My boyfrinend and I along with his sister and boyfriend stayed at Villa del Arco from June4th through June 11th 2007. The trip was horrible from the moment we landed at the airport. My sister-in law had a luggage tag stolen from her luggage at the airport. It had to have been purposely removed because it was a belt style buckle. Then we had to haggle with taxi drivers that bombarded us at the exits. It was $75.00!!!! for a 20 mile trip!! After a very scary drive to the hotel, we were told our rooms were not ready...seems odd that they never have rooms ready. We sat down with the concierge who did give us some helpful information on the hotel and activities. We were not pushed to buy a timesahre because we were there on a timeshare as a gift. The room was absolutely gorgeous. Right off the bat My boyfriend cut his finger very badly. We tried to get some kind of first aid at the but were told there was nothing any one could do. Not even a band aid. We had to go to the Palmita market and paid $25.00 american for a tube of Neosporin and some band aids. This cut sould have had stitches. We went to the pool and when we got out my boyfriends cigarettes and lighter MYSTERIOUSLY were missing. I finally spotted them at the Concierges table by the stairs. I said excuse me these are my boyfriends. He said well thats going to be $18.00!!!!!!! I was FLOORED! I picked them up and began to walk off and he said "EXCUSE ME! Have you seen our timeshare presentation?! I cant believe they picked up our personal property to try to lure us into a timeshare. Further more, I got so sick of EVERYONE asking for a tip.!!!Watch out. When we took a water over to Lovers beach a guy came up and helped me off the boat since you have to jump from it into the crashing waves! I assumed he worked for the taxi company but I realized I was wrong then he asked for a tip! all he did was hold my hand! We told him we didnt bring any money to the beach (which we didnt) and he told my boyfriend we were CHEAP!!! The food at the Bucaneer was VERY expensive!!! And not that great. I would advise to eat downtown. But yet another down fall. The walk down the beach is BEAUTIFUL in the everning after all the vendors have gone. But once you get to the marina there is an overwhelming smell of GARBAGE!!! If you tak a taxi ride I hope you have a blind fold because it is SCARY!! the drivers drive extremely fast and recklessly! Then there are vendors on the marina. How ever I do have to say how wonderful the staff and food were at the GIGLING MARLIN! It was excellent! But we will never go back to Mexico!! And if you decide to, Learn a short phrase NO GRACIAS!!!! You'll need it to fight off all of the rude vendors.

  • Liked — The suites were very nice with large tubs and balconies
  • Disliked — The agressive staff and vendors on the beach

My husband and I just got back from our only one-week vacation of the year from Cabo San Lucas (May 30th-June 6th). We stayed at Villa del Arco and it was a horrible exprience from the minute we "checked in". We checked in at 3:30pm and were told that our room was "not ready" and were quickly shuffled to a second desk where we were told that we would not get our room until we signed up for the time share tour early the next morning and handed over $20.00 US dollars. We STUPIDLY agreed only because we were tired and wanted our room. They called us first thing in the morning the next day to remind us of our time share tour that would "only last 90min." but actually ended up lasting 3.5 hours. At the end of the tour, they would not take no for an answer and we ended up arguing with them, very frustrated. In the end we got a stupid gold card (I heard that if you didn't have one you were treated poorly) that only gave discounts at 10% (you can only use the coupons at happy hour, by the way happy hour is all day) and we were constantly harrassed about everything from booking activities to dinner throuought our entire stay. My husband's cell phone was stolen out of our rental car while it was parked at the hotel (not that much of a loss but worth mentioning). Speaking of food, it was absolutely sub-par. The Buccanier food was swallowable but not of fresh, good quality at all. You are really taking chances eating the food here, my husband projectile vomited while I did the same only on the other end for a couple of days. I encourage eating out for meals but if you do go to a nice restaurant you can expect to pay American prices, if not more. At Villa del Arco you have to check in and return towels for the pool every day or else you will get charged. You need to be at the pool by 8:30 am to get a good location even in the off-season, when we were there. Luckily we talked to some folks at the pool and thery referred us to the Sheridan Hotel (no timeshare BS) where we drove our rental car and had the most awesome, beautiful dinner of our lives. Overall, I will tell everyone I know not to ever book at this location and we will never return to Villa del Arco again (the sister resort, Villa del Palmar looks worse). The experience and energy in general is very negative and we would discourage anyone including families with small or adult children not to book at this location at all costs. By the way, the pool will cut you and your family up pretty bad, tiles are falling apart, rough, and there is a sharp, exposed copper wire for a pool light by the fountain by the Buccanier ship, be warned (I sliced the bottom of my toe on it). Book elswhere if possible, construction noise occurs on occasion, but not too bad. Massages are at the pool in front of everyone, only a few shrubs conceal the area, latino music blasting in the background, not my idea of a calm, relaxing atmosphere. On a good note, order the cadillac margaritas, they are good and strong.

