I checked into this hotel at the last minute because we had an overflow crowd at the condos next door. I was working so I needed to have some privacy. The hotel itself is beautiful. However, my room had an odor in the bathroom when I checked in. But we were going to dinner so I didn't call down. When I came back, the odor was gone.
But then the party next door started. In the room right next door. Several women in and out of the room and a handsome gentlemen overseeing this party. These women were carrying plastic cups and making all kinds of racket. I finally called downstairs after being told to "F" off by one of these classless women.
I called the Manager the next morning to let him know about his hourly visitors next door. I was put on hold for about 5 minutes. The Manager never returned my call. Oh well...what did I expect from a "Four Star" hotel...(that's what was displayed when I checked in).
The next night the bath tub didn't drain. And the odor was back. Appalling. Fortunately, the Room Service guy was able to unplug it since the maintenance was a no show. Wifi was non existent. Zilch. Several people in the lobby were complaining that they had to buy the service.
The irony? The tackiest bar in Cabo is directly in front of the hotel. The Mango Deck. Crass, loud music, the usual which can be fun if you chose to go there. But I didn't bother to sit poolside because I wanted to see the ocean, not a tacky bar. And the music is loud enough that I could hear it from my 7th floor deck.
The kicker? When my friends (young and beautiful) walked back to the hotel, the security guard at the beach opened the gate for them but stopped me. And I was the 'older' woman with the key. And he asked me how many people were going to my room. Really?
I guess I was spoiled next door. I stayed 3 nights at the Cabo Villas and Bayview Suites prior to my checkin to the Casa Dorada.
The entire staff at the Bayview suites are great. The views are to die for and the tacky Mango Deck is out of view. And the rude staff is non existent.
I travel all the time for both business and pleasure. I live in Southern California and Mexico is our vacation playground. It's easy, great food, wonderful hotels....99.9% of the time.
Room Tip: Go next door to Cabo Baysuite Villas. Eat at Edith's and The Office.
