“Very Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

We had a short but very nice stay at the Westin Los Cabos in January 2013. We had a room with a direct oceanfront view, and you could hear the waves pounding whenever the sliding doors were open. The balcony was small, but large enough for two of us to enjoy a cocktail or cup of coffee out on the balcoy. The pool area is very scenic and there is a lot of direct sun.The beach is one of the nicest I have seen in Los Cabos and was maintained beautifully.
The bathroom was large and had a great shower.

The check-in staff was friendly and upgraded my room slightly based on SPG Gold status. The concierge graciously helped me place some local calls on my cell phone to arrange for my next lodging.in Cabo. All in all, we were very happy here. I loved being a little closer to San Jose---such a charming town. I do recommend a car if you are staying here. I will say that we didn't eat here, except for a few light breakfast items. Not sure if I was thrilled with the dining options, but there are tons of great places to eat in San Jose. It is a big place and there is a fair amount of walking. I knew that, and just tried to enjoy the nice views throughout the resort. I would happily return.

Dear Guest
Thank you for your feedback and your positive comments in regards to our guest rooms and I am very glad you did enjoy the fantastic view over the sea of cortez.
The layout of our infinity pools invites for pure relaxation and the wide beach area is perfect for any activity on the beach. We just recently did partially renovate our AAA 4 diamonds Restaurant Arrecifes and offer authentic Mexican cuisine plus a Grill which offers imported and best quality fine cuts cooked over wooden fire. I am sure you would have loved it.

Thanks again for sharing your experience at the Westin Los Cabos with other Travelers.

Stay well,

We had a great time in the westin resort. All employees were very polite, and customer service was great. In every restaurant they will make sure that table was always clean and we had enough to drink. From the front desk to the bar by the pool it was a very enjoyable experience thanks to the all westin team!! Today we had a great time in the arrecife restaurant employees were awesome.

The Westin Los Cabos is a fabulous property and the service is impeccable. My wife and I have worked in the hotel industry for about 8 years and we were amazed with the treatment we received during our entire stay. If you want to have a good time in this property this is what you need to do:
Arrive at the beautiful lobby where Martin or any of the bellman will welcome you with a refreshing cucumber water or a margarita.
Change to your beach clothes and go to the beach where Omar (lifeguard) will prepare your comfortable beach chairs and will also teach you everything you need to know about the beaches in Los Cabos. Hugo will bringing you perfectly prepared mojitos, margaritas, gin with lime juice while you lay down at the beach until you are completely satisfied.
Check out the delicious breakfast and dinner at La Cascada where you will find the best chilaquiles in Mexico. The Pad Thai appetizer was the best that I ever had in my life. Adriana and Francisco took unbelievable care of us at this restaurant everyday.
We also tried the restaurant La Playa where we had the grilled buffet where they had lamb cooked in a fire pit on the sand. Amazing food in general! Ener provided the best service possible every time we were at this restaurant always getting us the best table possible!
If you are looking for a fantastic view combined with amazing drinks and food you have to try Arrecifes. It is located on top of a cliff with breathtaking views of the beach.
Otto who is one of the top manager of the property was always around doing walkthroughs of the property and making sure that every guest was taken care off. He orchestrated his entire team so well that you never saw anyone waiting for service. Upper management was always around making sure that your vacation was perfect all of the time. We even met Beat who is the GM of the property. He was extremely nice to us. We talked about the real estate market in Los Cabos and at the end of the conversation he offered to send us an email about a beautiful condo in the city that was worth checking out. A couple of hours later I was laying on the beach and I received Beat's email with excellent information on a brand new condo complex. Every single employee that we interacted with enhanced our stay, it did not matter the level of the employee from top down everyone made sure that you had a fantastic time. I have been to more than 30 Starwood properties in the word and this is one of the best that I have been! Thank you for making our vacation so perfect!

THINK AGAIN!!! Cabo has always been one of our favorite destinations. The weather, the beautiful views, the restaurants (off property) were perfect. However, our resort experience was so bad that it spoiled what was to be a wonderful vacation.
The rooms were nondescript; fairly clean and comfortable, but far below what we expect to find in "The Corridor".
The layout requires a series of elevators, steps, and ramps. quite a workout!
The staff was generally inattentive, bordering on being rude. Their selective understanding of English was frustrating.
The food was awful, made worse by the negligent servers.
All inclusive had arbitrary exclusions, which changed daily, or worse, by server.
Drinksby the pool were a rare commodity.
The pools were clean, but boring. The chairs were fairly comfortable but lined up along the edge of the pool within inches of each other or of walls.
There is plenty of walkable, steep beach area with numerous chairs.
The shops were never open as scheduled and were not resort quality.
We still love Cabo, but our resort dollars will be spent elsewhere (we like Secrets Marquis), and our dining dollars will always go to Nick San and Palmilla (Aqua and Market).

