My husband and I just returned from a week at the Sheraton Hacienda and were pleasantly surprised. After reading some of the postings we wondered if we had made a mistake. But, we were very pleased with our entire stay. (We chose the Sheraton because we are Starwood Gold members and they offered a great deal!)
The front desk staff was very nice and cordial. Because of our Gold status we were ungraded to a beautiful ocen view room in building 29. Our room was pristine and very clean. One posting said that the rooms were tired. Ours was not. They can be noisey, however. We had a family with teenagers next to us who slammed the door at all hours of the day and night. Also, because the floors are tile you can hear the guests walking in the room above. Yes, the grounds are immaculate.
There have been several comments about the food. It is resort food. A little overpriced and not memorable. We have stayed at several resorts in other locations (St. John, Puerto Rico, Scottsdale and Hawaii, etc.) and it is usually the same. For breakfast we found Girasoles was considerably cheaper than the restaurant in the main building - Tomatoes, I think. Also, many of the bars have 2 for 1 drink specials at different times during the day. So, that is a bargain.
Our maid service was fine. Typically our room was cleaned after we left the room at 10 or so. There was one day when it was not cleaned so we called the fron desk and the maid came immediately.
Overall, we really enjoyed our trip to the Sheraton and would definitely go back again!!!
