We rented a two bedroom, two bath, 2nd floor Las Mananitas unit through VRBO.com and could not have been more pleased. Everything was super clean, the pool area was fantastic and uncrowded, the ocean view was great, the beach was great. I cannot say enough about how perfect we thought Las Mananitas was. We felt very safe and secure - one afternoon a car alarm went off in the parking lot and security guys materialized out of nowhere and ran to the car. There is a great little beach bar at the RV park next door (great margaritas), the Rusty Putter sports bar is great for casual food across the street, there is a Mega store across the street (kind of like a Walmart Supercenter, but with really great breads and pastries). The Mega has a coffee bar in the front as well, for your morning espresso. I would definitely rent a car - San Jose is 5-10 minutes one direction, Cabo San Lucas 20 - 30 minutes the other direction. No question at all that San Jose is nicer and the best place to stay. We had a great meal at Local 8, and an even better meal at Restaurante El Matador (take Pescador past Paseo Los Marinos, between Balandra and Portaviones Streets). Also, check out the great casual local food at a place we discovered through friends go to --------. I would definitely recommend Las Mananitas for the location and value.

Myself and family stayed in the penthouse at Las Mananitas (2) over the new year and what a fantastic place. The interior of our apartment was absolutely gourgeous with top of the range appliances. The view was breathtaking and the weather the best we had ever had - even better than when we were down at thanksgiving. I have a few comments which I am sure are under review and have been commented on in other reports. The pool area is lovely but I just felt the pool was too cold to enjoy. I love swimming but I did not use as often as I would have liked. Also I echo the pool cleaning comment. That really was a noisy ceremony every morning - maybe a little more thought to those on holiday that are catching up on a bit of sleep ! However that said the place was immaculate with lovely staff and a stroll to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world - I have been all over the world and think that you would be hard pushed to find one better - sea without seaweed - how fantastic !! The shops are convenient and I would advise a car hire for a couple of days but not the week - We also ate in Thadashi one night which I thought was out of this world - lovely staff and fabulous food - although apparantly their time share sell is terribly unprofessional be warned ! Also ate at Local 8 which has a fantastic atmosphere. Our only regret was leaving having not made use of the BBQ area - oh well next time maybe !!!

We went mid-October and the weather was absolutely great! Property is really beautiful, upscale and the pool area very nice! Beach is awesome, although the surf seemed too rough when we were there and I didn't see anyone brave enough to get in the water.

We walked down the beach to a nearby beachside bar and had lunch and super cheap margaritas. I don't remember the name of the bar....but Ernesto, the bartender, was very nice and accommodating! Chile rellenos and margaritas on a perfect afternoon just can't be beat.

Back to Las Mananitas.....only downside is the morning powerwash of the furniture and pool area. I understand the need for this, but the unit is VERY loud and annoying when you're trying to either sit out on your balcony or by the pool to enjoy the morning.

It was near noon before they stopped and the gas fumes from the unit was pretty bad. It took away from the ambience for sure. When they stopped, the group I was with all clapped and I think they got the hint. I didn't seem to notice the powerwasher as much after that, but then again, I also stayed pretty juiced on margaritas all day - so maybe I just got where I didn't care.

Plus to the Las Mananitas property is the close proximity of a small shopping center and grocery store. We were able to walk to and from for basic needs like beer, tequila, purified ice, etc.

Disadvantage is the distance to downtown Cabo where all the shops and partying are at. We took a cab and it can be a bit expensive traveling back and forth....but there are always plenty of cabs available.

Two things to see in Cabo for sure is El Squid Roe - go on a weekend (Sunday was pretty dull compared to the night before) and Cabo Wabo. We had a great time. Expect crowds though!

One place to absolutely stay away from - The Shrimp Bucket. The flies swarmed us throughout our meal and talk about the worst food on the planet. Think of the worst McDonald's meal you've ever had and you've got this place beat 100 times. Totally sucked!! Service absolutely HORRIBLE and God, the food was disastrous. Don't waste your money on this joint.

Overall, Las Mananitas is a great property that is quiet, beautiful and serene. Cabo is beautiful, weather was awesome (a partly cloudy day on the forecast was one cloud in the sky!).

Can't wait to go back!

Who says the pool isn't heated. It is heated thoughout the whole winter season! I stayed for 6 weeks and loved every minute of it. The staff is the friendliest and the most helpful people I have encountered. They were more than happy to accomodte my every request with pleasure. I can't say enough about what a great time I had here. I have travelled all over the USA and Mexico to beach front resorts and I loved the privacey that Las Mananitas has to offer. Right on the beach!!! Fantastic views, steps to the white sand with miles and miles of ocean. Close proximity to downtown San Jose and surrounding restaurants. I can't wait for the new amenities to the resort that they are offering later this year. Expansive suites fully equipped and huge terraces to while away the evening with a marguerita in my hand. I'm booked back and will make this resort and the charming town of San Jose one I'll go back to every year.

My husband and I took our family (8 and an infant) and stayed in a three bedroom, three bath condo at Las Mananitas. We found the accommodations exceeded our expectations and the property was beautiful. The pool was wonderful; the temperature perfect. The hot tub was a bit warm for us. The concierge was most helpful with any/all of our needs. We renewed our wedding vows while in Los Cabos and the staff at Las Mananitas made all the arrangements. The location was breathtaking. Although we rented a car, there are plenty of restaurants and markets within walking distance that if one chose to stay on site, provisions are within range. Concerns include the powerful waves on the beach which prevented safely entering the ocean water in that location (my husband was actually injured trying to body surf in the area although he should not have been in the water!) There was no maid service during our five day stay (available for a price, I believe) and it took us until the last night to figure out how to adjust the air conditioning (too cold for us!) Also, there was no laundry soap and no dishwasher detergent, only minimal toilet paper and paper towels so buy plenty of your own! However, we had a great time and absolutely loved everything about our stay. We highly recommend the accomodations, the staff and the area!
