Ahhh the Riu Santa Fe... One week here is not enough. My boyfriend and I just got back from a one week stay Sep6-13th. The property is absolutely beautiful and impeccably well kept. Gorgeous landscaping with such unique cacti and palm arrangements. The pools are huge, always clean, and the infinity pools (3 of them!!) in front of building 7 are so breathtaking! The rooms are really nice and adorned with dark wood and nicely upholstered. Grounds and rooms a definite 5-star level. Request a room in building 7 or if you can, pay the upgrade for an ocean view room in this building- it is 100% worth it! Ocean view rooms in this building are unbelievably scenic and romantic... plus you get your own reception, the only building with an elevator and get to feel a little more "special" treatment ... We were so amazed that after simply requesting this bldng 7 room at the time of booking, we actually got it as soon as we arrived without asking!! (Booked through Flight Center, Canada). Riu will try to make accommodations like this for their guests when they can.
The food is very good, esp., for an all-inclusive. I have only stayed at one all-inclusive hotel in which I thought the food deserved the 5 star rating (Royal Solaris, Cancun). Nevertheless, the food here was great, never felt wary of its quality, 4 different kinds of restaurants plus the buffet, and there is a TON of selection at the buffet. Also, lunch was served at 3 different restaurants, not just at the main buffet like most resorts. The steakhouse was mine and my boyfriend's favourite; Good steaks, great service, cool little demonstration put on by the waiters, live music and an amazing view of the ocean. At this hotel, you do not even need to get up for a drink- waiters come to you at the pool to take your order. The waiters here work hard for their money and take their jobs seriously, if they made even the tiniest most insignificant mistake they jumped up to fix and really felt bad about it- they make sure everything is JUST the way you like it!
We stayed during the second week of Sep'08 and although we braced ourselves for alot of rain (Cabos gets 45% of its yearly rain in Sep) but we only got one day of rain and half a day of total overcast, with 5.6 days of pure HOT sunshine! Personally thought this was a great time of year to go, it wasn't busy at all -you can get the prime real estate of pool chairs by the ocean, no matter how late you stroll out to the beach- but there were still enough people to keep it feeling lively at night.
We will go back to either the Santa Fe or the Palace next door FOR SURE!!
Ps. Go on the ATV tour, SO much fun and unreal views of a totally assumed private beach!!
