Thank you all for taking the time to write reviews. It helped me so much!

I bought off someone's timeshare week at PDS from an ad on Craigslist for cheap. I was there July 27 - Aug for the week. PDS is super chill and relaxing. I went with my bf, and although there are not very many young couples, we loved it! I requested the new building and we got a studio on the 4th floor of the new building overlooking the ocean. I loved hearing the ocean waves crashing when I woke up and went to bed. We went to the Mega the day we got there and I cooked breakfast almost every morning. Those were some of my favorite meals! I liked that we got to explore the little town of San Jose. We took a day to explore it. Its small, colonial and quaint.

At PDS, the front desk people are cool, the pool bartender (Maria Jose) super sweet and makes a mean pina colada. I didn't really like the concierge lady. Prob cuz I thought she was kinda fake. For the most part the timeshare people didn't bug us because we look kinda young (25, and 28) and I was clear that I wasn't interested. We took the city bus to San Lucas 3 or 4 times. It was 2.50 a person one way. I went straight to the source when it came to buying the activities. I would suggest doing your research online and even booking it online unless you want to deal with the annoying sales dudes at the marina.

The only sucky part about staying in San Jose is that the last city bus from San Lucas to San Jose is at 10ishpm. So we only partied hard one night and blew 30 or 40 bucks on a taxi at 3 or 4 am. Yes San Jose is super chill at night and things close pretty early. But I loved how the beaches are lonely and romantic as opposed to San Lucas, however San Jose's are not very swimmable, mostly surfable. The PDS pool is nice but not deep, the pool bar closes early. This place is super family and kid friendly. All in all you will have a nice time. Next time, I want to stay in San Lucas or rent a car. The transportation curfew was the only thing that bugged me a little. :)

Oh also, the towel attendant (I forgot her name but she's also super sweet) told me that they are doing more construction in Sept, maybe Oct. They are still building and making it even bigger and better with another pool. Just FYI if you're planning on going around that time.

Any questions or need suggestions feel free to send me a message.

Just got back and had a great time. Was very worried about ending up in the old LaJolla building but wasn't. Turns out that they use that for overflow until the construction of their buildings is complete. Owners and Interval International get priority in the new building over RCI and others. In any case, call up and talk to Tanya. Making friends with her and Gabriel will make your stay MUCH better as both are very helpful.
The rooms are fantastic though the beds are a bit hard.
The pool is nice and there was never a lack of chairs... oh, and when they say the ocean has a bad rip, they're not kidding. Makes for great waves though.
San Jose is quaint but it (and the resort) shuts down very early.

If you decide to do the tour its really not that bad and you get 15% off all food, drink and services at the resort and various discounts at other places around town. They say it only 90 minutes but thats after breskfast which is after a short prep talk with the runner. Be warned that the guy who does the "exit interview" is an arrogant jerk that'll make your skin crawl.

Where we ate:
Shooters: Great little roof top bar with surprisingly good food and great prices. (Also, they get the US sat feed for sports etc...)
Jasmine's: Good food, fun atmosphere, great prices.
Tropicana: Fun time with live music on Fridays & Saturdays
Mi Cocina: Pricy but fantastic food and the courtyard dining area with fire pits, palm trees and sculptures was beautiful.
7 Seas at teh Cabo suf Hotel: good food but you can't beat the view as its right on the ocean.
"C" at the One & Only: Obviously expensive but one of the better meals I've ever had. Have to save time for a drink after at the ocean bar too.
I'd also reccomend that you do late dinners (like 9PM) as the nights activity. Plus, then you get to enjoy the entire day at the pool.

