This little colonial hotel is located on a crowdless, swimmable and beautiful beach that feels almost private because of its location. The staff is great and very serviceable, the rooms are nice and spacious too. I stayed at this hotel with friends and family last December, and we nicknamed it "the humpback whale observatory" as we must have seen hundreds of them swimming really close to the shore.. Whales are present there on every minute of every day of the week during Cabo´s warm winter months ;) Need to go back to have a few of their signature frozen "mezcal" margaritas at sunset and recharge the batteries very soon! It really is that perfect!

We stayed a week in this small Spanish style suite hotel. It is located on the Tourist corridor about half way between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo so it is away from busy tourist activities. The hotel itself is rather dated and the amenities are somewhat spartan, but everything is very clean and all the basics are there but limited. e.g., dishes, kitchen equipment. The staff was friendly, responsive and welcomming.

The beach is beautiful and the waves are dramatic. We could see fish jumping. It is not a swimming beach but it is very private and long walks are possible although it is somewhat difficult to walk on the beach because it is quite steep and the sand is rather abrasive.

The hotel is right on the highway which is quite busy, but the suites are built on the cliff going down to the beach. There are lots of stairs from the lobby to the beach. You should really have a car because if you want to go anywhere you would have to wait for the bus. We enjoyed driving into San Jose del Cabo and attending the Thursday evening art walk. San Jose is a quiet, authentic town, while San Lucas is more "party hardy."

We had an awesome room with a view of the pool and ocean, but were lucky that no one had the suite next to us because we would have had to walk in front of their unit to get to ours and we would have had to share the deck in front which we used every day and for breakfast and many evening meals. The restaurant is quite good -- simple basic food with a Mexican flair and very reasonably priced. We had the beach dinner with bonfire one night to celebrate our anniversary and it was wonderful -- very good food and very memorable with the ocean waves crashing around us.

We would recommend this hotel to those who don't want to pay high prices, are okay with basic but clean amenties and want a relaxing beach vacation. There are minimal activities, no kayaks, etc., but the pool is very nice and there are hot tubs, a pool table, ping pong table and a spa. The views are truly magical.

Room Tip: If you want a good view ask for the full ocean view. We had room 12 A - and I think it is the best...

This Spanish-style hotel was so quiet and perfect for a Cabo get-away from TV & 24-hour access to the internet (the best wi-fi was in the restaurant and the lobby). Although the hotel is a little older and it isn't all-inclusive, we found everything we needed for a beautiful, relaxing trip to paradise. We had a beach-view room and left the windows open at night, sleeping to the sounds of the big waves crashing on the beach. The food was amazing and the service was very friendly (Lupe and Lilian always went especially above and beyond for us). There are over 150 steps from the lobby to the pool, so take heed if you have physical limitations. I would definitely stay there again, but probably would stay in room 22 which is closer to the beach (and has the beach view). It's small, quaint and nothing fancy, so if you're looking for new construction and fancy marble bathrooms, go to the bigger, more expensive hotels. If you want laid-back, uncrowded beaches, amazing food and easy access to Cabo and San Jose, stay at Marbella.

When entering the hotel, the first thing you notice from the lobby is the ocean view down below. As the hotel is situated at the beach at the "corridor" between San Jose los Cabos and Cabo San Lucas, it sort of descends to the beach, stairs leading down from the street to the water with the different balconies leading to the different hotel rooms.
The rooms itself are gorgeous. We had a double room with a spacious living room part and the sleeping part on a little pedestal leading to the bathroom. There was even a kitchen with a fridge and a microwave so you could prepare and store snacks and food for trips or evenings. The headboard of the bed was a huge shell carved into the wall, lovingly painted by mexican artists that also painted the shelves in the kitchen.
So instead of an impersonal standard hotel room you have a cosy but comfortable room with mexican flair.
The pool area is also really pretty, a huge sealife mural overlooking the big pool with a billiard table and a ping-pong table aside. There are even two whirlpools from which you can overlook the ocean! Contrary to other hotels there are several smaller spots with different sun loungers at the pool and the beach so you don't get that crowded feeling you tend to have in usual hotels. Not to forget there is free wireless internet even at the poolside.
To get to the two nearby towns you can easily take a bus right in front of the hotel but most of the time we had our meals in the hotel restaurant, the food is really cheap but just de-li-cious!
All the stuff was really wonderful, everybody is superfriendly in a very personal way, after a couple of days, when people know you, they just stop by to have a little chat instead of just doing their job, making sure your stay is as good as it can be.
We really enjoyed our stay at Marbella Suites and I can recommend it to everybody who wants to visit Los Cabos without staying in the typical huge hotel complexes! It's a wonderful place to spend your holidays.

