“NOT A VACATION RESORT IN ANY FORM OR WAY.BEWARE OF "CONCIERGE" AT THIS PLACE !!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Very bad expereience at this place !! One comes for a vacation, but the stay was anything but a 'vacation'. Very rude behaviour from the front desk associate Laurent, has no concept of 'customer service'. The moment you arrive, check in and get your keys, you are handed over to someone called a 'concierge', who is supposed to 'show you the Hotel'. Hoever they sit you down and unmindful of the fact that you have just arrived from a long flight and need to lie down, start to browbeat you with all kinds of offers, to get you to attend their 'Club Solaris Presentation'. The presentation is a very high pressure selling tactic that requires a real expert to run out of there. There will be a series of 'Managers' that will come and beat you down to sign 'now'. So BEWARE NOT TO EVEN GET INTO A CONVERSATION WITH A SO CALLED 'CONCIERGE'-OTHERWISE YOUR ENTIRE VACATION WILL BE DESTROYED AS THEY KEEP STALKING YOU WHERE EVER YOU GO.
The resort had no idea of what a vacation resort should be. Too much noise, not caused by guests or kids, but by the landscaping crew that start their machines at 7:00am, knowing very well that people are on vacation and would like to sleep in. Music being played everywhere is loud and anxiety causing rather than soothing music needed at a resort. Food choices are terrible to say the least, nothing to eat for people who don't eat meat, and they are unwilling to make an adjustment per your requests. The MCs at the entertainment programs are loud and keep on hooting ''ooohs and aaahs' quite like Orangutans in a Brazilian jungle. Inspite of the fact that 90% of the guests are from overseas, they insist on doing everything in Spanish which is a stupid idea to say the least. The only saving grace is the staff in Cafe Solaris, who actually smile and go out of their way to assist guests. There is no sign of any 'Management' anywhere asking as to how we are doing and if they could do anything to make to stay comfortable. Location of Cafe Solaris has a great view of the sea which is very calming but non stop loud anxiety causing music counters everything. Other facilities are mediocre, the jaccuzi in the spa has 'warm' water instead of being hot. Rooms are very sparse, so called 'Ocean View' is a misnomer, views are blocked by palm trees and even if you want to just sun in the balcony, loud non stop bantering by some 'activity co-ordinator' by the pool does not allow you to relax.
The resort has absolutely no idea what a vacation resort should be. This was our first and last visit and we DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO THERE EVEN IF IT ISOFFERRED FREE. There is no point going for a vacation and come back with tons of anxiety. Stay away from Royal Solaris, there are so many other places, cheaper and better.

Room Tip: Stay away from the 'CONCIERGE'. Head for your room as you get the keys.

Thanks for writing a review, we are very concerned with what you say, however, let me tell you that we have already talked to the front desk staff for this type of situation does not happen again, not common these comments about our hotel, so we invite you to give us a second chance and so can prove that Royal Solaris Los Cabos can exceed your expectations.

We took a company trip Jan 10, 2013. There were 4 couples and we all had a great time. The food was excellent, the staff was courteous and helpful. We were given a room with 2 beds the first night, but moved to a king room early the next day. The only complaint about the rooms, the beds are extra firm. The rooms are clean and stocked daily. The weather was not very nice, but that is on Mother Nature, not the resort. The vendors on the beach are kept behind a rope, so we could enjoy the beach, and the pools without being bothered unless you wanted to deal with them. I would recommend this resort.

Well, we just returned Jan 10-17, and I think you get what you pay for here. Positive things, definitely the kids club and water park were awesome and fun. The staff in the kids area were super nice and great with the kids. The pool water was warmer than other places we have stayed which was nice because it was on the cooler side the week we were there. The rooms were clean and spacious and the staff very accommodating if you need something changed....we needed a new bed but didn't want to change rooms so they brought a new one right away...impressive. We had an ocean view upgrade which was worth it and we got a room with a murphy wall bed which was awesome for the kids...ask for a room with one. It was quiet and comfortable and newer TVs were nice. Drinks were very good and service was excellent. But the food....oh its too bad. It wasn't good. It was edible, but disappointing for sure. Breakfast was the best meal. We have stayed in many all inclusives in Mexico and this was by far the worst food. AT some meals a dish might surprise you and you'd be like ohhhh this is actually OK....but that was rare and most things were bad...the potatoes were liquid (supposed to be mashed but clearly powdered) and the food was never hot. Luke warm. My 3 yr old got sick the last 2 nights, vomiting. Food related...most likely. Sad that the snack bar food sustained us, with kids and the timing of the buffet opening...its all there was. Had to buy fruit from Mega grocery store as they offer no apples, bananas or any fruit to snack on during the day or to take to your room. AND NO CORONA!!! Seriously...never been anywhere in Mexico where you couldn't get a Corona...that disappointed me, small detail but hey, when I go to Mexico I like a Corona with lime. Oh and good luck getting a reservation at the restaurants, we never got one....hey maybe the food was great in there but when we called at 9:10 all that was left was 9:30pm seating....not good for kids so we never went.
So would I go back again....not likely....I think there is better out there. It wasn't bad it just seemed like we got a good deal but then felt like for all the trouble of travel and such we should have spent the extra $1000....nothing is free in Mexico so if you get a deal there is a reason....