Other things to help you out... there is no SPA but the beach massages are nice and the Cabo Surf has a nice SPA and is just a few minutes down the beach... there is no gym on site but you can join a place near the mega for the week. Its called one on one fitness..... hit the Mega your first day and stock up on water and snacks etc but avoid the people in Orange shirts. They don't actually work there, they just help you find your OJ and then follow you all over the place trying to get you to do a tour. (note. If you are willing to do a tour on your trip do one through these pwople as they offer cash. They'll start you off at $200 but you can probably get $400 out of them as they do this b/c they get $600 per tour they book from the resorts as their commision.).....
Oh, and if I didn't mention this before, make sure to make friends with Tanya and Gabriel.

My family and I stayed at Playa del Sol for one week starting July 26, 2008.

After reading reviews on Tripadvisor about the shabbiness of the old La Jolla building I called a couple of times to request a unit in the new buliding. I called again about a week before we left and spoke to a young man named Marco Polo. I asked him for his personal help in securing a unit in the new building and offered to pay him $100.00 cash when we arrived if we were successful in getting into the new building.

We arrived at the airport and took a private van from Cabo San Lucas Tours. It was a nice way to get to the resort.

At check-in Marco Polo was there to help. We were put in room #1109 - a two-bedroom unit on the first floor closest to the pool. It was wonderful. Money well spent. Our teenage daughters and their two friends shared a double bedroom and my wife and I had the king suite. The only problem I had with our accomodations is that the king bedroom does not face the beach. Oh well!!! The unit was great. Very spacious, three full bathrooms, living room and full kitchen. We were able to walk to the beach and pool right from our patio. it was so nice to hear the ocean roar day and night. Much nicer than hearing cars roaring along the highway.

I enjoyed that the resort was small and quiet. The pool was nice with plenty of comfortable chaise lounges around it. There was a swim-up bar with a very friendly waitress named Maria Jose. We got to know her with our daily visits.

The massages on the beach were also wonderful. For $45.00 a one hour massage with the wind softly blowing and the waves crashing towards shore. How many massages did I enjoy? I visited them every other day for a total of four. I enjoyed the late afternoon best when the breeze would pick up and it wasn't as hot.

We went to the Mega store to stock up on food and drink. Their bakery was especially good with fresh rolls at only 1.1 pesos (11 cents). One thing we kept running out of was beer so we had to make regular trips during the week. There are always taxis waiting and the cost back to the resort is $5.00.

Some restaurants we ate at were -

Zippers - right on the beach, about a ten minute walk, casual and good food.

Tropicana - In town on the main drag, upscale and a little pricey but also very good, they had live music and we found ourselves dancing in the aisles with some locals that just got off work.

El Vaquero - our favorite, on the main square, delicious prime rib with all the fixings. They just opened a few months ago, so we did not know about them from any travel websites, just happened to walk by after church on Sunday and took it from there.

Most activities are in Cabo San Lucas. We did find a wave runner rental at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in San Jose. Pricier than San Lucas ($60.00 for 30 minutes) but they picked the six of us up and drove us back afterwards.

We also used Cabo San Lucas Tours for an ATV tour. We took the Migino Beach tour the last time we visited Los Cabos, this time we added the La Candalaria (A small village in the mountains) portion for $63.00, just $18.00 more than the beach tour but it included lunch and about 1 1/2 hours of additional riding. We loved it!

We also took the Ecocat sunset dinner tour. This is a new outfit out of Cabo San Lucas. I booked directly from their website for $49.00 a person. It was a real bargain, many of the other sunset cruises charge more and don't include dinner. They offered free drinks and everyone was up dancing to the music. The views of Lover's Beach and the Arch were spectacular.

My wife and I loved San Jose for the quaintness and less frantic mood. We went into Cabo San Lucas the day of the dinner cruise and were happy to get back to our little Shangri-la by the sea.

I loved Play Del Sol - the resort, the staff, our room. The best vacation I have ever had. Muchas Gracias, Sensational Seis!

