“Family Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

We stayed there from Jan.12 -19th with our Daughter her husband and 3 year old grand child .

Rooms. we stayed in rooms 1022 and 1023 across from each other on the ground floor we were close to the lobby , eating places and pool a fair walk to the beach the corridors are like tunnels and dark during the day and very noisy.Had to tell some rude girls to be quite at 3 am 2 out of the 3 nights they were there. The rooms are well stocked with 2 beds pushed together really how much time do you spend in the room.I would give rooms 5 out of 5 always clean

Ground and Beach. The grounds are immaculately maintained there are trimming and cutting all the time very nice. Once you got to the beach after walking past a spot were they must store the garbage (bad smell) it was a nice view I did find the sand hard on my feet and it is shaped like a ramp the red flag was up all week.Lots of peddlers trying to sell you there goods. We did not spent a lot of time there as the young one enjoyed the pool just as much.

Eating. We only eat at 2 a la carte restaurants Steak house and the Italian we enjoyed them both. We just found it just as easy to go to the Buffets with the young one and there was a good selection . Tours .we went to the marina one day $12 taxi ride nice yachts, but cost a lot to eat down there,we also took a water taxi $10 to the El arco lovers/divorce beach and seen some whales on the way back well worth the $10 .

Over all this is a nice resort for the cost,it does get very cool at night and the entertainment try hard .most important is my family had a great time and for this I give it a 10 out of 10

Room Tip: rooms 1022 and 1023 worked well for us

“Decent bang for your buck but shows, and entertainment were HORRIBLE.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013 via mobile

Grounds and rooms are very clean and presentable except for the fact we had mold all over our bathroom ceiling!

Most staff was friendly to talk to but really lacked for actual talent and entertainment.

Food was only ok...same ol same and VERY SALTY.

Location was great. POOLS are not heated at all. Too cold to swim in the first 5 days of our 7 day vacation.

My wrist band broke and guy at front dest was gonna charge me $68 canadian to replace it although i refused and situation was resolved and next morning a lady replaced my $68 plastic lol wrist band for free.

All in all average resort would only go back if the price was $800 or less for a week all inclusive.

“Great Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

I stayed here in September 2012 with some friends and it was a great time. I've stayed at other Riu resorts and this one definitely represents this reputable brand well.

The resort is massive - the biggest resort I've ever stayed at but it's well designed so all the buldings have a pool and restaurant near by. The pathways are quite wide to accomodate for high traffic, strollers, wheelchairs, etc and they are well lit at night.

The rooms are pretty standard and exactly the same as other Riu resorts. The bathroom is large with double sinks, towels, hair dryer and basic toiletries. All rooms have liquor dispensors and the mini fridge is stocked with beer, water and pop and is restocked every other day. I didn't use the TV or alarm clock. The bed was comfortable but you can hear sounds from the hallway so it might be an issue if you're a light sleeper. I always bring ear plugs when I travel so that might be helpful for you.

I found breakfast to be okay because of the limited selection but I also only ate at the restaurant near building 7 so I didn't get a chance to eat at the main buffet. Lunch was better and dinner was fantastic. I always had dinner at the main buffet which had so much selection that one couldn't help but to have more than one plate because everything tasted so good! You can get a snack (burger, hot dog or nachos) at the sports bar near the lobby at any hour of the day.

The pools, entertainment and fun atmosphere really sets this resort apart from other resorts that I've stayed at. We were a group of 25 friends and there wasn't one person who had anything bad to say about this resort or the time we had. There are two main party pools with swim up bars that over look the beach and ocean with DT Cabo as a backdrop so it really doesn't get much better than that. There are other pools for a more tranquil vacation but if you're looking for a fun time, this is the resort and Cabo is the city.

“Great trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

My gf and I stayed from Jan 3-13th. It was a great trip filled with lots of drinks, a lot of fun and a lot of late night. We were first put into Building 1 when we got there but we noticed we were walking over to building 7 constantly so we asked to move and it was no problem at all. The next day we were moved. Building 7 is by the ocean and where the party is at during the day.

Great staff there. They keep the resort very clean. They were able to make most drinks. Even caesars for us Canadians. The food...was iffy at best. The buffet was actually pretty good. Custom made omelettes in the morning and pasta for you for dinner. The buffet closer to the lobby is great for mexican food for lunch. The one by building 7 is pretty boring. The italina restaurant was awful (but we heard if you got the meat it was good). We walked out and went to the buffet. Asian restaurant wasn't great either. Mexican (went twice) and steakhouse were both very good.

20 minute walk down the beach (towards town) and you will find a $30 one hour massage on the beach. Great place, great massage. It's not in front of a hotel, it is on a public part of the beach.

30 minute walk to the mango deck. Crazy atmosphere there. Big party. Good drinking prices. food was expensive but very good.

On the second to last day we found out you can take the public bus that picks up right outside the resort gates for $1 into town instead of the $12 taxi rides. The taxi's definitely add up if you go into town a lot. Great clubs there which can be expensive but that's normal. Just take it all in. Go into the town during the day and go through the shops for souvenirs and go at night for a good time.

You need to wake up at 6:30 to get a good spot by the ocean pool, then go back to bed. If you stay in building 7 you can make your reservations there for the dinners.

Room Tip: Building 7 is the one closest to the ocean and it's where the party is during the day.

“riu santa fe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

we just got back from our trip to the riu santa fe and this is how we found it. we asked for ocean view and got ocean glimpses but we could see the arch and a beautiful view of the pools so we didnt change rooms. we found the resort it's self cheaped out every where possible from phoney juice sweetned with aspertime the one and only kind of beer and it was draft. the food was cold the coffee was terrible the nightly shows were horrible exept one, the michael jackson show was very good. couldnt swim in the ocean because of the undertow and even if there was no undertow, i wouldnt want to leave my stuff on the beach as mexican vendors walking up and down the beach selling there crap. the pools were too cold to swim in exept the pools with bars . there is no room service and no coffee makers in the rooms. but dispite all of this the natural beauty of the place shines through. the staff are so friendly and wonderful. the resort it's self is spotless and there was no end of fun things to do. the weather at night was cold and cold and overcast every morning untill 10:30 then a beautiful afternoon and cold again for evening day 86 evening 55 brrrr. cabo san lucas is a lot of fun, in all it was a great holliday. upon check out i asked for a bell hop because it seems like a mile walk between block 7 and front desk. i waited in my room for the bell hope gave hime 4 pieces of luggage and a big tip he said he would meet me in the lobby. 1/2 hour later he showed up. we locked my luggage in a room for our trip to the airport and some how between then and the 4 hours till the bus they lost a piece of my luggage. a few things need improving before i will stay at another riu. ps still waiting for my missing luggage.
