This is an HONEST, review from me, who went as an "owner" . Owner meaning that my inlaws bought into it last year and my family went with them as owners as well.
Reservations were made 8 months in advance to reserve specific rooms. Yes, that is what you can do once you shell out 15,000 to become an owner/member. Arrived at hotel and were greated by our "guest representative". He is the dude that is going to take care of us for our stay. He gets us a cold beer while he goes thru the weeks scedual of events. Honestly, the beer was nice, but the review of weekly events was annoying. It took 1/2 hour and I just wanted to get to my room. All the info was clearly printed out on paper and we could ask questions if needed. Get our rooms, and both are wrong. Both are located in the wrong area. No biggie, but why pay 15g for a service and not get it. They can only change one room. That right there sours the day a tad. Get to our room (the wrong one but cant complain, I am not paying for it). Room is large, clean and great view of the pool area. Fridge has 4 waters, 4 beers, and 4 sodas. Outstanding. Room is missing one vital piece. The Crib for our 19 mo old son. Another thing requested 8 months ago and confirmed more then 3 times as we did not want to be without one and did not want to bring a portable one. Call desk. No crib available for 2 days.!!!!!! Ok, that is not right. The 15g just got them no crib. He gets to sleep and nap with us in the bed for 2 days. No biggie, but still highly annoying to my inlaws who shelled out the big bucks. Go down to the pool to check it out. VERY nice baby pool area for those that have kids. The large pool is also very very nice. All surrounding areas are great as well. The "entertainment" at the pool is pretty much annoying. Loud music and a guy on the p.a blaring his voice most the day. Not very relaxing at all.
Enough of the pool. Lets move on to food and drink. Drink program first. As owners/members you get premium liquor. Well, there is a catch. Premium liquor is only served in the member only restaurants and events. DOH!!! That was not in the brochure. No biggie. There are bars set up everywhere and the beer is cold and the drinks not watered down. Now for the food.
You have probably read many dif opinions on the food. I am a well versed in the food business being involved it the food industry for 17yrs and also being a person who loves to eat. I am not too picky either. I love a good hot dog and burger. Lets just say the food in the buffets is comparable to dorm food, cafeteria food. The hot dogs were deep fried for quick cooking, the burgers dry and very harsh tasting and the chicken nuggets dry. But wait, there is a Members only buffet.. Well, I seemed to have found where the better food goes. Not too shabby, but now I feel bad for all the people who have to suffer the regular food buffet for lunch. Breakfast rang true for both as well. The regulare patrons had to eat schwag, unless you got fruit or omlets. The scrambled eggs were so bad in the regular buffet, my wife litteraly had to spit them out and we had a good laugh. She eats anything, but thoes eggs just would not go down. We now have learned to eat at the members/owners places in order to get good food. Caribean night buffet had nothing carribean, just regular buffet food that was lackluster except for a leg of lamb that was out of this world.!!! Entertainment and music was latin, not carribean but was very good. Every time I ate steak/beef at the resort it was HORRID. I am talking awefull. The special steak I ordered was so tough, I could not cut it with the knife. It was a goodyear tire.! I am not being rude, it was simply terrible. The 2nd days steak or meatslab was just as bad.. So I stuck with seafood for the rest of the trip. Not too bad at all. Not great, but not bad. I was shocked to see freezerburn marks on the shrimp tails being that we were in Mexico, but they tasted fine. The mexican restaurant had slower then usual service for the resort. The food was nothing special. The italian restaurant was rumored to have good food, so we ate there Thanksgiving night. Well, There were no Italian meals being served. That was one of the Goodyear tire nights.
Throughout our stay, the service was great.
The beach area is very clean, the water clean and some great waves. Strong rip makes it dangerous for swimming, but somere were out there having fun. Overall I would say it is worth going to as a regular guest. NOT an owner/member. I can absolutely say that I saw no real value in being a member. I saw non members get the same service, just had lesser quality food available. For 15g, you can go into town and get some outstanding food!! ,,
Advertised shuttle to Cabo only runs 3 times a day so you better want to spend about 6 hours in town, or take a cab back
Cab runs 35 bucks each way, making trips to Cabo very expensive.