After reading the reviews, I was scared of what I was getting myself into. I exchanged thru Interval International to this resort, and it was my understanding that there were old buildings and they opened a new building in August 2007. Well, I arrived at the resort and was politely greeted at the front desk with English speaking employees. Very nice; arrived early around 3ish, but room was not ready. It was ready at 4 pm which was okay because that is check-in time anyways. I had emailed them a week early to ask for a suite in the new building because of the bad reviews about the old buildings. Well, they don't even own the old buildings anymore. They have one new building and will be completing the second phase of the resort in December 2008 which includes another pool. I was quite surprised when I opened the door to my suite. It was absolutely beautiful, just like the pictures on their website. Granite countertops in kitchen with stainless steel applicances and marble in the bathroom with spa tubs. The decor was also beautiful. The only problem was it was a ways away from the pool, but that was okay. We had a ocean front view and waking up to that was absolutely breathtaking. There was only one restaraunt on the premises which was okay but the same thing, and a bit pricely but not bad. We rented a car right there on site and the price was much better than what the airport had quoted, $150 cheaper. It was worth it because Cabo San Lucas was 30 minutes away and taxis are very expensive, cost to Cabo $35 one-way so we got our money's worth. We went into Cabo every day because that is where all the action was. I am glad I choose this resort for peace and quite and not busy at all. Never had to worry about beach or pool chairs because there was always many available. If you like low key, this is a nice resort. If you want to be in the limelight, stay in Cabo. Didn't know this before I went, but didn't dampen my vacation at all. It is every expensive over there. Food, drinks, everything. Take lots of money. Good resturants in Cabo was Captain Fish at the new Paradise Plaza Mall along with Peacocks and few others. Like I said, very pricey but worth it. They have Hard Rock Cafe and Johnny Rocket there also which is good for regular stuff. To party you have to go to EL SQUID ROW. It is basely for the young crowd, 18-20 years old; my finace and I are in our late 40's and we enjoyed it very much. It was good to laugh and dream of being that young again with so much energy. Overall, the resort was great, and I would go back definitely. I have pictures, but they are just the same as the ones in the photo gallery. Very nice.

I booked my week through Trading Places Trading Company. I went to Cabo with a married couple and one of our friends. We all are in our thirties. I can say reading the lasts reviews before I left for Cabo, helped out a tremendous amount. I booked my ride to and from the airport I booked with Transcabo. http://www.cabosanlucastours.net/Airport-Shuttle.htm

I learned to be firm and strong that you do not want to stay in the old building so I did. I explained to the gentlemen that I wanted to be placed into the new building. I explained that I called the resort and requested to stay into the new building. He was extremely nice and joked around with us and he sent us to our room. The bell man noticed we were booked into the old building I was very upset. By the way it is horrible. (No view and everyone we spoke staying in the old building were very disappointed about it and will not go back.) I went back to the front desk to see why we were put into the old building, when the gentlemen told us he was putting us into the new building. It took us along time to get checked in and we were not happy about it. The rooms were gorgeous and vary spacious. We had a two bedroom unit on the third floor of the new building. The best part of the whole place was the nice rooms. The pool was ok and the beach was fun we went down there. The house keeping was extremely great. We did have one problem with a glass braking and there being no broom in the room it took housekeeping 3 hours to come assist us on cleaning the glass up. The keys systems keep messing up. There was other guest complaining about the keys not working. Every time we went somewhere we would have to walk all the way back down to reprogram a new key. We finally just started to get new keys on day 5. There timeshare system sucks. They told us 2 hours, yea 4 hrs later we finally were done with the timeshare presentation. I would never recommend anyone to go to a timeshare presentation without being paid $300 per couple. They will pay it. Tell them when you set it up you want $300 they have to give it to you if they say they will and they will. We never booked any of our activities at the resort it was cheaper to go down by the company and do it yourself. We went on the jungle cruse extremely fun and the Ecocat tours very nice. We rented a car it was a lot cheaper than riding in a taxi and a bus are confusing. I would love to go back to Cabo but next time I will be staying in down in Cabo. I have been to Mexico three times and I would say it is very nice and I hope next time I will have a better experience.