With all the great reviews about this place, I was expecting a top-quality experience for my first visit to Cabo. The hotel is lushly tropical and beautiful, located on a cliffside only feet from the ocean; however, it is old and dated and has limited in-room amenities. Amenities that were promised (free Internet, free phone, water on arrival) leave much to be desired - Internet was NEVER available in our room and unreliably spotty throughout the public premises, free phone was only available in the stuffy unair-conditioned lower lobby, and much-needed water on the day of arrival was never to be found. The free water was requested but never delivered as promised. Overall, I didn't find the service to be all that outwardly friendly or helpful - just plain mediocre.

We got an awesome last-minute rate for the place as occupancy was extremely low. Room 33 had a sucky view of the emergency walkway and the pipes that dripped throughout the night anytime someone in the numerous higher floors used water. The water system was under maintenance for several hours on the first evening of our stay, providing an additional inconvenience. The additional bed in the room is really just a futon and does not come with sheets (I guess they have to be requested?) Sleep was difficult when there were occupants above us, as you could hear their footsteps and water usage. Regarding steps, there are stairs to everything and everywhere in this hotel - if you are disabled, stay clear from the Marbella - if you are fit, you will get plenty of exercise! However, don't plan on exercising in the gym - there's no air conditioning and you won't last more than five minutes in the stuffy little room they offer.

The barside pool was heavenly when there were no kids in it (Go early in the morning or in the twilight hours for a peaceful swim). The crime-scene tape and traffic cones reminding bar patrons to not fall in was a minor visual detractor. Beach towels were generally unavailable - when found keep it and re-use it for your stay.

One of the best parts of the hotel is that it is far from the noise and distraction of the busy cities of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo. However this also means that you will be spending time waiting for the bus (very convenient and very cheap - 20 pesos one way) or finding a place to park in town. The buses, while old and rundown were the best value of the trip, offering plenty of great sight-seeing of the beach, the rocky landscapes, and the other resorts along the twenty-minute trip to Cabo San Lucas.

From the airport, the hotel is accessible by bus, but the dropoff point will be very difficult to find for first-time Cabo visitors as it is one half mile from the terminal! The return trip is long (nearly one hour) but is a very inexpensive and pleasant ride when the bus is not full. NOTE: If you do not book your hotel transfer ONE DAY PRIOR to your arrival in Cabo you WILL NOT be able to use shared shuttles, leaving cabs ($55 - $90) and public bus (27 pesos) as your only options!

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel if you have difficulty navigating steps and stairways. Avoid rooms in the 30s. Vie...

