“Excellent Food, Mojito, and Dessert”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

My husband and I ate here while we did the Art Walk and it was wonderful. My husband had the mojito that they mixed up at your table. For dinner I had vegatarian rellanos and my husband had the fish platter. Both were excellent. The aviance (courtyard setting) also was very nice. We finished with coffee and a slice of cake.

“Oops! May want to avoid this place.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

We were surprised by a mediocre dinner, given the high TA ranking. Maybe it was the large group having a roasted whole pig that distracted the kitchen and servers... but our evening was a disappointment. We split a salad, which was very small and seemed to be made of a bulk package lettuce mix... did have good candied almonds and feta, though.

Fresh catch was snapper, nice piece of fish with excellent seasoning but grossly overcooked so it was very tough. Water gladly let us reorder and the shrimp in pepper sauce was much better, but still over-sauted so also kind of hard. Waiter brought complimentary dessert, which was excellent!

Decor was nice, overall service was OK but not great... again maybe the large party screwed things up. Struck me as a tourist-oriented "Mexican experience" dining spot complete with singers charging 50 pesos songs. Guess we should have tried the mojitos and moved on...

“Another Wonderful Evening”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

We have made Meson Del Angel my "birthday" spot for several years. It continues to delight. As many reviewers have noted the best way to start is the table side Mojito service, all of them are incredible though I personally prefer the Blueberry/Basil version with Vodka. The food items are always excellent, well portioned and very nicely presented. Tonight we tried the Guacamole Casa, Octopus with Habanero Vinaigrette (not that hot), Chipotle Shrimp and Chile Rellano Nagalos. The Chile was especially wonderful as it is a very classic and hard to get recipe from Old Mexico from Pueblo. It is a Chile Poblano stuffed with ground beef with an amazing sauce of ground almonds and various fruits. It is a holdover from the Renaissance cuisine that the Spaniards brought with them to Mexico.

“Amazing Mojitos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

Third visit here in two years. So good have to keep coming back. Alberto's Mojitos are the worlds best ( or at least Mexicos best). Food was excellent. The chicken mole is superb.

Quaint restaurant about 3 blocks off the beaten path from the town centre square , but well worth the effort to find. Excellent service, good food and lovely cortyard seating. Was a oerfect spot to end our 10 days vacation, Highly recommended.
