“Awesome holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Oct 28-Nov 11,2012
My friend and I spent 2 great weeks here.
The hotel is lovely and the staff were awesome.
We had a nice room with a partial ocean view that also over looked the golf course. The food at the La Palapa was good I especially enjoyed the tempura prawns and awesome service from Marco. And always a friendly greeting from Geraldo and Librado.
The Kujira a la carte was very good and the Manager Victor was amazing and he has an awesome smile. We also enjoyed our meals at La Terraza restaurant.
The pool was beautiful and the beach was nice as well. And Daniel who kept the pool area neat and tidy always greeted you with Hola and a smile.
It was very easy to take the local bus into San Jose and Cabo San Lucas, we did this several times.
We also took the tour to Land's End and it was amazing.
The only thing that was a little annoying was trying to use the internet, but other then that I can't say enough nice things about this hotel.
If your looking for a relaxing vacation I would recommend this hotel and their amazing staff.

Returned from 10 days at Melia Cabo Real on Jan.19th. It was our first stay and I must say I was pleasantly surprised! We had booked a partial ocean view room and the only issue was that they put us in a 2 double bed room instead of a king. All was corrected quickly the next morning when they moved us to a king room even closer to the ocean. The resort is on the smaller side with only 1 pool although it is a very large one, and 2 alacarte restaurants, one Japanese and one Mediterranian. Both were very good with especially good service and ambiance in the Mediterranian. The buffet had a good assortment with the theme changing every night. We never took in the nightly shows as I am not fond of dance routines, so we spent most nights around the large firepit in the lounge enjoying drinks and conversation with the people we met. There is a live band every Thursday night that was quite good and we would have liked to have seen them perhaps 2 or 3 times during the week. Restaurant
reservations were a breeze and the service at the bars and restaurants was very quick and pleasant. The entire resort was very well kept and clean . Our room housekeeping was excellent. All in all a very nice resort easily as good as the 5 star Riu Santa Fe which we had stayed in twice previously. All that being said I have seen a lot of petty complaints about this resort on this forum and all I have to say is that if you are a high maintenance person you might not enjoy this resort as much as I did, but if you are an average person who doesn't sweat the small stuff you will like it.

Room Tip: If you want a very quiet room ask for partial ocean and golf course view

The beautiful Melia Cabo Real was our venue for our unforgettable destination wedding in December, on 12-12-12. All of our guests, around 80 people, had the most memorable time of their lives during our wedding week there. We are still getting compliments to this day about the fabulous time they had at the resort. The service from the staff was outstanding while we were there and we extend our heartfelt thanks to our Wedding Coordinators Yuleana and Shantal, Front Desk personnel, the wait/bartender staff Anulfo, Uriel, and Alberto, etc. We would recommend this resort for any important/significant event, like a wedding, anniversary, birthday, or whatever. We have been to Cabo several times and have stayed at various resorts, including all-inclusive resorts, and Melia, by far, offers the best options. The facilities, landscape and surrounding beaches are idyllic and well maintained. Our guests can't wait to come back. We will definitely return this year for our anniversary!!

Great looking hotel and beach, a la carte restaurants are excellent. Especially the Japanese loved the pool. Only one night club though. Beach is located 100 m. From the pool down a long stairwell. But the size is big and long for romantic walks. we went on a sunset dinner and cruise in cabo san lucas and the views were. Spectacular. will go again if the price is right.

We enjoyed our stay at this resort. We had a great room overlooking the beach.
A beautiful sunrise every morning from our balcony.
It is located further from downtown Cabo than we thought.
But the bus ride isn't bad into town and it picks us up right in front of the resort.
The food at the restaurants was very good. The buffet was just okay.
The best part of our trip was the baby sea turtle release.
The Hilton next door has a protected area where they hatch the eggs.
It was an awesome experience when they hatched and we got to help take them out to sea.

Room Tip: Get a room close to the beach and pool area.

Just got back from a week at Melia Cabo Real... It was our first stay there, but won't be our last! It's distance from town mean it is probably not the best spot for those looking to party, but it is a gem if you want some quiet time or have young kids!

My wife and I were able to enjoy a little quiet time by the pool thanks to an OUTSTANDING Kids Club. Our 3 and 5 year old boys loved spending time there. The facility was clean and safe, and I can't say enough about how great Angelica, Marisol and Stephanie were to our boys! Raul and Adrian from the Activities Team always had fun games for the kids as well.
My only recommendation: It would be great if there were benches near the playground so we had somewhere to sit while we watched the kids.

I'm a little confused by some of the negative reviews... For the price my wife and I thought the stay was very good. The resort is older (plaque in lobby states it opened in 1990), but it is in good shape. One caveat: the facilities are spread out, and there are no accessible elevators and quite a few stairs. I think any significant mobility issue would make this a difficult place to stay.

We had a nice garden view room (3105), which I gather is one of the ones that was recently renovated. The beds were a little hard, but toppers were available if you asked. The rooms were quiet, and we weren't bothered even though the heating/AC system is quite loud. Housekeeping was very good, and we saw no bugs, lizards or other creepy-crawlies that frequent tropical climes.

The food was on par with any of the many other all-inclusives I have stayed at... There was a decent variety, and plenty of food was available. The two barbecue nights at La Palapa (main buffet restaurant) offered tasty Mexican-style BBQ, though those expecting their "regular" may not like the arrachara, chorizo, and chili chicken. The a la carte restaurants were good: I agree that Kujira (the Asian spot) was the best. Food from the snack bar was acceptable, though I must say the chips, guacamole and mexican salsa were very good!

Bar staff were friendly, and I rarely had to wait for a drink. I agree with other reviews that knock the red wine, but without buying my own I have never had good "vino tinto" at ANY of the AI resorts I have stayed at, even legitimate 5 stars.

The pool and hot tub were great, though they were cold the first few days. Apparently this was partly due to unseasonably cold weather, but they were MUCH warmer after a few complaints to Management. The beach was great, and apparently it is the only safe swimming beach in Cabo. That said, there is still a LOT of tidal action, and it is not safe for children without adults right there with them in the water.

Overall we found that staff were very friendly and helpful. A few smiles and a little attempted Spanish really went a long way!

Overall this was a fantastic stay, especially for the price. We will go back!

Room Tip: We stayed in 3105 and liked being down closer to the pool...

The wife and I just got back from the Melia in Cabos on the 19th of January. We had a 7 day vacation. It was a good experience with a direct flight both ways from Kelowna. The airport experience was great (not busy). The grounds were spotless. Never found any paper, bottles, garbage etc. on the beach or resort grounds. The resort was about 50% full----so no issues with getting a spot by the pool or at the restaurants. The buffet food was fine but depending on timing, some foods could be just warm/cool/cold. There also was small birds (sparrows) in the buffet area, picking at the food which is not always that appealing. Both the Japanese and Mediterranean A La Carte were great, both in presentation and quality of food. The room was very clean, with lots of hot water and pressure in the shower. The bed was very hard (even with a mattress topper). The beach was awesome for long walks in either direction. At no time did we feel unsafe on the beach area. The ocean was very swimmable at this resort. Water was a bit cool to stay in for extended periods. We saw numerous whales (daily) and flying stingrays performing along this stretch of beach. Tours could be booked from the hotel lobby or at the beach (cheaper). We took a tour to Todos Santos, stopped at a farm orchard for fresh fruit and then a blanket factory. The town itself was kind of small and centered around the Hotel California. Would come back to Cabos again----maybe not this resort as you need to taxi or bus a ride to either Cabos San Lucas or San Jose Del Cabos......but if you want a quiet getaway.......this is the place......
