Just returned from a week at the Hacienda Del Mar. It was more than I expected from the reviews. It is truly a beautiful resort. We had a gorgeous room that was large, spotless and the balcony with outside jacuzzi was worth every penny of what we paid. It was over 100 deg F but there was never any mention in any of the reviews I read that said the resort was hilly. In that heat, we had problems walking up and down the hills (I am sure in the winter you would hardly notice the inclines, but at >100 deg it was unbearable). So - we spent nearly all our time in our gorgeous suite utilizing the jacuzzi as our cool off pool and the large private (about 500 sq ft) balcony to tan on. We had shade and sun all day long. Truly my dream vacation. No other people to contend with fighting for lounge chairs as we had 2 of our own plus two other chairs and two tables on the balcony. Our suite had a huge bedroom with 2 queen size beds with great white duvets and a very large ensuite with a shower that would easily fit 2 people. The other bathroom had a bit smaller shower, but was great when we both wanted to get ready to go for dinner. That is the only time we ventured out of our room. We did rent a car for 2 days, but one would have been enough to stock up on a few groceries as we did eat breakfast and lunch in our room and only ate out in the evening. The restaurants had only a few other guests in them and as we discovered the last day when my husband went to take a picture of the pool area so at least I could see what it looked like as it was all downhill from our room and uphill all the way back. The pool area was very crowded so I guess that is why we didn't see anyone around the part of the resort we could manage to walk to. We went downhill for dinner and caught a golfcart ride back to our building. Was the perfect holiday for us and we even attended the time share presentation.
It was not high pressured, very fairly presented, but we declined as we have another timeshare and this was an RCI trade in.
The only thing we would do differently if we visit there again, would be to go in the winter when the temperature isn't quite as hot. The locals did say that these temperatures were unusual and a couple of days were quite humid also.
If you are planning a vacation there or at the hotel Sheraton Hacienda del Mar, I don't think you will be disappointed. The retaurant meals and drinks were a little pricey, but we enjoyed the food and time out.
