“Great Family Resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

We had the pleasure to stay at the Royal Solaris for our summer vacation. The rooms are nice and very clean. Our favorite part of the hotel was the staff, they are amazing!! Zoe made my kids feel so welcomed and she tried to always get them involved in the activities. All the entertainment crew was awesome (Motto-Motto, Emer, Poncho, Tony, Ivan, Jimmy, Danny and KoKo). Truly recommend Royal Solaris if you have kids and are looking for fun, friendly staff!!

Had my wife, 2 sons 27 & 23, plus a girlfriend & nephew.
3 rooms,
Bullet points:
Positives
Great location for walking on the beach and relaxing.
Quiet at night.
Great staff - very friendly & accommodating. (Thank you Alfredo)
Daily activities makes the day fly by. Staff remembers names and getting people involved near the pool.
If you want or need quiet go to the adult pool area. We like the action & music at the main pool.
Enjoyed the beach volleyball - great way to meet new people.
Nighttime activities are nice and in some way reminiscent of a by gone time.
Friendly people from all over the US Canada & Mexico.
Clean from top to bottom. Nice landscaping.
Being a member helps, free internet, lock box in room, members only bar (top shelf alcohol), special dinners, free snorkeling cruise if you stay 7 nights, etc...
Negatives:
Basketball court rims & backboards need to be replaced.
Gym too small for this many rooms, 372?
Need pool cooling system.
Need bus trip down & back to Cabo nightclubs 30 minutes away, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, nights. leave 9pm return 2:30 am, estimate a fair price of $15-$20 per person round trip. This would be great for all adults over 21. Arrange a deal with El Squid Roe or Cabo Wabo or another lower cost/drink place. You could then visit wherever you would like. Max 40 people.

All in all much more positives & fairly weak negatives.
Remember, this is Mexico!! Relax and enjoy.
We will be back!!!

Room Tip: Pay extra for ocean FRONT - not ocean VIEW

Very good hotel for the money paid and the location couldn't have been better. A 20 min bus ride into Cabo for $3/pp was better than taking a $35/ea way cab ride and a short 15 min walk in the opposite direction provided a more relaxed experience with small shops and eateries. You can catch the bus in front of the Mega store.

The following staff members were amazing:
Kitchen and restaurant staff - Lucy, Francisco, Emma, Alejo, Aleks, Luis, and Marisol.
Bar/Pool staff - Carlos (have you seen my beach ball? LOL!), Mayco, Ramon, Alberto, and Antonio, and of course all the guys/gals of the entertainment team.
Housekeeping - Martha and the sweet gal that delivers towels at night - great people!

The buffet food was not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Seafood night and beach night were by far the best nights of all and although they were both buffet, it was good - what more do you expect? Don't pay for the parties, they serve the same food as you'd receive otherwise....save your money, you're at an all inclusive for goodness sake.

Unless you're a member, you'll have to pay for the lock for the safe deposit box in your room. It costs $1/day.

Overall a very good stay for an all inclusive and we've traveled to quite a few. I would say that we opted NOT to take the timeshare tour and weren't hassled about it at all. We just said "no" as soon as we sat down with our concierge rep. He wasn't the warmest person thereafter, but we didn't need his services anyhow.

Unless you're a member, you'll have to pay for the lock for the safe deposit box in your room. It costs $1/day. Oh, and the beds are hard as heck, but all you have to do is call for a foam top.

We went Royal Solaris for our 15th wedding anniversary and took the whole family.

Here's a list of the pro's and con's I'll start with the short list first

Con's --- The beds were hard as rocks. You are approached by time share people as soon as you walk into the lobby, However they don't bother you again.

Pro's --- The staff is amazing. We have three kids under 10 yrs old they loved the kids club and didn't want to leave thanks to the ladies who ran it Dora, Paula and Jasmine. Without them my kids wouldn't of had such a great time.

The entertainment staff Danny Boy, Toni, Imer, Jimmy Boy and the beautiful Zoe and Koko were incredible. They kept us entertained day and night with there fun games and great evening shows. Zoe and Danny Boy also helped my wife translate and look up some info on their phones because of an allergic reaction she had. They then stopped by several times to see how she was doing. That kind of caring and dedication to the guest is irreplaceable.

