The resort is GORGEOUS! Service Superb!

Check in went smoothly since we called daily to confirm our reservations after reading about the problems in the past.

We had the 2 bedroom suite on the 4th floor. It was one of the NICEST rooms that I have ever stayed in! The room was VERY clean and well decorated! The kitchen was beautiful (no oven. dishwasher or laundry). They did have a mini-bar if needed. One thing that was disappointing was that the hotel's water was not drinkable.

We rented a car. I think this is a MUST even though US 1 is dangerous to drive on at night! The resort shuttle stopped at 8pm to Cabo San Lucas and it didn't go to San Jose. There was a Mega (similar to Target) store on the way from the airport to the hotel on US1. There was also a Costco and Walmart between the hotel and Cabo San Lucas. Groceries there were much cheaper then the hotel! (It is about 10pesos to the dollar). US dollar accepted everywhere. We took day trips to the beaches (since there is no beach on the resort) - Santa Maria, Chileno and Tulum beaches are a must see! At night time we drove and parked our car at the Marina Fiesta (sister resort) for free and we went to dinner and clubs (Cabo Wabo and Squid Roe). Just be prepared, after 10pm the valet service ends and security has to get your keys and lead you to the parking lot.

Breakfast and dinner at the hotel restaurant were good but the service was slow. The food was delicious but cold when arrived. We traveled to San Jose and had a great lunch at the Tropicana and dinner at Tequila's (great steak!) Other nights we ate in Cabo San lucas - Amarone (fair Itialian food), Edith's (mexican - phenomenal -if good enought for Giada De Laurentis then it was exceptional dinning for us!), NickSan (sushi - pricey , specials were good but everything else terrible and service horrible).

Pools were beautiful and relaxing when the jackhammers took a break at the property next door (they were building a wall which will probably be done this week). Otherwise you never knew construction at the Hacienda was going on. Free rafts at the pool which the guest shared. Happy hour 4pm - drinks buy one get one free.

Service was GREAT! RIgo, Armando and Marco were always available to help you, drive you around the property in the carts or get your car from the parking lot.

Wish the beach, spa and gym were completed - Also, there is no walking or exercising here with the hills and lack of pathways. once the resort is completed this will be the resort of my DREAMS.

One thing - it might be helpful to sign up for a timeshare presentation at the airport (tell them you are scheduled at the hacienda encantada (some people offered up to 400per couple). The reason why is that when you arrive at the hacienda the sales people will ask you to go to the timeshare presentation every time you see them in the lobby. If you have a previous offer they will match it, give you a discount card for drinks/dinner/spa/activities on and off the resort, and stop bothering you! After we had breakfast and spent our 90 minutes with the presentation - the timeshare sales people never bothered us again. It was also nice to not have to drive to another resort for the presentation. We just rolled out of bed.

Overall, we had an amazing time and look forward to returning in December or next year when it is completed!

We traded thru Interval for this vacation. I will start of by saying THANK YOU to the wonderful family from California who reached out with a helping hand to two perfect strangers to help us in such a desperate situation upon check-in. Bill, Barb, and Britney- you will never be forgotten! So far all the other reviews for this resort have been right on the money..so I'll try not be repetitive. The resort has some of the nicest views I've ever seen. Eventually when the resort is 100% complete there will be a few rooms with only a scenic view- but for now what is finished are all ocean views and spectacular. The infinity pools cascading into one another over look the same spectacular view. You will not be bothered by any construction noise, since the crashing of the waves on the sea cliff will drown most other noises out. Be forewarned, the help is VERY SLOW. (except at the pool) and the food is just o.k., Heads up on the shuttle, it is NOT free unless you are an owner. If you're looking for a quiet, secluded type of vacation with great view, If you don't care about not being right down town amist all the craziness- then this is the place for you. However, I feel compelled to warn anyone trading with Interval. We arrived at 6pm after a 7 hour fight to find that our reservation (although confirmed with us personally through Interval)- had never been confirmed to the resort. We were the third couple this happened to that day. We were one of a dozen couples with some sort of check in problem in general. The other 2 couples were sent to the Hacienda's sister resort in down town Cabo. We were fortunate enough to be checking in next to a couple who had been given a one bedroom unit with a "lock-off", and when they over heard our problems they leaned over and offered us their lock-off unit till we could resolve our problems with Interval. The guest relations employees spent two days with us calling interval, only to get nowhere. since there are no supervisors working for Interval over the weekend. Come Monday we were back at guest relations trying to get Interval to help once again.. Three phone calls later, we were placed on hold for 25 minutes before one of the Hacienda managers finally told us to hang up. We ended up being offered one of the owner's rooms since the owner had decided not to come. What the Hacienda failed to tell us till the day we checked out- was that all the phone calls they made to Interval on our behalf were being charged to our room! 5.00 per minute! You are not allowed to leave the resort in any other taxi service but the one they have contracted.. and you can't get in the taxi without a "check-out voucher", you won't get a check-out voucher unless you have paid your bill in full. Needless to say- we paid our bill with our credit card, knowing we could at least try and dispute the charges once we got home. We were told we could get 100 dollars off our bill at the end of the week as well as a dinner cruise for 2 if we signed up for the orientation and sales presentation so we did. We got our dinner cruise, but upon checking out we were told we can't have the 100 dollars off our bill, that we were suppose to use the 100 dollars at the restaurant only. My husband is a police officer and is usually very suspicious of anything free that is promised, so we asked "Maria" 3 times if we could use the 100 dollar voucher at check out and she said, "Oh yes sir, No problem at all"..We argued with management for a half hour at check out and were finally given 75.00 dollars off of our bill. Needless to say, we did not become "owner"- as a result we felt like we were treated like second class citizens most of the week. I don't know if it's because we didn't become owners or if it's because of all the problems we had due to Interval- We hung out with one couple during the week that got 400.00 dollars (cash) from the Hacienda for going to the same sales presentation, because they threatened to go to a different presentation down town. and we had to fight for 75.00 dollars! The whole experience was very stressful. (word to the wise- "play the game" when agreeing to sign up for the sales presentation!) As for Interval, you robbed us of a "relaxing" vacation! and to Hacienda Encantada- your help needs to be better trained, your attitude toward non-owners needs to change. We may not have become owners, but we were still paying customers who tipped your help very well and spent money at your restaurants and bars. In the end- should you let this review discourage you from going? NO- just do yourself a favor...Call the Hacienda before arriving to confirm with them. Do not rely on Interval. Be prepared for slow service. Don't rely on the shuttle, rent a car from them even if it is just a few days- I think it's 55.00/day. Go to the market for some food and drinks for your room. Don't get caught drinking your own beverages at the pool- because they will tell you it's not allowed. Be EARLY for the shuttle which is usually running late-but they over-book it (only 10 passengers per shuttle) and if you aren't up there 15 minutes early they will blame you for being late instead of blaming themselves for over-booking. Then instead of getting a second shuttle for you at the reduced rate, make you take a taxi which costs 40.00 dollars round trip. Do expect awesome views a somewhat secluded feeling..and near perfect weather!

