My stay was one week after Hurrican Henriette, but there were no signs whatsoever of a previous storm. The weather was outstanding (not a cloud in the sky, not a drop of rain although it was close to being as humid as Florida).
I took the advice of other TA members and booked my transportation to the hotel through Transcabo (www.transcabo.com). It was $28 for one-way versus $50 for a cab. Once you arrive at the airport, the timeshare solicitations are outrageous. Even if you ask where the rental cars, taxis or Transcabo pick-ups are, you will be directed to a timeshare agent posing as tourist help desk. Pass go and proceed to the outside immediately.
The hotel was much much larger than we expected as half of it is a timeshare. The architecture is visually stunning as it is based on traditional Mexican buildings. At check-in, they had our wrong rate, but it was quickly fixed. After check-in, you will be directed to a timeshare desk. If you choose to participate, you will be offered a credit for food or spa, but it is not high pressure to do so.
I had an oceanfront room, but do know that there are pools and other things between you and the ocean. Our room was on the first floor and for the first time ever, there were earplugs provided by the hotel on our nightstand. I now know why being that the room above was very noisy and the waves crashing can be loud too. If you have the option, go for the second floor room if you get an oceanfront room.
The room and the entire resort are extremely clean. The restaurants are quite pricey are all of them in Cabo (one was closed for renovation preparing for the high season). Don't go expecting a cheap trip to Mexico. There are four pools and drink servers throughout. Although there is a drink of the day that offers 2-for-1, do know that my Pina Coladas cost $10.00 each after you add in a tax.
Angelina at the Concierge Desk rocks. She is knowledgeable and goes above and beyond in helping you (so be sure to tip her well).
Do know that Mexico charges a 10% tax on everything so be prepared to see it on anything you buy with a credit card. There is a National Rental Car desk at the hotel making it easy to get a car. Locationwise, the hotel is literally between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas so it is easy to get to either. Transportation to SJDC is around $35 and CSL is $10 per person through the shuttle service.
Although the beaches are not swimable (as aren't many in Cabo), two of the best are within 2-3 miles of the hotel (Playa Chilleno and Playa Santa Maria).
Overall, the hotel is beautiful, the service is excellent, but it was a pricey trip for us. We would definitely go back to this hotel in the future, but we might try one or two others to compare. If nothing else, Cabo is an excellent place to get away, fish, dive/snorkel and party. Viva Cabo!