Dear mr. Tuckman8:

Thank you very much to have taken the time to post your review of your recent stay with us. I am truly sorry we did not meet your expectations, guest comments are very important for us and I thank you again for allowing us to improve our service for our future guests.
Complimentary water is always offered upon arrival, I will certainly check this directly with our department heads involved to assure you that this unacceptable situation will not happen again.
I also apologize for the inconvenience caused by our scheduled maintenance to our water filters, we tried to minimize this by scheduling it from 12 am-2 am and by notifying all guests prior to it so that it wouldn't be noticed.
Our Hotel was built in the 1950's and we take pride in the fact that we are one of the last vintage hotels in the area that still retains the Old Mexican charm, which i think is one of our best and most recognizable assets.
We do offer Free Wi-Fi to all guests, available thru-out the property, from our lobby to the beach, but due to the fact that this is a concrete structure and to the layout, a small number of rooms will get a weaker signal inside, but as soon as you step out to the balcony the signal is strong. Just in case, we also offer free use of our guest computers, as well as free phone calls to the US and Canada from our phone room, which like the rest of the hotel, is an open air space.
Our One Bedroom Garden view Suites only have one bed, the futon is not an extra bed. However we can always set one up in the room upon request.
We set beach towels every morning on our sun loungers or in baskets by the pool for guests to take, but they are also available at our Pool Bar, were you only need to ask the person in there.

I really hope you will give us the opportunity to visit us again, and show you our excellence in service.

Please, do no hesitate to contact me directly if you like.
Best regards

we had a great time. Staff is always friendly and helpful. My only complain is they don't have any complimentary tooth paste and tooth brush. The oven in our room is also broken. Swimming pool is clean with a great view so that made up for everything. This place is perfect for couples who want to just spend time with each other. This hotel is very quiet unlike other typical inclusive standard places.

Stayed at the Marbella May 8 - May 13th. Had been travelling for 12 hours and when we got there we were given rooms 302 and 303. 2 - 2 bedroom garden view suites. We had no running water from the time we arrived till around 10 am the next morning. I could not have a shower, wash my hands, flush the toilet etc. We had travelled a long way and a shower was the least I wanted. They kept telling us that it would be fixed in an hour or so. At 11:30pm I called Rueben again and said it would be fixed soon. It never was till the next morning. We were traveling with 6 of us and I felt horrible to have this for my family. I went to Rueben at around 6am because I had not slept all night, because not only did we not have any water we had ants everywhere. They were crawling all over my daughter's toothbrush in her bathroom. They were all over my kitchen. They were everywhere. Needless to say I was on edge.

Long story short > don't take rooms 302 or 303
>Room 303 back bedroom bathroom, water dripped all over floor for 3 days until finally someone cared enough to do something about it. Can be seen naked in shower if someone was in room above. View from bedroom window is a hot water tank. Ceiling in bathroom is cut pieces of styrofoam pieced together.
>other rooms kids got room 40 something and 31 windows do not lock and ants as well.

ROOMS NEED HELP AND LOVE!! I paid nearly $1800.00 for 2 rooms for 5 nights. I was not given a break for the first night that none of us could have a shower or wash our hands and pee into a toilet you could not flush. That I don't understand. I never asked, you wish it could have been offered. My fault I guess, but I am not like that.

Food - breakfast and lunch menu excellent - well priced! Ate every meal there and loved them all.
Drinks - overpriced! Water $2.50 per small bottle / beer $5 / coffee $2.50 / fancy drink $8.00
Restaurant - Most beautiful view ever to eat at we had our table we sat at everyday 2 to 3 times a day...........just have to ignore the ants on table
Beach - Beautiful and Quiet. It is open to public so gets busy on weekends with the locals, hard to get a chair on Sundays. Otherwise very private and quiet.

The view is beyond words, rooms are not great and it would have been nice to be charged less and not more than I was originally quoted. Go figure. Watch crossing highway they are crazy fast drivers. Little tiny store across highway to buy smokes and booze.

Vendors in Cabo and San Jose very aggressive and mean. If you go to Mexico get to your hotel and stay put. Nothing is cheap and the people are aggressive. I won't return. I am deeply saddened to say because people like Pedro and Victor the garderner were so kind that I just wish there were more people like Pedro and Victor representing Mexico. Beautiful country, beautiful weather not the greatest feeling in the heart.

Room Tip: Garden View Room #302 and #303 terrible/ also given rooms 40 something and 31 ants and windows did n...