We are owners here at the Hacienda Encantada. We bought two years ago when there was nothing built at all. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived this trip to stay. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The decor is a tasteful, homey, Mexican style. The tiles on the floor are adorable. I love the jetted tub in the bathroom. One of the best things is the huge deck-much bigger than most resorts, that overlooks the Sea of Cortez. You can hear the waves crashing against the rocks 24/7. There are views from all the rooms in Phase 1 as well as from the pool. They are building Phase 2 right now and I was prepared to listen to construction noise but I can not hear it at all. The negatives are that at this point there is no spa and no gym. Eventually this place will have multiple pools, waterslides/kids area, more places to dine. It will be incredible when it is complete. Right now you probably would not want to bring teens unless they are book worms-they would be bored. There is a free shuttle to town from the hotel every two hours. We are about 10 minutes from the main town of Cabo San Lucas and about 20 minutes from San Jose Del Cabo. We rented a car directly from the hotel and got a low rate. The food here at the hotel is priced not as high as some places you might find. A hamburger at the pool is like $10. We are really enjoying our stay. The staff is always nice and always friendly and helpful. The timeshare people actually seem kind of honest here. They don't seem to be scum bags like most. They just show the resort and it sells itself. If you decide you want to buy say no alot of times because then they will make the deal sweeter and sweeter. Also, if you want to go to a presentation don't sign up here at the hotel. Go into town and sign up on the street somewhere because they will pay couples like $300. to come. At the hotel they will only give you like $50. gift certificate.

Just returned from a week in Cabo San Lucas at the Hacienda Encantada.--Not yet a resort and Spa as it is not yet close to completion but you are totally unaware of the construction going on around you unless you look for it. We stayed in a junior suite with kitchen facilites and all the small applances you could need. The rooms were very well appointed and we had a large deck from which to sit and enjoy the view. The infinity pools overlook the Water where you can watch the whales, dolphins and Rays play as we did one morning at breakfast.--Awsome way to start the day. The resort is located off the main road and out of Cabo about 15 minutes so it is quiet. The staff are very helpfull and there is a free shuttle every two hours into Cabo. There are two active restaurants on the premisis, others on the way but not yet opened when we were there.

We stayed the last week of October 2007. We knew before arriving there was still a lot of construction going on. However, Hacienda Encantada far exceeded our expectations. Unless you really look over the edge from the lobby or the restaurant you really don't notice the building of Phase II going on around you. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and huge. 2100 sq ft two bedroom suites with 3 full baths, full kitchen, and 2 verandas overlooking the Sea of Cortez where you can watch the gorgeous sunsets. There are five connecting infinity pools that spill over into each other. There was a problem with a pump & drain so the "infinity" edge effect wasn't fixed until our last day. The pool bar was incredible with a flat screen plasma tv, nice sound system for music and a an outdoor grill area where Antonio, the chef, made us yummy chicken mexican spring rolls and the best quesidillas. You will have to take a golf cart type transport everytime you want to leave the property or go to the main restaurant but it's not so bad. We would call and someone would be there within 5 minutes. I hope this type of service continues as the place gets busier AND bigger. Due to the low occupancy we felt like we had plenty of space to spread out and enjoy. TIP: watch the charges. They are expensive and the drinks were a bit watered down. Also, the restaurant was nicely appointed but the food was not so great. There are definitely better places to eat -like lunch by the pool. Tell Antonio, Lani & Mariana said so!