The food was Good they gave you a nice variety of items on each buffet. There was 11 of us and we all have different tastes but we all were able to find something that we liked. The wait staff was very good and also tried to help with all special requests.

The pool was huge and that's where I spent most of my time it did get pretty warm by the end of the day.

Lastly My wife & I renewed our vows. They have a little deck with a gazebo that they decorated beautifully. Yarida and Karina were our coordinators and they were incredible. They addressed all of our questions and went above and beyond to make sure everything met and or exceeded our expectations

I would highly recommend this resort

Room Tip: the even # rooms starting at 350 have great balconies

We stayed at this hotel last year and we liked it so much we decided to go back this year.
we didnt feel the need to get out of the hotel.
our two daughters had fun just by being in the pool or by collecting sea shells at the beach. clean beach but cant swim. probably the only downside to this place.
our youngest went to the kids club a couple of times, they have all sorts of activities for them.
the staff is great and very pleasant. from the minute you get to the hotel to the minute you check out everyone is eager and willing to serve you.
By the end of our week stay, the waiters knew our names & our drinks and would get them for us without asking for it.
they have nightly shows, dinners, programs for all ages. zumba classes in the morning and at night.
the pool staff was great. involving everyone in the daily activities and games. water aeroboics and more.
my mom was with us and fell on cactus on one of our excsursions. and every day, the medic that helped her at the hotel would call and ask how she was and if she needed anything.
Overall, Great place to stay with family!

This hotel tricks you as soon as you walk in their doors. If you want to go straight to your room when you first arrive Nobody does first thing they want to know is if you have a credit card!! That credit card better be a visa or a Master Card or you will be treated different from that moment. If you do have one of those cards you will even offer you $400.00 cash to go their presentation to sell you what they call a Vacation Getaway not a Timeshare! the longer you hold off the more you can get from them. If you only have a Debt card all they will offer you is a night for the Tiki party they have every Friday. This party will cost you $45 per person if you want to go. Not worth the money. On arrival to our room No iron, No safe box, couple of light bulbs out, a lot dust bunnies in the room, hair on bathroom floor and shower. The hallway between the elevator and the room was like a sauna that is not counting the elevator. You just run out of there and tare your close off!! Mind you this is only at 8 am!! When we called for an iron a hour and half went by before we received it. Oh and six hours later the maid brings us another one, maybe so you can iron faster with two the next day! Drinks at this Hotel are watered down and all taste the same. We ordered One drink and every time looked different when I asked them why, they could not give me an answer. I have one, they are not bartenders know your drinks you offer in your own hotel. My son hit his head on the bottom of the pool blood all over is face and you would think the Doctor on site would come take care of him??? We took him to the room called the front desk took two calls to the front desk and a hour later till someone brought a bandage for him. When we called the second time all the front desk clerk could tell us was oh my God for the delay! When leaving the hotel the employees will hound you trying to interegate you as if you are in jail in their hotel as to where you are going. They ask you questions like you are going to see another property, you aren't going to buy something somewhere else are you? Questions you should not have to answer its not their business what you are doing on your vacation. You are always trying to hide when you try to leave from the front desk. Food was all right meat was a bit hard most of the time. A lot of food to pick from. TOO many kids yelling and running around. Hotel a bit run down Other hotels in area a lot nicer, it looks a bit 70ish . After going to their presentation watch out because they were pushy to an extent that they think you are lying then they get Mad and just about kick you out Very Rude.. Well telling them about my iron situation they told me it because i was not a member. Well why would you with that customer service? Nothing Special with with hotel maybe a 2 - 3 star resort Had more Fun at other resorts in area try the Cabo Azul very beautiful or the Grand Mayan both next door.

Room Tip: Try the resorts next door Cabo Azul or The Grand Mayan worth your money. Hall ways and elevators nee...

The positives - friendly staff, good service, sizable/clean room (pay for the upgrade to ocean view, worth it), kids play areas well kept.

The so-so stuff (at best) - buffet food was fair to gross at times (stone pizza bar was nice), entertainment shows are in the actual cafeteria away from bars which made us not want to go most nights, beaches clean but not swimable, time share pressure from the moment you walk into door.

San Jose is small, artsy, and quaint town. Definitely rent a car and go to Chileno or Santa Maria beaches for swimming/snorkel, drive over to Todos Santos is beatiful mountain drive.
