On my recent visit to San Jose I had the pleasure dining at Casa Natalia after the Art Walk. A very nice experience. The food was very tasty and the idea of sitting in a hidden garden was a nice touch. The restaurant is in a boutique hotel in "town square of San Jose. A nice place for Couple or friends catching up.

Room Tip: Did not stay at hotel.

Casa Natalia is exactly what it advertises itself to be: a serene, boutique property near the central plaza of San Jose del Cabo. First and foremost, every member of the staff of the hotel was both friendly and helpful in every way possible. They truly make sure that your experience there is just perfect.

The property itself is compact but really beautiful. Our room was quite spacious and well designed. We especially liked the wall above our bed that had a square of four small windows with wooden doors. These windows had a simple, concrete latticework outside that let in the light in a very pleasant way while blocking out the street outside. All of Casa Natalia is designed this way, to create an oasis in the center of the town. The bathroom/closet area feels open and spacious and has an open shower well. The outside patio area attached to the room had a table and chairs and a hammock.

The small pool area enclosed on one side by a very high screening wall painted in a beautiful blue color has fan palms and a water channel high above sending a cascade of falling water into the pool. This area offered us a cool and calm spot to relax on hot afternoons. Just above the pool area interspersed among more fan palms is the seating for Mi Cocina, the hotel's restaurant, and by far the best restaurant in the area.

Casa Natalia has a deal with the beach club near the marina, across from Hotel El Ganzo. This beach near the port of San Jose (a very, very small and shabby port area except for El Ganzo) is really the only swimmable beach in the area. The currents and the waves in this part of the Sea of Cortes are just too strong in the vast majority of places for pleasant and safe swimming. We visited some of the other swimmable beaches down the highway towards San Lucas such as the absolutely worth-a-visit Chileno beach, which has palapas (massive and permanent palm-frond umbrellas) set up for the public and restrooms. But even the roped off area in the water at Chileno Beach has undertows that can be dangerous for inexperienced swimmers. The beach club, in contrast, has breakwaters on two sides with another further out to sea making its waters much calmer than any other beach in the area, though by no means placid.

Now the beach club is full service and has a beachy outdoor shaded bar/restaurant area, palapas, towels, lounge chairs, and bathrooms. To arrive at the beach club you will have to have give advanced notice to the staff of the hotel to contact the taxi service that provides a discounted shuttle service to El Ganzo Hotel at 10:30 am. A panga (pontoon boat) will then bring you across the small harbor entrance to the beach club. The Casa Natalia shuttle service picks you up at 4 pm. That may sound like a lot of time, but, in truth, it is not enough time at such a pleasant place. To use the beach club Casa Natalia guests must spend a minimum of 375 pesos (~$30) per person. This is easy enough; the food and drinks are not inexpensive. The food is tremendously tasty, and the experience is absolutely worth it. (We went a couple of times.)

There are really no disadvantages to staying at Casa Natalia. The place is lovely in every way, making it a perfect spot to relax and a great place from which to explore the town of San Jose del Cabo.

First -- THANK YOU Nathalie, Eduardo, Jose, Antonio, Karina -- you all made our stay more than fantastic!!! Casa Natalia is that special place that everyone should experience. This is not a fancy crowded resort on the beach -- this is THE MOST CHARMING boutique hotel that should not be missed by anyone traveling to San Jose Del Cabo -- and a must stop-over for anyone going to Cabo San Lucas. The rooms are incredible -- we were lucky to have stayed in the Spa Suite and we couldn't have asked for more. A wonderful breakfast delivered every morning to our patio. Hammock to swing on for hours on end and a large jacuzzi with lounge chairs for enjoying the warmth of the sun. The staff at Casa Natalia is exceptional and want to make every minute of your stay enjoyable. Mi Cocina restaurant offers fabulous food and was actually how we originally discovered Casa Natalia. After spending a week at a resort on the beach, a few days at Casa Natalia was a delight!! Situated right off of the town square it was peaceful and convenient -- a morning walk around town -- shopping, coffee and pastry at the French Bakery -- back to that hammock on the patio. We look forward to returning next year!!!

Room Tip: The Spa Suites are Amazing -- just don't book when I'm going ;)

My sister and I chose to travel to Cabo for a relaxing vacation and quickly found out that the touristy Cabo was not what we're looking for. We turned our search to San Jose and were so glad we did so and found ourselves at Casa Natalia.

We got in late but our greeting was so delightful and easy just like our whole stay there. The breakfast served to our room each morning was perfect and fresh, dinner at Mi Cocina was stupendous and the peacefulness of the hotel with its pools were all refreshing. It was within walking diatance of many good restaurants, stores, and the art district. We very much utilized the private swimmable beach (which is hard to come by in Cabo!) right by the dolphins and estuary. I loved our balcony with the hammock. I highly recommend this place for their generous service and a true gem in the town.

Staying at Casa Natalia felt like staying at the home of a large welcoming family, complete with gourmet meals, shaded hammocks, clear waters to cool off with, and a comfortable, cozy room. It's a very private oasis right in the town of San Jose with easy walking in lots of directions. The food in the restaurant, La Cocina, is in itself worth going for ... Mexican and international dishes made with high quality ingredients cooked to perfection, the French twist noticeable in many fine touches.

We had a wonderful stay at this little hotel, spending five nights in San Jose del Cabo before moving on to Cabo San Lucas. The hotel is in the heart of S.J., which makes it easy to walk everywhere - to the galleries, restaurants, the town square. There is a beautiful restaurant as part of the hotel; we ate two of our dinners there (separate review) and enjoyed the food and atmosphere very much. We also took advantage of the bar's offerings, at the pool several afternoons, and one evening up in the bar itself. Tamarind margaritas were new to us and quickly became a favorite! This was such an intimate little hotel and pool, which facilitated meeting other travelers - one of whom we became quite good friends with over the space of our few days there, dining and visiting together. The room was very comfortable and we enjoyed having our breakfast brought each morning to our little terrace - how pampered is that!! Kudos to Eduardo for handling every little thing, from first greeting and setting us up in our room, to directing us to the post office, getting our laundry sent out to be done the day before we left, and answering our many questions throughout the week. We will definitely stay here again if visiting San Jose del Cabo.

Room Tip: I don't think you could choose a "bad" room - they all look onto the expanse of pool...

If you prefer Boutique Hotels and want to "un-chain yourself" at a resort hotel, look no further. Small, quaint, clean, elegantly designed, beautiful Mexican decor, quiet oasis. For him, the private patio was perfect (and rare) for puffing on his cigar to end the day. The room was spacious, well designed with a nice sitting area, large bathroom and reasonably priced (though, at $9 a beer and $23 dollar for a shot of scotch, I can't say the same for the drinks at the bar). We ate at Mi Cocina restaurant which was excellent as well (seperate review). It's the perfect location for strolling about the downtown core.

Room Tip: This is not a hotel for someone disabled or with challenged by stairs. I was happy we were on the s...
