The Sheraton was a nice change from some of the other resorts we stayed in the past in Mexico. We stayed at one of the Riu resorts last year, and this was considerably better.
From the time we checked in, the staff was always polite and responsive. We did get the timeshare pitch as soon as we arrived, but it really wasn't too bad. We decided to attend their presentation as we received a free breakfast and a $100 certificate to dine in one of their restaurants. Considering how overpriced everything is at the resort (not exclusive to the Sheraton), we went ahead with it. They tell you it will take about 75 minutes, but be prepared to spend about 3 - 4 hours. It was nice as we saw the rest of the resort, and got some good information out of our "timeshare tour guide" on some things to do while we were in Cabo. At the end, we just told them no and picked up our gifts. There wasn't any additional pressure after this point.
One negative was that a couple of the rooms for our party had some air conditioning issues. We had to call them twice to come fix the air in our room, and the other party had to call three times. They did eventually show up to fix the problem.
The food was pretty decent. It was overpriced, but good. If you plan to drink a lot, I would certainly recommend you do it outside of the resort. A virgin Pina Colada cost about $8. Sodas are around $4. We went to the Jungle Bar in downtown Cabo and got 2 for 1 Pina Colada's for $3.
The pools were fantastic. We were traveling with our 2 year old daughter, and she had a wonderful time in their children’s pool. The nice thing was that the children’s pool was attached to the adult pool. This way we could stay near her, and still enjoy the water as well. There were also plenty of waiters around the area if you wanted to order some drinks.
For the golfers, we did have a chance to play the resort ocean course. All I can say is that it was UNBELIEVABLE! I don't play much, but I've never seen anything like this. Hole 17 was fantastic as you hit the ball over the surf. Of course, you pay a considerable amount of money to play this course. Green fees are around $200, but it's certainly something to see. Also, the free taco's after the front nine is a nice touch. But I guess after the green fee, they can afford to give out free tacos! Also, the prices in the pro shop are in USD, not pesos. Something to remember as most of the golf shirts are in the $180 - $200 range. One of the members in our party found this out the hard way when he attempted to purchase one. After a little embarrassment, the shirt went back to the rack. The best deal is the driving range. $10 for an hour, and they provide the clubs for free. They also provide a cooler full of ice cold water.
I would certainly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Cabo. Just pack a suitcase full of food so you don't have to pay the hotel's inflated prices!
