My boyfriend and I were in Cabo last week from Sept.22-29. Everything was perfect. There were some timeshare ppl at the airport, but they didn't bother us, they actually had some great deals for tours but we didn't book any. The check in was so quick, we got a room right away and we arrived at about 1:30pm. I was extremely happy to see that we got upgraded from the junior suite to the 1 bedroom. It was awesome to have the full kitchen and laundry and that huge balcony. Villa del Arco is so beautiful and modern and so comfortable. I would have hated to have stayed in a dirty room, but this resort is so clean. I was so proud to say 'We're staying at Villa del Arco!' The saltwater pool was amazing!!!! I hate chlorine pools and this was so nice and it was heated and just the perfect temperature!!
It is expensive to eat there, but with the full kitchen and the market not too far away, we saved by cooking some meals in our room. The market in town is way cheaper, however, we found a bag of coffee still too expensive $10USD! But sooo good!
I loved everything about our trip, except I wish the sand at the beach was white and I wish the undertow wasn't so bad. It was hard getting in and out of the water at lovers beach and had to be pulled out. Lovers beach was awesome, I've never seen anything like it. I loved the sea lions!
Overall I give Villa del Arco 5 stars and I will definitely go back!!!

Our vacaction was from Sept.22-25, 2007

Our family of four adults and two toddlers had a wonderful time at this hotel. We booked a two bedroom suite and when we checked-in, we received a corner room with an ocean view on the first floor. Initially, we were disappointed that we did not get a higher floor, however it turned out to be a blessing because we could go to the pool/ocean through our balcony door within steps. We went to the nearby Costco and got all the bottled water, beverages and grilled steaks... The kitchen was perfect for our family since it was difficult to eat out with toddlers.

Other reviews were correct, hotel pictures on websites are pretty accurate... just beautiful.

This was our first time to Mexico and we felt very safe... the whole experience was great. My only complaint would be the bill that we got from Thifty Car Rental... see letter below:

Dear Thrifty Corporate Headquarter:

I am writing because I believe that fraud has taken place at one of your Thrifty location.

I recently rented from a Thrifty location in Cabos, Mexico with a confirmation made on your website with a total estimated rate of $214 on the reservation. When I finished renting I was told that they couldn’t charge me in US-Dollars, but will have to convert it into “Mexican-Peso” and charge my credit card in Peso and my credit card will convert it back to US-Dollars. All this seems fine to me.

However, when I reviewed my credit card charges, it was $237. This did not make sense… how can exchange rates account for $23?

As I reviewed my contract more carefully, I realized that Thrifty Mexico had tried to cheat the system and blame it on exchange rates… let me explain further! Instead, of charging me the correct exchange rate at ~10.9 to convert it into peso, they arbitrarily picked 11.85 to inflate the charge to a higher peso price. They picked a higher exchange rate than normal and later can say it was daily or weekly fluctuations...

However, I reviewed and have a printout of exchange rates from MSN.com and nowhere in September 21st-30th did the rate go above 11 points…

I think this is deceptive on their part, and I am sure that I am not the only American that they have done this to… I know that $23 is not much, however I believe that you should do an investigation into this matter… not just my contract, but other rental contracts. I will certainly make a post on Trip Advisor to see if other people have had this problem. They are cheating consumers 10% by doing their “funny math.

  • Liked — size and view
  • Disliked — small mini-bar charge that we had to get removed at checkout because they mis-counted.

I just got back from visiting Cabo for the first time. I was there from Friday Sept 14th thru Monday Sept 17th.
We arrived in Cabo at around 12:00 pm- and decided to take the $80 cab ride which was about 45 minutes.
We arrived to the hotel at 1:00pm- room wasn't ready until 3:00 but told us they would have it ready by 2:00- which was nice.
The staff were nice but drinks and food were pretty expensive- coke in can was $3.50. The pool was very nice, lots of chairs and nice towels to use. Don't lose the towel key though- $25 per key!
The suite was amazing!! I travel a lot and this might very well be my favorite. It was probably around 800-900 sq feet with a kitchen, dining room/living room, bedroom with jacuzzi, 2 full bathrooms, washer/dryer etc. The balcony was cool- could probably fit 30 people on it!

The woman down stairs in the lobby area actually gave us her pass for the wholesale (BJ's like store) where we could buy some food and drinks and bring it back!

The resort was very safe- everyone has to be cleared b4 entering the hotel area by security. Not too many people selling stuff on the beach and bothering you - which was nice.
Wave runners were available right there for $45 per person for 30 minutes- but we got close to 1 hour b/c it was near the end of the day and the helpers didn't arrive yet.
I personally didn't have a problem checking out- but beware! The 2 couples next to me did and almost missed their bus. They literally check the room b4 they close out your tab.

The cab ride back to the airport only costs $65!!

All in all, I would go back.

  • Liked — Great suites and nice pool and ocean front
  • Disliked — It is 45 minutes from the airport

This is really the best Hotel of the 3 properties. Del Arco is the newest and seemed the nicest
After checking on many package deals I found Cheeptickets.com to give me the best price for my trip
I went in Sep it's a little muggy but still the weather is really nice.
Cabo has really grown up since last time I was down there; I liked the clean beaches and friendly staff. I will recommend this trip to anyone, but not if your on a budget.
I would recommend paying a little more for the one bedroom.
$7 cab ride to town and everything is there.
I will be back

My boyfriend and I were so thrilled with our stay! The hotel was accomodating of a weather situation (hurricane) that prevented us from getting there on time. They adjusted our dates without any delay. The resort is absolutely beautiful with marble covering every square inch of the rooms.

Having a kitchenette in our room allowed us to save so much money cooking breakfast each day.

We were nervous about being harrassed for the time-share presentation, but decided after they told us we'd get 50% off all our activities in Cabo that we would give it a try. We immediately booked ATV's, snokeling, horseback riding, glass bottom boats, and parasailing for two. The breakfast lasted from 8 to 8:30 and then the tour/sale lasted another hour. It wasn't really the hard sell we expected it to be and we just kept saying no and they were totally cool about it. After, we went to pay for the activities and we ended up paying $100 a piece for all of them!!!! They had everything you could want to do in Cabo for half off. Totally worth the presentation....to us.

We rented a car because we wanted to go beach hopping and exploring, but if you're just going for the resort amenities you don't need one. A ride into town is only 7 us dollars tip included.

Villa del Arco has the best beach for activies, swimming, dining, drinking, and the pool area is gorgeous and spotless.

Also note...construction is totatly done. Most other hotels on the beach had some going on. This hotel is brand-spankin new in appearance.

Highly recommend for kids of all ages wanting to enjoy Cabo in luxury!!!!!!!