Room Tip: ask for a room with a murphy bed...great for kids

My boyfriend and I spent one week at the Royal Solaris in early December. The front desk staff, the towel ladies, the cleaning ladies, they were all wonderful. Maricella at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our time there. The food is mediocre, breakfast menu was almost always the same, lunch and dinner was okay. We rented a car and went to Cabo San Lucas and Todos Santos. The night entertainment was excellent, the room was very clean. Overall, it was a good experience for us. I would definitely stay there again.

Just got back from the Royal Solaris and it compares well with the Royal de Cameron in Puerta Vallarta. Solaris is more modern but they are comparable. The staff were great and the front desk very accomodating. Keep in mind that memberships are a key aspect in this Hotel and for those who are interested in 'buying in', you can and if not just say No Gracias, firmly. The whole area itself is full of time share salespeople, once again No Gracias works well.
The entertainment is super and a good variety of it. I especially enjoyed the Mexcan dancers, that was great.
Very clean hotel, and the food was good as well, some of it was luke warm but a good variety, the waiters work hard and over all I would give it a 4 star rating. The only bad thing, the weather did not co-operate as well as it could have but the Hotel does not have control over that aspect. It was cool and windy but overall it was a good trip. I would not hesitate to recommend anyone spending time there for a week or two.

Room Tip: Pick a 'sunny side' and you won't regret it. Or better yet take the ocean front

Considering I have been to the Cabo location 6 times, I guess you can say I love it there. Nothing is perfect, but the people are wonderful (even the sales people, who are doing their jobs regardless of how annoying that can be) they are all very nice and make you feel welcome and comfortable. Victor in Rose Marinas is always incredible. The staff is amazing and as I said, nothing is perfect but it is really nice to become so comfortable in a place that is like your "home away from home". Every time we enter the gates and the front doors slide open, the breeze and clean smell of the hotel greet you and the sense of "being home" is overwhleming and your vacation is beginning.....I love it there.

Room Tip: Ocean view is important. The beds do suck, I hate to say this but they are the worst....letting th...

6 of us booked for early December of this year. It was the second time or more for all of us so clearly we all liked it enough the first time to return. The 3 stars I have given the hotel don't really reflect clearly the experience.

Again most of the staff were wonderful: Rosa (front desk), Victor, Maricella, Martin, Ramon, Angel and Isidro were cheerful, friendly and some of the hardest working people I have ever seen. Karen at the lobby bar who served cappucinos was quite the opposite. She had almost achieved inertia.

The rooms were clean, large and well maintained. Although it was an upgrade to Oceanview, I was a little sorry in the end we had a ground floor room, as we would have liked to keep the outside door open at night, but it is Mexico and we were security conscious.

I think there were more people there this trip as more restaurants were open including one where you could sit near the beach at night. Bacon was now readily available at breakfast, an improvement over last year and some shellfish was included in the evening buffets. Coffee is still poor and tastes a little of bleach. Worse evening buffet by far was Sunday (I think) when one of there special dinners were on and you had to go to the breakfast buffet restaurant. Huge lineup, badly understaffed and as a result a lot of hungry noisy, upset kids.

Unfortunately my husband and a number of other people got food poisoning while he was there. Some of the healthy spouses ended up comparing notes and possible remedies around the pool, so I was certain it came from the resort. It is why we won't be back.

Lastly, time share people are definitely still around, although some of the tour companies sign contracts where they can't approach you.

You can walk to the McDonald's in the Mega Mall, cross the highway, and take the bus into Los Cabos for about $2. cdn. also buses stop right outside the hotel going into San Jose and cost about .50 cdn and their is another bus from San Jose that will drop you off near the marina and Cactus Museum. Much cheaper then a taxi

Room Tip: Hotel is 3/4 of a rectangle facing the beach. The rooms outside the rectangle will face other hotels...