We just returned from a seven day stay at the Villa Del Arco. We were very impressed with the resort overall. It was new, beautiful and everything was in immaculate condition. The beaches were pristine. We had a 1 bedroom suite which was perfect for myself, husband and 2 children. We found the pools to be very nice, one is heated and one is not. We do not have young children but the pools are great for them with a nice wading area. We had lunch several times at the Buccaneer ship and found the food to be good, burgers, chips & salsa, quesadillas, etc. The service was fairly good, sometimes the waiters seemed a little overwhelmed. Overall, they were friendly and willing to get whatever you needed. I have read a lot of comments on here about construction noise. In seven days, we only heard that twice and it was very brief. Looks like 90% of construction is complete and the spa should be opened in a short time. The timeshare people get you right at check-in. We went ahead and agreed to go to the presentation. They tell you 90 minutes but it is more like 3-4 hours. Since we were letting our kids sleep in, was not a big deal. The presentation is fairly strong but once you say no, you don't hear from them again. The gold card we got from attending gave us 30% off food at the resort and we also used to get discounted prices on our activities. There are plenty of activities you can plan onsite. The water taxis are very convenient. I would strongly encourage the glass bottom boat tour to Lover's Beach. That was one of our favorite activies. There is also parasailing, wave runners, horseback riding, ATV trips, etc. Prices seemed pretty reasonable for this. Everyone at Villa Del Arco seemed very eager to meet any request.

We also enjoyed going into town and walking around in the Marina area. There are so many boats!!! Also, plenty of restaurants - we enjoyed Alexanders, Cannella Cafe (I think that is the name), Ole Ole and Ruth Chris. Found the prices to be Ok. We also went to The Office, located on the beach. The food was good but pricey. Also, it is noisy due to the Mango bar next door. Was overall a fun excursion to go there. We also did a fishing trip which was fun. The fishing was a little slow but we did catch some tuna.

We got around using taxis, which were a flat rate of $7. They were plentiful at Villa Del Arco and anywhere in town.

I would highly recommend the Villa Del Arco for any age group. Also, Cabo is a very fun place and can be enjoyed by families or singles.

Beautiful Property and loved the Deluxe Suite. the hotel has the potential to be excellent however, from the moment you walk in you are harrassed with purchasing their time share and gold card program. Dont think it stops there.... they will continue to harrass while at the beach, sitting at the pool, basically if you need anything. Housekeeping was extremely rare and if they did come they always took the towels so you will have to call them daily to get a towel. Most importantly, the spa service. It took me 2 days to get an appointment for a massage at the pool. When apt. arrived the spa had overbooked and becuase the other member was a "gold" member they bumped me and could not get me a new apt.

we decided on this resort because of the activities, spa and location. I would not recommend this hotel if you have any expectations of service.

The property has strengths and weaknesses. For the strengths: This is a beautiful property with a good location. The air-conditioning is excellent. The pools are nice although 2 are too cold and one is too warm. Pool and beach wait staff are very nice. Now for the weaknesses. If you don’t sit through their sales pitch and get a gold card you’re treated like a 2nd class citizen for your entire stay by everyone. The front desk including the day managers have no concept of good customer service. The walls between the rooms are so thin that you have to hear your neighbors cough or snore all night. The doors on closets have are missing hinges and no closing hardware. It’s impossible to put makeup on in the bathroom because you only have one recessed light. Anyone with knee difficulties will have trouble getting in and out of the tub because the walls are about 3 feet high and 6 inches wide. Get up by 9 for a good seat at the prime pool. Beach area enclosure is about 10 yards wide and the hawkers are at you all day. Be sure to set the alarm because the hotel wakeup calls were 15 minutes late every day. If you’re on the lower floor expect your room to be made up at about 4 every afternoon and your towel will be hit or miss. Sandpaper towels. Definitely not 4 stars.
