the 1st floor, so you don't get much privacy even with your own private pool-everyone walks right past you. Not worth the price. The pools are huge-wonderful, they look like they pour into the ocean. The service at the pools is not as good as elsewhere. We asked for just water most of the time, and they never came back multiple days in a row. They have these little "nooks" at the doors where they put your breakfast in so they don't have to bother you in the morning. No one told us what they were for, so we put some of our belongings in there. You could clearly tell they were ours and still in use. But they took them all and put them in the trash. Luckily, we told the desk about it, and they recovered it (even though it took some time). They do have a business center where you can print things free, and stuff. Cons: september was soooo hot! We didn't go out much, not even to the pool because of this. It was like 100+ every day! Just too hot for comfort. They have a few activities, but not that much of a variety. No kids, so it is quieter. It is about 25min from the city. Tip-take the bus instead of a taxi-saves you biggie time. This resort is also not near much of anything. But if you want to just get away and relax-this is the place. The tubs and showers are nice and big. It was a little awkward that it was just open. TV's do need to be updated, and to be bigger. I wish there was dvd players. You can't swim in the ocean-it's mainly just for looks-too dangerous with the riptides. You wouldn't want too anyway the way it looks. But this was very disappointing for me, cause that is one of my fav activities. We booked on bookit.com, got a fairly good deal we thought because it came with like $200 in reward coupons. It's a total of that amount, but they separate them and you cannot combine them-so it's like $10 here, $20 here. Not cool... The resort is clean, and designed nicely as well. The A.C worked great, and was so lovely! It won't work if you have the balcony doors open at all though. After being other places recently, my husband and I can't wait to come back!

Room Tip: Always good to choose a higher floor for the view. Don't get the honeymoon suite-not worth it...

“Nice Facility OK Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

We stayed in another larger all inclusive resort in Cabo last year and decided to pay more for a nicer one this year. The rooms and bedding were better, entertainment was better, and the food was the same or slightly less impressive. Breakfast bar was a dissapointment. We never got a good steak at any of their restaurants. Seafood was all good.

We stayed 6 nights and virtually every night the temperature was a bit cool which will carry some weight when we decide where to go next year. On 2 different nights the resort paid a decent amount of money to bring in good entertainment (dancers). My wife and I huddled under a space heater and enjoyed both. They hired a band to play on the beach on Fat Tuesday night but only 10 people went out there because it was 65 degrees and breezy.

We had no option but to pay an additional $40 per night for ocean front because they had high occupancy on the weekend. Our room was on the 3rd floor in the center which was nice, but I got the impression that those would be considered "ocean view" if there was a higher vacancy rate. My suggestion is to go Ocean View since all rooms face the ocean.

Only $2 per person via the public bus to get to San Lucas or San Jose so that was a piece of cake. perfectly safe.

So bottom line is that we will probably go further south to Puerto Vallarta or Ixtapa next February where it is consistently warmer.

“Awesome vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

We had never been to Cabo, and picked the Secrets Marquis Resort based partially on Trip Advisor ratings. The resort was awesome! The resort is clean and well maintained, the food was very good compared to past vacations in other parts of Mexico, and the service was top notch. The only buffet is in the morning, no others for lunch or dinner (which was nice). We are the kind of couple that vacations to relax, so we don't do a lot of side trips/activities. This resort was quiet and relaxing, but had options for people who like to do things. The pool was nice, and the pool staff were great!! The beach is nice, but swimming is not an option due to strong currents. Our room was very nice, with the trademark "Secrets" morning coffee, danish and fruit delivered each morning. Watching Whales from our deck was fun in the morning. Night life is limited to one bar and limited entertainment, but Cabo is a 20 minute cab ride for the wilder people. If you want a quiter resort to relax, I highly recommend this place.

Room Tip: All rooms are ocean view with a patio or deck. Great views!
