I just returned from a week's stay in a 1 bedroom suite at Casa Dorada with my husband and another couple. We all absolutely loved it!! When we arrived the timeshare people tried to give us the "welcome package", but from reading other reviews, I knew not to accept it and told them that we would be down later. We received 1 phone call and 1 letter under the door, but then that was it. I was nervous we'd be hounded every time we walked through the lobby but we never were.

The hotel is absolutely gorgeous! It is the most beautiful and clean resort. The housecleaning staff cleans the room inside and out every day and then does an evening turn down service at night - very unusual for a timeshare! It is also the BEST location possible. It is a closed resort, so if you want to stay away from the craziness of Medano Beach, you can; otherwise, the Mango Deck, Office, and Billygans are literally right outside the gates of the resort.
It was pretty hot when we were there (in the low to mid 90s every day during the last week of October). The concierge told me that from Nov to Feb is whale season...we may go back during those months next time b/c hopefully it is a little cooler as well.

The staff at Casa Dorada went above and beyond every single day. I truly have never stayed at any hotel, resort, or b&b with a nicer staff. It was such a pleasure! I have to give a few shout-outs to certain people that made our stay so memorable:
- Juan at the Pool Bar - he makes the BEST mojitos (and other drinks as well). I had a chocolate martini that was SO delicious one evening at the B Lounge and I'm pretty sure he made it; He was always very nice and friendly. He spoke great English too (as did much of the staff) so it was easy to talk with him.
- Edgar at the Spa - sometimes the masseuse (sp?) you get at spas can be a roll of the dice...ask for Edgar if you are getting a treatment. He was fantastic! I floated out of there.
- Christian at the Pool, B Lounge, and 12 Tribes - He seems to manage these areas and he works so hard! I never saw him take a break the whole week we were there. He always has a smile on his face - he was there every morning when the pool bar opened and he stayed every night through the various events at B Lounge and 12 Tribes. He accommodated me with a special request during a meal at 12 Tribes and personally delivered my special orders to me. So great!
- Israel at the Front Door - from when we arrived to when we left, he greeted us every time with a big smile and asking us how our day or evening went. He also delivered our room service a number of times. He went above and beyond to thoroughly clean our balcony table (I thought it was fine) before setting up the food we ordered out there. He was great!
- Elizabeth and Javier at the Pool Bar and B Lounge - Elizabeth and Javiar brought drinks and food to people at the pool that didn't swim up to the pool bar. They were always there when you needed them (you didn't need to wait an hour for them to come back), but they weren't pushy or aggressive. Extremely kind and friendly.
- Santiago and Vanessa - also wooked at the pool bar. Very friendly as well. Service with a smile!

I HIGHLY recommend this resort and this location to anyone looking for a beach getaway. We will definitely be back!! Thank you again to all the staff at Casa Dorada who made this trip so special!!

We recently returned from a wonderful stay at the Casa Dorada on Medano Beach...
Upon our arrival we were greeted by the bellmen and brought to the front desk. After waiting about a minute or two in the beautiful lobby, we were checked in, handed a map and received directions to our room. We did get pulled aside by the activities personnel as we were navigating to our room, but since we knew where this was headed, we simply and politely told them we were not interested in a timeshare. Once that was said and done, they left us alone and lwe headed to our room.
If I had to sum up the junior suite in one word, it would be amazing! We had a king size bed, a kitchenette, living room area, a bathroom, complete with two-person tub, and a balcony. The room was new, *clean*, and very spacious. Very impressed, and thought it was of good value too.
The hotel grounds were stunning. Very clean and well maintained. There are two main pools and I believe a third smaller pool. The main pool has a swim-up bar. The entire pool complex has cabanas, lounges, and the much needed umbrellas. As you walk down from the pools, guests can enjoy a private beach area, again complete with the cabanas, lounges and umbrellas.
The staff we encountered and worked with were efficient, courteous, and willing to get the job done.
As far as the food is concerned, we can only comment on the breakfast (we decided to eat out for lunch and dinner)..they have a buffet that we thought was wonderful. Many choices, even the pickiest of eaters should be able to find something.
And finally a word about the location...this is the place to be if you want to be in the middle of it all. We chose this hotel as we wanted the ability to explore sans taxi, and swim in the ocean, and that is exactly what we got. Casa Dorada is next to the Mango Deck, two doors down from "The Office" and is approximately 15 mins from the marina. Also, because it's on the Sea of Cortez side you can actually swim.
All in all we had a wonderful stay and would go back to Casa Dorada again, tho we may opt to go when it's cooler...as we learned September/early October can be brutally hot.

