“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2013

I wrote a review about this hotel NOT Solamar Hotel and Beach club. I do not know what this hotel is like but would not like people to read wrong reviews. I tried to reach you to explain the mistake bot only got lots of questions, and could not talk to you. I do not know how this came about whether it was my mistake or yours. Of course I would like this rectified in some way, as I love to help people decide where to go and how things are. I will just say again that we loved this resort and would go back in a heartbeat..

Room Tip: Pay for the Ocean view as it is wonderful to see the Ocean and all the resort. Top level is the best...

We went to Royal Solaris with friends who are members. We had the opportunities that they have, drinks by the pool, choice of pool venues, breakfast and dinner near the pool, speciality nights (great food), and boat ride & snorkeling trip. Yes there were some things one may not like, like repetitive meals at the buffet and poor wifi, but the room was clean and the staff & service given with a smile. There was quick service response for our needs that were met quickly and happily. The entertainment at the pool was fun at times but usually because of the participants. If you want quiet...try the 'relaxing pool' or beach. There are no children allowed at the smaller pool. There is no swimming allowed at the beach (dangerous undertow). Your vacation is what you make it. We ran into the small town of San Jose and stayed in Los Cabos after the boat ride. many thanks to our hosts Tom & Barb! Enjoyed on the beach, very quiet and clean. The Mexican merchants selling their wares will leave you alone once you say 'No' several times. They are back about 20 feet from the beach chairs. Gracias para todo!

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms where the sun rises vs. sets (sun is very hot). Beautiful views.

The staff are amazing Antonio at the pool bar made our vacation. The food was ok but Lucy made a fanatic omelet she always had a smile on her face. You can tell she enjoyed her job singing as she worked very hard. The rooms where very clean and well stocked in the mini fridge. Thanks Antonio for a great time at the pool bar. The bar by the beach should for sure stay open much longer so people could enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean.

This is our second winter break at this resort. The food is even better and we're really enjoying the easy access to San Jose. The snorkeling was a fantastic new addition as was the trip to see the dolphins who are only a kilometre away. It's the people like Emir, Alex, Maria, Gerrardo, Andrea, Yonathon, Victor, Yanet and so many more who make this place so special. They do everything they can to make it possible for us to enjoy a sunny winter getaway.

Room Tip: So far we've enjoyed both of our rooms. One was on the main floor. This trip it's on the sec...

This hotel not only caters to those who wish to spend money on an all inclusive but is also a time share club and they let you know it by the segregation right down to the different quality beach towels, places to eat, and festivities you can take part in. Food was just so so and it is the first time in 10 trips to Mexico that I have come down with such a bad case of Montazumas Revenge. On the good side, the beach is spectacular and goes for miles but you are accosted by beach vendors every 2 min. You cannot swim in the Sea of Cortez due to the rip tides. The worst bar drinks of any all inclusive my husband and I have ever had. We even upgraded ($300) to a better room but were moved out of there after 4th day due to fan over toilet leaking!!! Where's the value??

Room Tip: Pay for the upgrade,

Great value. Perfect for families. Easy access to beach. Only ran into problems with making reservations for the restaurants. Make reservations for restaurants right at 9am when the desk opens. There is a buffet open if you don't want to eat at the restaurants also, but food is better in the restaurants. I would plan another stay there without a hesitation.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor will be noisier due to pool activities.

My wife and I are members at Royal Solaris for approx 1 year and have vacationed there with our 2 children 4 times since September 2012, our most recent trip being completed Nov 11, 2013...Overall it is a great family resort with a few hiccups here and there, those being first of all terrible wi-fi service, being members we have free wi-fi service but it is limited to one device per room, unfortunately we needed access for 2 devices since both my wife and I were on a "working vacation" this last trip and needed to be in touch with our workplaces and could not due to this policy. 2. Proper Hotel Staffing...we have traveled there during all 3 travel seasons low, med and high, when the resort is at low capacity I do understand the need to run a skeleton crew but when at near capacity like this weekend when a huge wedding party arrived and staffing was bare bones level it was unacceptable, management should be able to manage their workforce levels better in anticipation of occupancy levels. 3. Vacation included Airport transfer back to the airport would be nice too, at this time the resort only provides a courtesy shuttle back to the airport only if staying 7 nights or more
