“Fantastico!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2008

We stayed at the Riu from Nov.8-15th.
We were a group of ten, ages 8-62,different interests and needs.
We all loved the Riu,great weather, beautiful resort w/great views and well laid out rooms. We were in bldg 7,an 8 minute walk to the front buffet. The food at the Baja buffet for breakfast and dinner was awesome.More selections than you could ever
imagine, cooked to order omelettes or huevous rancheros, great jjuice bar, espresso unit.Lunch was equally as good.
Dinner was more than pleasing,Sushi made to order, fresh seafood, carved turkey and Prime rib one night.A variety of Pork,Beef and seafood, you will never get bored.
Staff, gracious and accomadating. We preferred the buffet over the ala cartes.Cold Coronas in the fridge, what more do you want.
Pools clean, fun and plentiful, always a palapa and chair available.
Several excursions, fishing, zodiac tour, snorkel tour,Dolphins,Zip line and rapell,a trip to Todos Santos..........................
Don't hesitate on this resort,it's mui fantastico!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My fiancee and I stayed at the Riu Santa Fe for 10 nights at the end of December. We stayed in building 3 on the 3rd level, and the room was immaculate. The beverages were re-stocked every two days, but they'd be quick to get you anything you were out of daily. The pools were beautiful. We stuck to the infinity pool bar most of the time, but went to the centre pools if we felt like participating in some of the daily activities with the entertainment staff.

Here's a breakdown of some of the great things about Riu Santa Fe:

Staff: Everyone was so pleasant. Even the towel guys were greeting us every morning with a smile. Everyone seems to enjoy their job at this hotel, and it shows. We didn't encounter any rude staff at all.

Entertainment: This was our first time to a Riu resort, but I am told they are well known for their entertainment. They have a pretty good live band that plays at night, as well as shows like Grease, International dancers, Broadway Show, Cats vs Dogs, Miss Riu, etc. The dancers are very talented, and the entertainment staff always make you laugh. We were there for 10 days, so we saw a repeat of a couple shows, but we missed one the first night so we got to see it when it repeated later in the week.

Drinks: The bartenders were great. They didn't look at you square if you ordered drinks you're used to ordering back home. They actually make a pretty good ceasar, the red wine is pretty good, and they'll make you drinks with smirnoff, bacardi, kahlua, beefeater etc if you ask for the brand names.

Food: We didn't find that it was a big deal making dinner reservations in the mornings. The restaurants do fill up of course, but to be honest, the food in the buffets is always changing and is always good - so we gravitated toward that anyways. We went to the steak house, mexican and italian. The ribeye steak at the steakhouse was amazing.

Pools: The pools were one of the best parts of this resort. They are immaculate, huge and there are more than enough swim-up bars.

Rooms: Immaculate. They re-stocked our soaps and shampoos daily, there is a secure in-room safe, the sheets are changed daily, they do some really great towel art. This is a pretty new resort, so things are in very good condition. We didn't see one insect (other than a few mosquitoes) in our room, or even on our balcony - although we were on the 3rd floor.

Spa/Gym: The spa hot tub is not really hot, but the jets are pretty srong. The steam room is a bit overwhelming, and the sauna is nice. The workout machines they have in the gym are pretty new - even better than the ones in my gym at home! They also have yoga mats and stability balls available for use. I used it a couple days...a great option to have after eating all that yummy food in the buffets.

We would definitely go back to this resort in a heart beat.

