“Delicious-fresh-utterly satisfying”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014

I've lived and traveled in Mexico for years. This is by far the best seafood/fish restaurant. The tacos are superb, the ceviche exceptional. Even the tortillas (corn, of course, with fish) are warm and soft. The fried, battered fish tacos (capoteados) are light - not greasy at all. Shrimp broth amazing. Everything is fresh and made to order. Great service, clean, and the prices are reasonable. Every local person I asked recommended this place. Sunday afternoon it was packed with Mexican families.

“outstanding seafood in an authentic casual setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2014

Was directed here by the helpful folks at Baja Brewery (it's about three blocks away, 2 blocks up Morelos, turn left, and walk another block or two, the OXXO convenience store is on the corner) --we had marlin and mahi mahi fish tacos that were absolutely wonderful at about $7 each, with a delicious complimentary cup of seafood broth soup. It's an open palapa palm thatch roof building, very casual, clean and friendly. We were there on a Sunday afternoon, the tables were full and we were the only gringos, but the staff were welcoming and spoke good English. A real authentic treat to find.

“Pure local seafood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2014

The best seafood at a local restaurant. No frills just great Mexican seafood. You must try at least once. Go for breakfast or lunch. They give a free cup of seafood soup-broth that is outstanding. Every hot sauce or condiment you would ever need. Great prices.

“Locals eat here, great food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2014 via mobile

Our resort staff recommended this restaurant. Looking at it from the outside you might not go in, but do! The waiter spoke pretty good English and was so helpful. He answered our many questions about how different dishes were prepared. I had fish with mango sauce--delicious. The piña coladas were also excellent-- a very coconut flavor. If you like this restaurant also try Guacamayas.

“Local gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2014 via mobile

Had a wonderful early dinner at El Toro Guero. Most everything we have read about it is absolutely correct. While somewhat difficult to find, well north of downtown San Jose, it is a friendly place with excellent seafood and large portions, all at prices for locals. The service from Jonathan was first rate.