Room Tip: Go elsewhere

We are very sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay at The Westin Resort & Spa, Los Cabos, when one of our main objectives is to fully meet our guest’s needs to experience a relaxing and renewing vacation.

First at all, I would like to thank you for your detailed and extensive feedback and at the same time, I would like to apologize for all the inconveniences you may have experienced, especially if the rooms comfort did not meet your expectation. Everyone at this resort was as pleasant and accommodating as possible. Front desk, bellman, servers, everyone was more than helpful and engaging. Even folks in passing made a point of asking how you are and whether you need anything. Top notch. The grounds are immaculate and picturesque. The beach is spotless and well kept. No complaints there. Many restaurants from which to choose, fine dining to beache fare, and everything in between. Now, this all comes at a price. Drinks, food, and so forth are very expensive -- significantly more so than other places in Mexico. But you get what you pay for, and you pay a lot for superior service and so forth. The only thing that keeps me for giving this top marks is our room was really noisy. We were on the side of a building that overlooked another property, and there was quite a bit of noise and constant cart traffic on the path. Early in morning. Late at night. Our room was very nice (well appointed, clean, comfortable), but found ourselves shouting when the traffic went by while on the patio. Not much Westin can do, but I'd recommend asking for a room closer to the center of the hotel.

Regarding your comment about food prices in our different restaurants, we would like to mention those prices are generally the same in Los Cabos area as part of being a prestige destination.

We all went for a family wedding. The service was exceptional and nothing was too much trouble. Who can beat swimming in their gorgeous pools and whales swimming in the background. Getting around was a little confusing. The rooms were good with great views. The food was good and the all inclusive was a great deal. We all want to come back again.

I've been to this resort several times, and have visited quite a few hotels all around Cabo, and, honestly, this is the best place if you like being close to the water. The hotel is nestled between two hills, the archway blending right into the coast, and the rooms are all positioned so they have great--really stunning--views of the surf. They have several pools across the property, including the ones associated with the time share apartments next door (it's all connected).

The hotel was inaugurated in 1996 so there are a few things that can use improvement (the showers vary in shower pressure, for example, the wifi is slow in the rooms (but fast near the pool), and the food is pretty pricey — $19 for 3 steak tacos and a salad by the pool is just kind of dumb (though the tacos are delicious). Still, the staff is SUPER nice, the spa is great, the gym, while not huge, has a good variety of equipment and the general vibe of the place is just fantastic.

The staff is really great, and you get the sense that people really like working there, and you really can't be the location. Unlike most of the hotels that are nestled into the coastline with a pool in the middle, the structure curves towards the shoreline, with the curvy infinity pools all along the front of it. As you look at the waves crashing into the surf, you have desert rocks to your left and right, you can truly relax — and depending on when you go, watch the whales go by.

This is closer to San Jose del Cabo than Cabo San Lucas (about $10 to get into town), and it's really easy to visit resorts near by (it's close to the Hilton (great pool!) and the Palmilla.

If you are going with a bunch of friends looking for more of a thriving social vibe, this is not the best place. I see more families than party people, and there is an adults-only pool with a nice swimup bar where you can hide from the babies.

This is a Starwood Hotel, and they treat their members really well here.

Room Tip: Try to get near the middle of the arch--floors 7,8 and 9 stretch across the archway.

Dear Guest:

Thank you for sharing your comments regarding your stay at Westin, Los Cabos on Tripadvisor!

We appreciate all the great comments you made about your stay with us; as the only hotel with this special architecture and unique layout in Los Cabos we can offer you in all our ocean view rooms an impeccable direct ocean view. We keep consistent upgrading our installations and I can inform you that all showers will be brought up to the new brand standard 2013 this year.

The hotel infrastructure counts with an excellent distribution of wireless internet reception however we have observed that some guest with difficulties just needed to sign in correctly around the pool areas.

Thank you again for bringing these concerns to my attention and hope to see you soon back at the Westin Los Cabos.