The Santa Fe was a great hotel, the grounds were large and immacuately kept. We had a 3rd floor room in Building 3 overlooking the pool, and was kept immacuately clean the entire time we were there, and water was stocked in the room daily. The food was great, always something to be enjoyed -- tons of assortment of meats, fish, shrimp, salads, veggies, pastas, fruits, desserts. Sushi, asian, mexican and italian food were always plentiful at every dinner. Champagne and orange juice bar set up almost every morning outside the buffet restaurant during breakfast. At night there was Mariachi bands playing one night with grills set up with freshly barbecued ribs, potatoes, veggies, in addition to what was inside the buffet restaurant. Another evening, there was an Asian bar set up outside the main restaurants so always something different..Elmo was there for the kids with a station serving cotton candy - nice touch..And always a hot coffee bar with tons of liquers to add and have made special for you on the spot after dinner in the large outdoor lobby which reminded me of a quaint small mexican town square with local artists selling their beautiful paintings and jewellry, etc. Entertainment of all kinds during the day and night if you wanted to participate. The pool by the beach at Building 7 was gorgeous, always lots of loungers to be found. The other pool was also beautiful with activities going on during the day. The sports bar was open 24 hours and there were snacks in the fridge (sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs) which you could warm up in the microwave if you had the midnight munchies or missed a meal. We had a few sandwiches from there several times and they were very good. At the bars, we always asked for Bacardi by name but if you dont, they will give you the "lower shelf" brand of rum or vodka, so just be specific when you order. Dont be afraid to tip the workers (bartenders, maids, waiters, etc.) either they do a great job and are always smilling. A small tip goes along way, (and so does a please and thank you or Gracias). We stayed at the Riu Palace in May 2006 and have to say, if we went back, we probably would stay at the Santa Fe. A few reasons, one it was about $300 cheaper per week per person, and secondly, the grounds were in my opinion, beautiful and well laid out. While there are approx. 900 rooms at the Santa Fe, I believe during our stay, the occupancy at the hotel was probably about 50%, which was great because there was never a wait or line up for anything. Feel free to contact me for any other information about Cabo or the Santa Fe hotel.

What a great place. My family and I usually stay in Cancun, but we decide to try Cabo this time. This hotel had so much to do for all of us. The rooms were clean and the grounds were beautiful. The food was great. The hotel overall was clean and the emploees were more then friendly!!!!! Alan and Soto in the bar ROCK and were super great with my drinks and special drinks that they made for the kids. We booked all of our trips with Jose at seacaribe on the beach. Jose took good care of us and went out of his way several times to get stuff done for us.
No more Cancun!!!! We are looking to go back in June and we will only stay at the RIU Santa Fe, and book our day trips with JOSE!!!!!!

I stayed with my husband, best friend and her husband in the first week of November. We requested a room in Building 7 and got it, though it was not an ocean view, I also didn`t pay for one so no complaints there.
I found I could hear a lot of noise at night when people were coming home late because of the open concept of the hallway so if you are a light sleeper I don`t know if this is a good place for you. The room was spacious and had everything we needed in it.
Check in was speedy - They get you to put stickers with your room number on your luggage which they deliver to the room, allowing you to wander around the resort and grab a drink and some food. There was lots of selection in the buffets and I recommend those and the Mexican restaurant. Avoid the Asian restaurant at all costs!
The pools were amazing, there was lots of seating at all of them. I loved the loungers in the water and the swim up bars were a great place to mingle with people from all over the world!
The one thing that we didn`t really like at this resort were the shows in the evening - they were really not good, and way too loud. It was hard to enjoy the evening at the bar with friends with the bad music blaring at you. I also think that for an all-inclusive it is silly to have to pay to play Foosball, Air Hockey and arcade games. In the evening, if you didn`t want to watch the show, there really wasn`t much to do at the resort. We did go downtown one day and ate at a restaurant called Panchos - It was great Mexican food and I highly recommend it. It was a little off the beaten path so ask some locals how to get there, everyone was very friendly and helpful. We also went to Cabo Wabo and The Giggling Marlin and had an amazing night!
Overall, the Riu Santa Fe was beaitufiul, Cabo was perfect, and we all left feeling relaxed, glad to get to spend time together and have a great time!

We loved the Riu Santa Fe! The hotel was incredible. Very clean, and beautiful. The food was also pretty good! Lot's to choose from. The service was outstanding. My fiance and I were treated so well the entire time! I honestly have nothing negative to say about the resort. The only downside to the trip was that we couldn't swim in the ocean, but there were still snorkelling excusrions that we were able to go on. We would definately go back!

I have stayed at several all-inclusives and the Riu Santa Fe was by far the best! The service was amazing and the staff second to none. The beaches are a bit dangerous, but the pools offer a great view and you can even see Land's End from the hotel. I usually choose not to vacation in the same place twice but I'm hoping to go back to Riu Santa Fe in February!
