“Relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

Two pools for a choice of quiet and resort/fun. Good value/all-inclusive.

Location is a hike from Medano Beach and about a $10+ taxi per person to town.

The steak restaurant was the best. I would pass on the Asian restaurant.

Making reservations at restaurants a hassle - have to be up at 7am to get in.

Room Tip: Even though a hassle, get at the reservations desk at 645am to make dinner reservations at steak hou...

“Liars and Money-grabbing Thieves”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

All the general stuff has been covered 100s of times so here are some other things I think you should be aware of:

Liars - because every time I went to either of the main pool bars to get a cocktail the liquor was so watered down I couldn't tell I'd had an alcoholic drink after. When I complained I was told I was incorrect - didn't I see them pour the 'bottles' in my drink? Of course I did, however that doesn't mean they had any alcohol in them. I had the same experience every time so I stopped trying. It's a total disgrace since the all-inclusive liquor is one of the main reasons many people go and they flat out lied to my face about it.

Thieves - because when I went to check out I found I didn't have one of the two room keys they had initially given me (my 1 year old daughter was playing with it...). The manager then told me that I had to pay $25 as a penalty. I said this was unacceptable since a) the cost of a standard key (no special markings and wasn't electronic) is <$5 in NYC and this was Mexico (!) and 2) it's antiquated to still have metal keys - all other hotels have key cards that don't cost anything if you lose them, so I shouldn't be penalized, esp as I'd stayed 2 weeks and so paid so much money to the resort. The woman manager told me I would not be allowed to leave until I paid the $25 and instructed the concierge not to let me get into my waiting taxi.

Begrudgingly I paid, however as soon as I had left I found the key in one of our bags so I called them to ask for a refund, offering to mail it back. They told me they would ask the manager but never called me back. I called 5+ times and sent multiple e-mails; no response. They were so desperate for the $25...the rudeness and aggression they showed me and my family incident totally ruined our trip.

I will never go back and I would highly recommend you to do the same.

Room Tip: Don't stay facing the main pool since it's extremely noisy due to all the (moronic) games th...

“Almost Perfect...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

So much at Riu Santa Fe is to die for - economical and all-inclusive. Beautiful buildings and grounds, well maintained. Great amenities. Very nice rooms. Great service and friendly staff. The pools are great - especially the infinity pool. And the Cabo area has great activities for all ages - golf, site seeing, snorkeling, shopping, etc. The climate is great. Very little chance of rain. We were there in late November and the day time high never dipped below 85.

While admittedly, we were not there during the spring break season, the variety of vacationers - families, senior citizens, international travelers, as well as young adults - we did not find the freely available booze led to any obnoxious behavior by guests. There was a great variety of entertainment on site.

As an all-inclusive, the food and drinks were bountiful. So what's the draw back? While the quantities of food and booze were unlimited, the quality of both left something to be desired. That's it...the food and booze were not the best. But if you can put up with that, this is a great vacation destination.

Room Tip: Spend the extra to get an ocean view room. That will put you in building 7, wrapped around the infi...

“Made our honeymoon amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012 via mobile

Me and my husband came to the Riu Santa fe for our honeymoon and were very happy with this resort. From the second we got there it was amazing. This resort was very clean and very big. The pools were nice and clean and the staff was awesome!!! The food was really good, repetitive but very good. The beach was beautiful and we enjoyed swimming in the ocean so close to the resort, was easy to go downtown and lots of friendly people everywhere. Only thing I would change a bit was our room, our room had a smell to it when we first got there but other than that was good. Air conditioning worked and kept us very cool... All in all we had an amazing time and will be going back for sure!!!!

“the good and the bad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

A 900 room hotel clean well kept grounds and rooms.Poor a la carte restaurants both for food and ambiance, horrible house wine and no other option than buy your own at Costco which a large number of guests did. The staff were very friendly and the buffet selection was awesome

Room Tip: rooms facing pools are your best option
