After reading many mixed reviews about the Riu Sante Fe, I was very excited to go and experience it for myself. My friends and I arrived and were very impressed with how beautiful the property was. Our check in was a breeze, and very accomodating. Juan was so helpful, we truly felt welcomed. I have been to many all inclusive resorts, and I found the Riu to have a great variety and very tastful food. The Asian restaurant was INCREDIBLE!! Even though it was buffet style, we really enjoyed it, as we got our food right away, and we were able to sample many different things, that we wouldn't have just ordering off a menu.

We had a very relaxing vacation, and felt the staff went out of their way to make you feel special. The entertainment crew were very fun, and tried their best to keep the crowd pleased. The bartenders were very efficient, our favorite was Moy. He's the best, you never had an empty drink in front of you...he's amazing!

We never had any problems with theft, as many previous reviews have. You just have to be smart..don't even tempt the maids!! Our rooms were very well kept and our mini fridge was always fully stocked.

The resort size reminded us of a campus, but we fully enjoyed the walking!! It was great exercise everyday!! It helped to burn off all the wonderful food and drinks we were served during our stay.

Keep in mind the staff works so hard to keep that resort running smoothly...treat them with respect and it's amazing what you will get in return.....a fabulous stay at the Riu Sante Fe!!!!!

We enjoyed our stay at the Riu Santa Fe Jan 24 to Jan 30 2008. As we have stayed at another Riu before (Riu Bachata in Domincan Republic-a stay at 1 play at 3) we felt that this would be a good choice. We were right, the service, the food, the room, the grounds, the pools (cool but very refreshing) were all very good.

The Riu chain should be very proud of there staff, they are very friendly, helpful and accomidating. Although there maybe some vacationers who may disagree that was our experience with them. You certainly can't please everyone and people have there own tastes and expectations while they travel you just have to keep in mind that you are in a different country and there way of life may be different from ours. I found Mexico to be very laid back and not in any hurry which suits me fine. Relax you are on vacation!!!!

For just opening November 2007 they have done very well and do try to do there best to accomodate there guests.

The start of our trip started off very good. We had excellent service with SkyService, they were very efficient. They max amount of time we waited in line to check in was approx 10 - 15 mins if that. We had a bit of a delay due to de-icing but what do you expect living in Canada...Although the flight was very long approx 5 hours everything went smoothly when we landed in Los Cabos airport. We did have a bit of a delay my understanding was there computers were down but once they got them up and running (approx 1/2 hour) it went smoothly.

Very Important: When you arrive in the airport and have gone thru Customs...Do Not get sucked in by someone claiming they are with Sunquest Vacations and that you need to go to this particular counter to get your bus number...Beware it is a scam they are just trying to sell you time shares... Your representative if they happen to be Sunquest will have orange colored jackets and will be outside waiting for you with a check list and Resort name.

Once we got thru the scam and realized what was going on we quickly found our Sunquest represenative and got on our bus. The bus ride took approx 45 mins which seemed long enough. Our check in at the resort went smoothly although our room wasn't ready yet they set our luggage aside while we headed for drinks and bite to eat.

Once we got settled it was smooth sailing from there on...My choices at the buffet was mostly fruit (the freshed selection ever), fish, rice and of course guacamole and salsa...My all time fav. If you didn't like the choices of food or just got tired of the buffet you could always head into Cabo and try out the restaurants in town. We went in one afternoon to Cabo and experienced a bit of Caba San Lucas. We went to "The Office" which was right on the beach, another little spot called the "Tanga Tanga" (really good hamburgers) it was close to the Marina. We also went in one night to check out the nightlife and ended up at the Cabo Wabo as well as the Giggling Marlin. Great spots!

All in all it was a great experience at the Riu Santa Fe and I can't wait to go back again! Next time we'll be bringing more friends!

We stayed at this new property for a long weekend. The property is new and very clean. The food is the biggest drawback to the resort. They require reservations at every restaurant except one, which is the buffet restaurant. That is where the tricky part comes in, all of the restaurants are at least partially or completely buffet. All of the food seems to be the same from the buffet but in different locations. They have tried to create different themes, but the only thing they have done is move the food to a different room. The creation of ambiance is impossible due to the fact that every light in the room is on!
We attempted to make reservations at the "steakhouse" everyday at the general reservation table that was open from 8 am to 11 am everyday. Everyday the only available reservation was 9 pm. This becomes suspicious because you can only make reservations for that day. We tried at 8 am and still the only time available was 9 pm.
Also the air conditioning in our room had a problem. It did not remove any humidity from the air. This compounded to the point that our passports curled at the edges while in the safe in the closet.
If you are a food person, I would look else where for a resort.

We stayed at the Santa Fe from Jan. 19 -25. The weather was great(upper 70s to low 80's). The resort was beautiful and very clean. The people who work there are all very nice. Our room was also very nice and well kept by the maid(be sure to tpi the maid)We had two bed that we pushed together. The food was okay, not to bad ,not real great. Some of the food would tend to dry out over time as it sat. The drinks, Wow ! The bartenders were on it. They may not have known all the drinks ,but they would try if you told them how to make it. The pools were cold until you got use to them. The swim-up bar down by the beach, the first one you see walking to bldg #7 is heated. We walked to town on the beach(30-40 min walk). It was hard to walk beacuse of the slop of the beach.( unless you have one really short leg and one long one) The town was beautiful. We shopped, walked around, and ate. (we ate at the Cabo Wabo, also at Hard Rockthe day of our whale trip) On the way back we took a water taxi out to Lands End then back to the resort. We went atv riding one day, and took a whale watching trip another day. (both great trips)All in all we had a great trip. This resort is not ready to be a 5 star yet, maybe a 3 to 3 1/2, but don't let this stop you from going. This was only thier second month to be open. We can't wait to go back. Just remember go with an open mind. That is what we did, and we had a blast. Dont let the negative reviwes worry you.

My review is simple.......don't believe all of the negative things you read on here about the hotel in other reviews. My girlfriend and I found the place to be very clean, good service, & worth the $. The views closest to the rock formataions were fantastic! No, the food wasn't 5 star but it was acceptable. The "long" walk to the beach is written by folks who need to get some exercise! It was a short walk that was welll worth the time in the sun!
recommend this place, it was worth the $.
