My husband and I had a wonderful time at the Riu Santa Fe, and were extremely satisfied with the accomodations. We were nervous about some of the negative reviews, but we were not disappointed. Our room was extremely clean, the grounds were nicely manicured, and the pools were absolutely gorgeous. We were very happy with the buffets... breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We actually did not end up eating in any of the restaurants, because you do have to wake up early to get reservations and we were either sleeping in or off on an excursion, but we were very happy with the buffets! (Can't comment on the restaurants, but there was quite a selection). The sports bar provides great internet access at a very reasonable rate, and although the burgers and hotdogs there left a bit to be desired, we didn't find the need to eat them anyway. The drink options were great... The staff is wonderful... so helpful, so friendly, just incredibly nice and accomodating. The location of the hotel is right on the water, and the beach offers a myriad of activities and excursions. You can see Neptune's Finger from the beach. We couldn't believe we got this hotel at such a terrific rate. My husband and I will definitely be returning to the Riu. It was a beautiful resort and we are sure that as it gains popularity, the prices will increase and give some competition to some of the other hot spots in Cabo. In the meantime, if you are wanting high class, five star service, then shell out the big bucks and say at Dreams Los Cabos or some other expensive place. I highly recommend the Riu Santa Fe!

We just came back yesterday from the RIU Santa Fe after a one week stay. I had no idea what to expect after reading some good and some poor reviews on here. The check-in was short and sweet and I would suggest Building 3 across from the pool. I will go through each item and try to explain it briefly. The food was the one thing that I was worried about. It was good for an all-inclusive. The buffets always had something that I found to like. The breakfast buffet was the best. They always had pancakes, bacon, eggs and omelettes. The homemade salsa was always good at the buffets. We did try the other places to eat. The Italian was ok. I had a filet but it came with marsala sauce. The Asian was liked the most by my children. They enjoyed the little pieces of fried chicken, ribs and fried ice cream. The Steak House was also good. The steaks were cooked exactly how we wanted them. The pools were awesome at this resort. We usuallly went to the main pool with the entertainment crew. They offered many activities during the day and played various types of music. We loved Eli, J-Lou and Ramone. They were funny and made the activities very fun. We did sometimes go to the infinity pool and did visit the beach a little bit too. The ocean is not a good place to try to swim with the big waves but fun to go in a little and get knocked down. The nightly shows were ok. We did enjoy the lip sync show and Grease. Most of the entertainment crew also did these shows. We usually finished the night at the SportsBar. We loved Moy, Luis and Caesar. They make the best Bahama Mama's with real banannas. They bartenders were always good at the bars. The maids did a great job keeping the rooms cleaned and this resort was super clean. This was a great resort for the entire family.

  • Liked — Beautiful pools and pool activities
  • Disliked — 45 Minutes drive to airport

I stayed at the Hotel Riu Santa Fe June 6th-10th 2008. I went for a family vacation with my husband and 2 boys( age 12 & 4). Let me start by saying our overall trip was good. We love Mexico and go at least once a year. We have stayed at the RIU Vallarta,RIU Cancun, RIU Palace Mexico in Playa del Carmen. The RIU Santa Fe did not meet my expectations in the way the resort is laid out. The resort is very big. Building #7, is were the ocean and infinity pools are. Which is a little walk back to buildings 1-6 which have two pools and most of the main restaurants. The food was good the average( AI). I am a picky eater and always found something good to eat. We ate at the main buffet for most meals. I loved the guacamole and salsa. Pools were nice a bit cool, but we were still able to enjoy them. Sometimes the pool hut ran out of towels. The ocean is another story. In order to get to the ocean front you have to slide down a 10ft sand dune. I was not expecting this. I love to sit right by the beach and watch the waves roll in. I was not able to do this at the RIU Santa Fe. All of the beach chairs are up the sand slope none, right on the water front . I guess they have the slope because the waves are big when they come in and the have to protect the beach area. Again just not what I expected. The ocean was cold so my boys and I only went in just to feel the water on our feet. The rooms nice and the staff is very nice & friendly. We met some very nice staff members on our visit. Overall the resort is very beautiful. We will not return to Cabo in general, but the RIU Santa Fe was worth the money.

  • Liked — The staff was great and very helpful.
  • Disliked — Distance of Buildings 1-6 from the Ocean.

The accomodations were nice, but I would not stay again! The food was horrible and to make a reservation at the restaurants you had to be up at 7:00 a.m. to wait in line each day. We ate at the Steakhouse one night and we got up and walked out. According to other people staying there, all of the restaurants were bad. We ended up eating out everynight and wouldn't eat lunch because the buffet was not good! The food downtown is wonderful! I would recommend Edith's & Trailerpark! I loved Cabo, but wouldn't go back to this resort.
