This property is very nice but a few of things need to be worked on:
1. Smoking or non-smoking rooms:
We reserved a deluxe non-smoking room with great views and a balcony. When you read the "Room Details", all rooms are described as non-smoking on the "For Your Comfort" list which gets confusing since there are smoking rooms available. The two roooms on either side of us were smoking rooms. Apparently, it also means smoking on the balcony and not just inside your own room as the guests in the room on one side smoked on the balcony which meant we could not sit on our balcony and had to keep our balcony doors closed since the smoke smell was drawn right in.
I called the front desk and they told me that the room next to us was a non-smoking room and they would move us to another room since those guests were smoking. I refused that offer as we loved the room we had been in for 5 days (and we had 5 more to go!) and the smokers had just arrived that day. I suggested they move the smokers but that did not happen. The person speaking to me said he would call the guests and ask them to stop smoking. However, at a closer look at the sign outside of the room, it WAS a smoking room so they continued to smoke - not inside the room but on the balcony - and even leaving their filled ashtray outside on the balcony each day.
It seems that smoking and non-smoking rooms are side by side and that smoking is allowed on the balconies and that impedes the comfort of being a non-smoker and sitting on the balcony we have paid for.
2. Internet access issues:
We paid for the internet access upon arrival (we were reimbursed this cost as it rarely worked for us) and, as others have said here, there were issues with it. We could not send email but we could receive email and this was such a frustration for us as we still needed to stay in touch with people for business purposes. The business center people did try to help us for several hours for several days which took away lots of our vacation time. They kept telling us it was our internet server having the problem, but we did not think so. It was kind of them to not charge us for the brief service we did have, but it should work and we agree with others who have said there should be no per day charge anyway.
3. Price for breakfast:
On our first morning there we had breakfast at the hotel - good, but very expensive if you wanted to actually have something more than coffee and pastry. This turned out to be a good eye-opener for us as we discovered several great places in San Jose del Cabo with delicious full Mexican (or French) breakfasts for a third of the price charged at the Hilton. Discovering that, we only had one dinner (room service) at the Hilton since we found great restaurants for dinner which did not go over the top for prices and yet the meals were amazing. So, all in all, a negative issue at high breakfast prices, turned out to be a positive thing for us.
Would we go back to the Hiiton Los Cabos?
Absolutely! However, they need to re-think the smoking policy and the descriptions of non-smoking for all categories of rooms and then still have smoking rooms intermingled with non-smoking. If smoking is allowed in the ROOM, then that's where it should stay (with doors closed) since balcony smoking really makes it smoking on everyone's balcony and with smoke entering non-smoking rooms.
Internet issues need to be resolved and the charging policy needs to be re-evaluated.
Finally, please consider making meal pricing (at least breakfast) more reasonable if you want guests to stay on the property for breakfasts.