My wife and I recentl reurned from Casa Dorada at the beginning of October. We used a time-share exchange through Interval International. We had done extensive research ahead of time on this site. When we arrived at the hotel, the front desk worker stated we were being given an "upgrade" (in retrospect, he is probably told to say this to every guest). We were placed in a room that was discordant with our papers. We were supposed to be placed in a full kitchen with a full size refrigerator but this room had a half - kitchen and a mini - fridge. I called down to the front desk and they denied that we were supposed to have the full kitchen, even though my papers indicated we were. I walked down and had a long discussion with the manager, Paula who FINALLY after 20 minutes of arguing put us in the room we were supposed to receive (after claiming there were none available until the following morning)!
We finally settled in and the room was very nice and updated, 5- star accomodations. However, we noticed some things such as the fact that no mattresses were available for the lounge chairs on the deck (the website shows them as does the book in the rom). We asked for these and they said they were "not available". Also, room service does not mop the floors unless specifically asked to do so. In a beach resort, no mopping?! The elevators were out of service half the time as well. Finally, we returned from dinner one night to find that there was no turn - down service. They showed aup at 10:00 and we politely declined. I called Paula that night and asked her to come up to discuss our disappointment with the management/service. She came up and we spoke briefly and promised to "get back with us" by 3 pm the next day. She never returned or responded the rest of the trip.
Also, when trying to book a deep sea trip, we found our experience with the concierge less than satisfying. She seemed short with us because we had several questions.
Otherwise, the accomodations were as we expected. The food was pretty good by the pool. The location is good. However, the management was dishonest and unfriendly. I thought maybe they would do something to "make up" for what they did to us the first night, but there was nothing.
Upon returning, I tried to contact the main manager, Victor. Despite sending a couple emails, he never responded. Instead, some customer representative respoonded with nothing of value to say. I called Preferred Mangement, and sent them an email regarding our experience. They never responded either.
So, my summary of the resort is 5-star accomodations and location, but 3-star service. They honestly don't really care about you as a customer in general as evidenced by our experience.

My boyfriend and I just returned from a week long vacation in Cabo. This is my second trip to cabo and his first. I have traveled to many other destinations, and this was by far the most unbelievable experience at Casa Dorada. First and foremost I would like to start with our check in. We arrived at Casa Dorada and was greeted with total professionalism. I booked a deluxe suite, and we were upgraded to an executive suite at no additional fee. Our room was beautiful and spotless. The view was unbelievable. As far as all the complaints I have read about the timeshare preasure, It is not true! We attended the presentation the next morning and it was exactly what we were told. It lasted 90 minutes. At the end of the presentation, we said we were not interested, and we were told to have a great vacation in Cabo and that if there was anything we needed at all, to just ask . We were given a wonderful breakfast, a sunset dinner cruise, a wine tasting cruise, complimentary drinks at the bar, wave runners, four wheeling in the desert/beach, snorkeling, etc... We received so many activities that we gave one to a couple that we met because we couldn't fit everything into our schedule. I would also like to say thanks to Aldo and Rueben. They were the best, along with all the other staff at the pool and beach. We were treated with total respect. They went out of their way to make our stay perfect. We had a wonderful dinner at 12 Tribes restaurant. The food was excellent! And for all the people who complained about the $8.00 drinks at the resort ...Stay home next time! Life is too short. The people who complain are the ones who I saw at the pool reading a book under an umbrella all day long. Get a life! As far as the people selling silver, and other items on the beach, they are people trying to make a living and are very nice if you talk to them. We will return to Cabo and stay at Casa Dorada. Great location. Muchas Gracias to everyone at Casa Dorada for a memorable vacation. We will see you all soon.

A new resort with some work yet to be done. We stayed for two weeks and found the resort and staff to be a big part of the best vacation we have had (two seniors, son and family). The resort is certainly one of the best in Cabo. It has large open lobby, lounge and bar. Two huge pools are sufficient to use for a workout, float aroung, hang on the edge or sit at the pool bar.. The water was too warm for my preference but others found it just fine. There are two hotel restaurants. The "Tribes" is table cloth dining and the other is buffet or standard menue order. Next door is a large Cantina with live music. We found the hotel and Cantina food was excellent although a little pricy (Seattle prices) by Cabo standards. There is a small free business facility with internet connections. Medeno beach borders the property and easy to enter. The staff and management are first rate. Every day we met either the general manager or operations manager touring the facility offering assistance and soliciting suggestions. Marvin, the registration manager is there to help you. When II screwed up my sons room he stepped in and solved the problem. Marvin has one goal, that you have a good time at the Casa Dorado. General staff is friendly. You just cant walk by a staff member without receiving a smile and greeting. Our room was spotless every day.The Marina, mall and downtown are two blocks west and City Club (groceries) is three blocks north. Plenty of cabs, safe streets and Policia to assist you. Problems? Yes, the darn timeshare locusts are everywhere. I complained to the general manager and he made it clear he didn't like it either but sales is out of his control. Remember this is a new multi-million dollar hotel and the owners want a return on their investment. Downtown Cabo's main street is torn up for a sewer project so traffic is challenging but not impossible. Watch for gasoline pump fraud. We were taken twice. Aztecs revenge still exists so take your Imodium. Every night the dinner boats parade past the hotel and after dark one with a blue lighted mast returns and blasts the hotel with Macarena music. It irritated us at first but later we relaxed and accepted it.. On weekends the Cantina got a little loud but the soundproof sliding door took care of that. I highly recommend the Casa Dorada!
