“Excellent Group Destination”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

Every year I take a large group down to Cabo and this year we stayed at the Casa Dorada. My group was really pleased with the family feel of the hotel. They also enjoyed how each room had a kitchen and we were able to bring in our own food to keep cost down. The hotel has a beautiful pool area and beach area but its a bit confusing figuring out how to get to the beach. I suggest having the hotel staff take you on a tour of the hotel ground so that you are able to take advantage of everything it has to offer. Jazmin Cesena was my group coordinator and she was wonderful. She truly helped me keep my group happy.
On our last day there, a big storm came in and we were unable to enjoy the sun. The hotel set up a big screen and played movies in the down stairs bar/restaurant area. There was also a pool table and ping pong table available to play. This was a great option that kept their guest happy.

This hotel is centrally located if you are like us and enjoy the beach and a fun, happening atmosphere. The hotel has it's own private beach area that is separated from the rest of the public. The chairs and cabanas are clean and the very well kept. The beach service was also excellent. It's right next to the activity vendors as well (glass bottom taxis to El Arco, jet skis, banana rides etc). Tip - feel free to haggle. I negotiated 2 hours on the jetski for the price of one.

You should be aware that the hotel is right in front of Mango Deck which is probably the loudest, most happening beach club at Cabo. This means that there will be music all day and long into the night so if you aren't into that type of scene, you may want to move further north up the beach.

It's about a 8 min walk to the center of town.

The hotel staff is all around friendly and the suites were amazing, clean with spectacular views. Overall a great time and I recommend this hotel for couples + friends looking to enjoy the beach.

We happened to be traveling with our very well behaved labrador Sammy and Laura (the general mgr) was absolutely incredible.

She not only made sure that our two toddlers were taken care of but that our dog (who is part of our family) was comfortable.

She was awesome. All staff was fantastic.

Please keep in mind when travelling in Mexico that Labor Law allows for 48 hour / 6 day per week work weeks and that all staff work those hours. Please be sure to tip and make their lives as prosperous as possible.

Room Tip: Room 133 is awesome!

Unfortunately, this hotel is just above average! I had high hopes for my first visit to Casa Dorada Los Cabos, but left disappointed.

The Pros: The hotel is very conveniently located on Medano Beach and is within walking distance to some of my favorite restaurants in Cabo. It is a timeshare, so the rooms are large mini-suites with kitchenettes and large balconies. The rooms are the best part of this hotel.

Cons: I experienced consistently poor service everywhere in the hotel. The food was not impressive and the breakfast buffet is my least favorite in the Cabo area. The walls were paper thin, although likely made of solid concrete, I could hear the Jacuzzi motor above me and the TV from the rooms on either side of me. The turn-down service came very late every night (9pm to 10pm) and never replaced shampoos, towels etc.

I did not have a good experience at this hotel. I had to change rooms twice because of technical issues with my room. Typically, when I stay in a timeshare, the service always seems below average, and this hotel was no different. Also, consistently timeshare rooms are usually nicer than most typical hotel rooms, and at Casa Dorada, it was no different. So, if you don't care about the service or food, and just need a nice room on Medano Beach, then you might enjoy this hotel. However, with the paper thin walls and other negatives, I will not be staying at Casa Dorada again.

I recently stayed at the Casa Dorada on Medano Beach. We exchanged our timeshare in Florida for a 2 bedroom at this resort. The room was very nice and spacious. Our room was on the second floor and faced the ocean. The view was spectacular. The food on the resort was just so so but we only ate there once or twice so it really did not make a difference in our stay. The resort is walking distance to town. If there was a ddown side it would be that this is a timeshare and you will be hit up to do the tour. But if you say no there is no hard sale so it is really no big deal. I would definately stay at the Casa Dorada again.

Stayed at Casa Dorada for 4 nights for a friends wedding.
While the hotel is nice, because its not all-inclusive you get nickel and dimed for everything. It gets ridiculous and bothersome.
On top of that I got charged for an extra nights stay once I got back to the US. Tried to call the hotel but no one I talked to seemed very interested in helping me long distance.
I won't be going back.

When you arrive at the Casa Dorada, the building is somewhat plane; a stuccoed building with not much of an exterior. It is a time share property and the staff gently pushes the guests to explore buying timeshares. Check in is typically late, after 4:00 but the staff allows you to use the property spa and pool while your room is prepared. The rooms have a generous amount of space and our kept spotless by the hardworking employees. All rooms have views of the ocean and pool. The pool is kept clean and has a fun bar at one end of the pool. You are protected by a manned gate you must walk through to get to the beach. The beach is pretty. the one complaint is the unending string of vendors trying to sell you something and the loud noise of the Mango bar that partially obstructs the view of th beach from the rooms. All in all, the CD is a solid property. Have fun!

Room Tip: The higher floors provide the best views.
