Description: El Matador is the finest restaurant in San Jose, owned by a former Matador, Pablo Velez. It boasts Mediterranean Mexican dining. It is in a neighborhood next to the Nun's Hospital. Their Scallopine Marsala is to die for as well as the other items on the menu. Please add this restaurant to your list. I can't imagine why it hasn't been on there as we have been eating there for at least 3 or 4 years.

“Wonderfully real Mexican vibe--great food in a beautiful setting!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2012

You can't help but feel warm and cozy in El Matador. The food selection is perfect. I combined the Veal Scallapini with Ravioli--wow. The chef is the owner and he comes to each table and if you ask him he will also show you the moves he used when we was a world class matador--lots of fun for the family. Be sure to try the Chocolate Molten Cake for dessert. All in All our best Cabo restaurant experience.

“A Cabo Must!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2012

One of the best and unique dining experiences I have ever had. Owner Pablo Valdez, a former matador, has created a enviroment and cuisine that is a must for all visiting the Cabo area.

“The best tortilla soup in cabo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2012

This is now one of my favorite places in cabo. The owner Pablo is a great person an excellent chef. The place is very welcoming and you feel like being invited into a friends' house for dinner. I had the tortilla soup and I must say it was delicious!! I also had the cesar salad and it was also very good. We were a party of 8 and everyone just loved everything. The chocolate cake with ice cream and flan were also delicious. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes and enjoy this hidden gem.

“Lovely atmosphere, wonderful food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2011

Walked in and wondered whether or not to stay because we were the only customers. The house was so beautiful with an outside garden and a pretty inside settingthat we stayed and we were thrilled that we did. There was a reasonable wine list. The menu prices were fair for Cabo. There was a $14 chicken dish and fillet mignon was $27. We had the shrimp and the fillet mignon and both were presented beautifully with wonderful sauces. Dessert was a Mexican Key Lime pie that was delicious. They even had decaf coffee. The service was wonderful. Go past San Jose to Pescador Street, make a left, continue one block past Banorte, make a left, go past Gucamayas and continue several blocks (the street curves right a little bit) until you see an old house with lights on in the garden. It is on the left side of the street.
