“Thank you trip advisor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2012 via mobile

Thank you fellow reviewers for this lead. It was wonderful. I give it 5 stars not because it is in the same category as Manuel's or 7 Seas but in comparison to what it is. It is a little local taqueria with much charm. The frijoles soup was the perfect way to start a January meal. My wife had a queso and carne asada tostada. I had several different tacos; 2 different types of pork, carne asada, and chicken. Each was flavorful and unique. The pork tacos were my favorite. I also had a poblano quesadilla that was very good. We loved the sauces on the table. We had great service. We had live organ music. And, we enjoyed a nice visit from the owner. Yes, name behind the restaurant is great. It's off the beaten path for tourists but easy enough to find with the intersection and a street map. Oh, the Mexican hot chocolate was e best way to end a cool January night. I'm going back.

“Wana local mexican food? This is the place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2012

This is the restorants that you wont go if you read from Trip Advisor of a local take you there, in my case, mthe second option. From then outside looks like a mess but once you are inside is a good place to eat. Wait for the line outside, it is worthy

I recommend 3 of my favorites: taco de lengua, taco de costilla y taco ararchera

Enjoy the place and don't forget to ask about how they start the Restaurant (this is their site: http://www.loscabosguide.com/taquerias/elahorcado.htm)

“True local fare! Delicious and not to be missed.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2011 via mobile

As we drove through the local streets we saw many small restaurants which I would want to come back and try. The hangman was a fantastic experience. Great selection of tacos and fajitas. And cheap. Great service in a unique outdoor space. From the license plates all over the wall to the antique horse and object d art hanging from the ceiling. Truly a one of a kind place. This is not to be missed!!

“Perfect, authentic tacos & Attentive friendly service. It's where all the locals go”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2011

Wherever we go, I make a point to ask around about the best local places. EVERYONE said the same thing, "Oh you'll want the Hangman". So we went ... and then went again!

The Hangman is just amazing. A true Taqueria. It's a family run place and the service is very friendly. The tables are covered with small earenware bowls with homemade condiments, sauces and small potatoes and such. You'll use these in various combinations to augment the amazing tacos that you'll be ordering. I'd recommend that you get at least one tongue taco, to try, and sample just whatever to your heart's content. Prices are very cheap so you might want to order too much (easy to do) and then just sample them as you like. http://www.loscabosguide.com/taquerias/elahorcado.htm.

The link will help you find them - they are a few blocks up from the local road in a neighborhood.

A second place that is amazing, and good for a lunch is some kinda no-name place RIGHT on the main road, a bit North of there, on the North-bound side - and there will be a big sign "MARISCOS". The fried fish and oysters are both fantastic. You can sit far enough back that the road noise will be fairly minimal.

“FUNKIE, YET GOOD TACOS”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2011

We ate at the Hangman twice while in Cabo, San Jose. The place is total outdoor dinning with a variety of random tables and chairs. The entire place is 'decorated' with 'found stuff'', covering every square inch of fence, wall, and even hanging from the trees. The entertainment was provided by a ol' guy, in purple coat, wearing Stevie Wonder sunglasses, playing an old Hamond organ. (give him a tip). The food consisted of pork, chichen, beef tacos, prepared on an outdoor grill. The 'fixens' for the tacos were on the center of each table, albeit exposed to nature, but good. The atmosphere could not be topped, especially the locals walking on, just out of arms reach, on the sidewalk just on the othe other side of the security fence, consiting of a barbed wire fence, grown over with a spikey hedge. I would recommend the Hangman for the not so faint of heart and wanting a great taco. finding this place is fun and in the middle of the local housing area of Cabo San Jose.
