“Excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014

My wife and I had a great time at this property this past week. The service was excellent and all of the staff was helpful and friendly, particularly Paul Cabanillas who waited on us for several meals at the El Patron restaurant at the property. We plan to return next year.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in building 2 on the sixth or seventh floor for a great view of the bay.

What a great resort this place is, we stayed in both A and B parts of a room and it was amazing! The rooms easily slept 6 and could have slept up to 10 and the daily room cleaning was awesome too. The rooms have everything you need from fans on the balconies to stove tops in the kitchen area. The resort itself was beautiful with some great food, nice pools, comfortable lounge chairs, and right on the beach even though the ocean can be kind of rough to swim in. I wouldn't say the food selection is very fast, I ended up eating tacos for lunch just about every day, but if you get the all inclusive and are worried about getting enough food you can order multiple plates at one sitting and they never care! I would like to give a shout out to Paul Cabanillas, what a fantastic waiter at the daily breakfast buffet at el patron. Very kind and helpful guy and fun to talk to as well, defiantly the best worker at the resort.

PS. take the time to jet ski! had a blast!

My family just came back from Cabo San Lucas and had a WONDERFUL stay at Villa del Arco! An absolutely beautiful resort on the beach with excellent food, accomodations, and service. I would especially like to thank Fernando Azcona as part of the Member Services team. He was there for us 100% of our vacation. Whatever we needed he helped supply. His dedication to the job is second to none. All the Best to Villa del Arco and Kudos to Fernando!!

Room Tip: Higher floors and on the beach

We loved it but there is a room for improvement. Our family of four ( 2 daughters, 14 and 18 ) spent 7 nights there in July 2014. The place, Cabo San Lucas, is a little paradise. The hotel is situated on one of the very few swimmable beaches at Cabo. The water is a gorgeous shade of blue and the sand is quite clean. The set up of the hotel itself is very nice. Several nice pools with lounge chairs and umbrellas, little bar/ship inside of one of them. The rooms are BIG and very comfortable. We were in a one bedroom suite with a jacuzzi and two bathrooms. There is a full kitchen in the suite. Very handy is the washer and dryer. The patio/ balcony is huge and most of the rooms have at least partial view of the ocean, even the ones called garden rooms. We got placed in a room above the water cooling system (2505) which was quite noisy and after our daily request got moved the third night to a quieter room. The meal plan was fantastic. The restaurants on the property are very good and pricey. We think the meal plan was definitely worth it's price. The drinks are ok, sometimes better then others. The service is SLOW. We did tip quite heavily and it speeds up the process only so ... Some of the waiters joke about the Mexican minute. You just have to relax and let it go.
The hotel did not feel overbooked. There could be more chairs around the pool for sure but it did not feel too busy or noisy there. Be ready to play the chair game there. Everybody saves their lounge chairs for the day. There is a rule of one hour save only but it's not working. They do try to enforce it somehow but really it just makes it worse. If you don't save your chair, you won't have one by 11.00 am, if you leave your chair, you risk they are going to take your towels and belongings away. They just need more chairs.
The biggest pain there is the wifi. DO NOT pay for the wifi. It is actually the slowest wifi on the property and you pay PER DEVICE per day $10. My husband needed to work there a little so he did buy the wifi. The fastest wifi is in the hospitality room. It is free as long as you get the password from the concierge. The next so-so wifi is in the lobby and this one is free too.
We experienced a little hurricane there. It lasted only 3 hours and did some serious damage. Flooding, electricity outage ( which killed the elevators ), broken glass tables, umbrellas, awnings, cacti...We were amazed how quickly the staff took care of everything. The weather cleared up by the afternoon and the hotel was back to normal then. Actually they were able to serve breakfast by 10 am. What an achievement!
We did go through the time share dance. Our first time ever. Our agents Phil and Doug were actually nice and we spent 4 hours with them. Not really forced till we said NO and were moved to a "prison" room with Bill. His extremely aggressive and offensive way of talk ended our session in my trembling hands and very serious complaint. Hope they fire him.
Overall we loved our vacation and would come back.
We would also recommend the hotel to our friends. We believe it is the best resort in Cabo. None of the negative things I mentioned were too important to us to spoil our vacation. They just could be improved. Especially if the hotel wants to call itself a 5 star hotel. But then it's probably Mexican stars.

Room Tip: Keep off the 2505 3403 is a good choice of "garden" room

Just returned from a 7 day trip at Villa del Arco. Overall, a very relaxing trip and we plan to return. BBBBuuuuttttt there were some areas for improvement:
1) received an e-mail letting us know we may be upgraded and moved to Del Estancia. Made airport pick-up plans accordingly. Apparently it was a false alarm. Ended up at Del Arco. They upgraded each of our four rooms to one room suites. Not sure if that was the plan all along...
2) Upon checking in, we learned that internet access was charged per device, not per room. Not too pleased...
3) Then learned the air conditioning was out for the next three hours.
4) About three days into the trip, one of the blades of the bedroom fan came flying off in the middle of the night. No one struck, but quite the scare. To their credit, it was fixed as soon as we called.
5) Mini hurricane hit which killed the elevators and hotel was not prepared for feeding the guests who didn't have options in their refrigerator. Fortunately, the rain/wind only lasted about 2 hours and things got back to normal within about 4 hours.
6) The last night had one of our air conditioning units dripping water on the floor. Yes, it was somewhat like a water torture even with the towel on the floor. When we got up in the morning, we learned the same leak occurred in the A/C in the kitchen which resulted in the kitchen counters covered with water including the "honor bar" food items. Since we were incorrectly charged for tapping into the "bar" earlier, we called the front desk to let them know of the issue. No charges and maintenance was up in the room shortly after calling.
7) All of the staff was very helpful and friendly and the food was excellent, the service was extremely slow, so plan ahead for a lengthy stay for breakfast or dinner.

We just returned from a week long vacation at the Villa del Arco. We were a group of 8 staying in four rooms. I can't say enough about what a wonderful time we had! This is a beautiful resort!! Victor at the restaurant made sure every evening that we had whatever we needed! Enrique was our poolside server everyday! We made sure to sit in his section and he never failed to take care of our every need! Food, cocktails, umbrellas or extra chairs... no request went unfulfilled!!! The kids loved Luis at the ship bar!!! We had a mini hurricane one morning during our trip. By one o'clock the staff had almost everything back in order! We were back at the pool (that was filled with lounge chairs and tables in the morning!!) enjoying our beautiful day!! The only thing I would say partly negative is, don't be in a hurry for dinner!! It's not that the service is bad because they are making sure you have water, drinks and bread. It seems the pace of the meal is much slower than we are all used to in our busy lives! My advice is slow down and enjoy your vacation! If you don't enjoy a trip to the Villa del Arco...I think the problem might be.....YOU!!!
