Just returned from a week at the Hacienda Del Mar. It was more than I expected from the reviews. It is truly a beautiful resort. We had a gorgeous room that was large, spotless and the balcony with outside jacuzzi was worth every penny of what we paid. It was over 100 deg F but there was never any mention in any of the reviews I read that said the resort was hilly. In that heat, we had problems walking up and down the hills (I am sure in the winter you would hardly notice the inclines, but at >100 deg it was unbearable). So - we spent nearly all our time in our gorgeous suite utilizing the jacuzzi as our cool off pool and the large private (about 500 sq ft) balcony to tan on. We had shade and sun all day long. Truly my dream vacation. No other people to contend with fighting for lounge chairs as we had 2 of our own plus two other chairs and two tables on the balcony. Our suite had a huge bedroom with 2 queen size beds with great white duvets and a very large ensuite with a shower that would easily fit 2 people. The other bathroom had a bit smaller shower, but was great when we both wanted to get ready to go for dinner. That is the only time we ventured out of our room. We did rent a car for 2 days, but one would have been enough to stock up on a few groceries as we did eat breakfast and lunch in our room and only ate out in the evening. The restaurants had only a few other guests in them and as we discovered the last day when my husband went to take a picture of the pool area so at least I could see what it looked like as it was all downhill from our room and uphill all the way back. The pool area was very crowded so I guess that is why we didn't see anyone around the part of the resort we could manage to walk to. We went downhill for dinner and caught a golfcart ride back to our building. Was the perfect holiday for us and we even attended the time share presentation.

It was not high pressured, very fairly presented, but we declined as we have another timeshare and this was an RCI trade in.

The only thing we would do differently if we visit there again, would be to go in the winter when the temperature isn't quite as hot. The locals did say that these temperatures were unusual and a couple of days were quite humid also.

If you are planning a vacation there or at the hotel Sheraton Hacienda del Mar, I don't think you will be disappointed. The retaurant meals and drinks were a little pricey, but we enjoyed the food and time out.

No kidding, probably the most beautiful place we've ever stayed. Everything there is perfectly manicured, beautiful and amazing. The pools are fabulous. Bring floties for the kids and they'll never want to get out. The beach is beautiful to walk on, but too dangerous to go in the water. The staff is wonderful, the rooms are impecible. We had a one bedroom suite and the beds are heavenly.

The bummer - food is very expensive (cheapest thing was $17 hamburger) and drinks - yikes! We rented a car and declined the insurance (Visa international said we're covered if we charge on our visa - but if you have an accident, you have to pay the rental agency and settle with visa later). Our favorite restaurant was Lattitude 22. Great food and affordable. We also loved the Office...more pricey, but great fiesta on Thursday night and the kids thought it was the best! We bought food & drinks at Costco & a local market in town. Bought a $6.00 styrofoam cooler and brought our own drinks to the pool every day. That made it great! We loved it - it was so beautiful!

My husband and I just came back from a wonderful week at the Sheraton from 7/31-8/7/04. The hotel and staff were great. The beds are very comfortable and the room is decorated very beautifully. The food is pricey at the resort, but very good (especially the loster tacos). The beach is unswimmable but the pools are fantastic. The staff is very friendly and always trying to help to make your stay even better. We ate at The Office based on the comments we read from people on this website, the food is good. We had fun, but way to many vendors trying to sell you everything while you're eating. I recommend the 3 hr ATV tour (be prepared to get really dirty). We will definitely go back to Los Cabos.

We stayed here from July 18-23. Our deluxe room was pretty large. Vaulted ceiling (3rd floor) with a patio to sit and enjoy the view. The bed was very, very comfortable. More than enough down feathered pillows for your comort as well as a down comforter! Bathroom had two sinks and a fairly large shower to fit two people. Didn't use the jacuzzi afterall; spent most of the time poolside or in the outdoor jacuzzi enjoying the ocean view!!! TV had a few HBO channels. The maids were efficient and friendly. We were in villa 25. I suppose the villas closest to the lobby and pool would be slightly noisier?

Three large pools. Center pool with the infinity edge facing the ocean tended to be the most crowded. Each pool had a somewhat private and shallower end for the kids. Cool thing is the pools are open 24hrs!!!! Night swimming was just as great! The ocean not only sounded harsh but was nonswimmable most of the time with red flags on the beach for warning guests.

Restaurants were very, very expensive. Didn't think much of Pitahayas (international) and Girasoles (mexican). Very much enjoyed the food at De Cortez (grill/American). Great food and excellent service with gorgeous outdoor views of the ocean! Poolside food from Las Sirenas was great!!! Try the Nachos and a cheeseburger. Great snack!! The happy hour/special (2 for 1)drinks were okay. We didn't feel there was much alcohol in them. The waiters at the pool are great.

Be aware of timeshare sales. We attended a 90 min meeting for a $100 gift certificate in return. It was worth the certificate for the pricey restaurants.
Be careful as you clear customs at the airport. Tons and tons of pushy timeshare people. They'll say anything to get you to follow them for timeshare sales. They'll even tell you that they are your transportation that you booked!

Transportation into Cabo San Lucas was $20 roundtrip/2 people via the hotel shuttle which started from 9am from the hotel and 930pm back to the hotel. By taxi you are looking at $20 one way. Check out Cabo Wabo. Lively. We hired a local to take us on his boat to check out El Arco and Lover's Beach.

All in all, we'd go back to Cabo as it's an easy and inexpensive trip from Southern California. The flight is 2 1/2 hours. Perhaps we would consider an all-inclusive resort next time. If not, we would definitely stay at the Sheraton again.

We just spent a week at the Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar and agree with most of the other reviews - it is a great place to stay!! We visited some of the other resorts and it is by far the nicest we saw in either the Los Cabo or San Jose Del Cabo.

The room was great, with "heavenly beds", tub and shower in the bath and larger than most hotel rooms.

The hotel service was really exceptional. All the staff from the front desk, waiters, to maids were friendly and always eager to do whatever. Their answer for any request is "no problem." We ate in two of the restaurants and at the pool bar and the food was fine and not too expensive. We did not try the #1 restaurant as others told us it was over priced.

The surf was too rough with a red flag half the days we were there but it is the same all over the Cabos area. The pools are great, plenty of room. They have one pool for families & kids so you could pick which pool to visit. The family pool had supervised activities planned all day from water aerobics, bingo to water volleyball.

Don't stay at the hotel row area in Los Cabos unless you like spending yout time on crowded beaches with drunk kids from USA and street vendors coming up to you every few minutes. The Sheraton is in a private development with guards at the main drive so the beach is quiet and remote. If you want to sit on the beach in a chair you may be the only one there.

We did not fish while there but others were catching fish just off the beach. May have to take the fishing stuff next time.
