The Hola Grand Faro is a great hotel to sit in a chair and read a book. The sound of the ocean waves is very relaxing. This is not the hotel to go to if you are a looking for a wild vacation. My wife and I stayed in this hotel from Thanksgiving to Nov 26. Here are a few thoughts on the resort overall it looks better in person than in the pictures. The Beach great waves to look at and hear the pounding surf also good for wading if you like getting knocked over and drug out to sea! The rip tide is very strong and the biggest unseen problem is the ground under the water is very uneven so it is easy to lose your balance. The vendors don't bother you and it is not very crowded. Rooms are large and clean, if you want your room cleaned its a good idea to call house keeping and schedule a time. The Food breakfast is good pretty much standard breakfast buffet & omelet fare. Lunch is an disappointment. The snack bar food was the best bet for lunch. Dinners were very good both in the buffet area and in the restaurants dishes that really stood out the seafood, roast beef, Thanksgiving turkey and on the Mexican night the fresh fried churros were outstanding and all the "local" dishes got a big thumbs up from my Mexican born wife. If you want to go somewhere else its about a 20 - 30 minute walk to the main plaza in San Jose, not much going on when we toured the town on foot. Several streets were torn up with construction. If you want more activities catch a bus to San Lucas a round trip on the public bus is 50 pesos much less than a taxi. Overall I would stay in Hola Grand Faro agin

Hotel is about as average as it gets. The food, service, drinks, and entertainment were just so so. We were particularly surprised by the food. We expected more flavor and more options. If you think you are going to get Italian food in their Italian restaurant you are sadly mistaken. They serve the same food and just give it an Italian name. Stick with the buffets. The Mexican fiesta night was enjoyable but the rest of the evenings entertainment was poor. The pools are nice but way too cold. Our room was lovely but I need to add I think we paid for the best room in the hotel. If you want to go anywhere stay in Cabo San Lucas instead.

At first, choosing this resort was based on price, flight times, and location. It was a last minute decision but well worth it! Initially we were checked into a room overlooking the Royal Solaris and the kiddy pool but we went back and asked for a different room at which time, Laura, was very helpful and moved us to another room overlooking the pool. Also, if it wasn't for our Air Canada Vacations rep we would have never known we were entitled to one hour free internet per day so thanks Gerina! The front desk won't tell you so you have to ask. I originally paid for one hour through the gift shop but later when I approached the front desk Jose gave me the internet time for the week. I have to say the food overall is okay, the food at Los Olas and Albatross seemed to be pretty good, the food at La Gondola and Las Jimacas were good if you picked certain items. You do have to reserve the same day for Las Jimacas and La Gondola. We didn't know this and when we showed up at La Gondola we were told they were full but Lucy was very nice to just let us in without reservation. We want to say how we appreciated the servers like Odette, Gilberto, Francisco, Jose, and Eliud. They provided a service that always came with a smile. Karla, for taking care of us by the pool and bringing us a drink when we asked for it. The room was clean except for the glasses in the bathroom and the counter, a little dusty around the television and the rug by the bed needed vacuuming but we were happy with everything else. If you are not a night owl, you may want to bring ear plugs as there is nightly entertainment in the lounge. Overall, the resort, to me, was very clean and well presented. About a 15-20 minute walk to historic San Jose del Cabo one way, that or a little less to the Mega Store and local buses to Cabo San Lucas going the other way. Example, 19 pesos to get to Chileno Bay, wonderful beach not too far by bus or rental car. The rental company, Thrifty, at the front desk area is where we booked a car. It cost about US$53 all in and well worth it. I would definitely stay here again and refer my friends. Be sure to bring tip money with you, they deserve it.

Ok, we think we are good season travelers in regards to Mexico beaches and this spot was great for us, San Jose is calm an feels more like Mexico so I highly recommend.
The hotel is ok, clean and nice pools but we got off to a bad start because we had prebook and paid some extra $ for a ocean view room, so we get there and they put us in a first floor room with a 'great' pool view!!! Also we couldn't see the ocean since it was blocked by the snack bar!!! Thanks front desk Jose!!! Went back and could't get another room since he said the hotel was booked but we didn't see a lot of people. Anyways we told him to get us a room a cross the hall which they don't mark as ocean view, it has a view to the next property on the right of the hotel, but it happens to be empty se we at least got an ocean view on the first floor. Jose finally agreed to move us begrudgingly!!
So we carried on, we didn't really stay at the hotel, we spent it visiting places and beaches which was great!!!!
Another thing the reservation restaurant sucked. But overall the buffets were good and specially the snack bar food, excellent if you have kids!!!

So rent a car and know they are not gonna charge you the Internet rate but a much higher one, but do it anyways is worth it since San Jose and San Lucas are really great, visit the beaches along the corridor and also highly recommend the little town of Todos Santos and San Jose main little plaza!!!
