We arrived several hours before check in, and our room was not ready upon arrival (as expected). Staff was very accommodating, and we were able to get our room in less time than anticipated. The room was clean, the staff responded quickly for requests for additional towels, coffee, etc. We stayed in the main hotel, which had a balcony overlooking the ocean. The pools were beautiful, the beach was ok (the water was a little rough). The food prices were comparable to what we normally pay, and each restaurant (we ate at em all) is clean with excellent food. We did all the donts for Mexico, aka drinks with ice they use the manufactured ice (I was not brave enough to drink out of the sink, but I dont do that at home anyway), raw fish, sliced fruits, and so on, and never even had a slight feeling of illness (I do not have a stomach of steel either). For the most part, staff was able to communicate in English. The concierge was very accommodating. Service was not considerably slow, but it was relaxed compared to the US. Checkout was a breeze and our car was waiting. There were no discrepancies on our bill.We went into town three times ($20 each way, but hey, who wants to be driving), the first time to walk around. We walked through the crooked streets, which were sometimes smelly, but found a great tobacco shop, J&J (who we later found sells to the hotel), and purchased some yummy Cubans. Our second trip to town was for a charter catamaran ride. Boring, but found the good shops, mall, etc. at the marina area. Our third trip was for a charter boat for fishing. We rented a 28 ($400 including lunch), which was perfect for two. We wanted to go out for tuna, but only did a 6 hour trip, which did not allow us enough time. We caught two 100 pound marlins (catch and releaseonly one allowed per boat, and they will accost you off the boat to pay $1000 for taxidermy). You may be able to get a boat for less by walking the marina and offering cash, but I dont know how safe those boats would be. We had an English speaking captain and a very helpful assistant, which made the trip very relaxing. Found a great sushi place, Arts and Sushi, which has another great restaurant attached to the side of it (same owners). The weather was beautiful (Oct 26-31), the hotel was very nice, and prices were the same as US for clothing, ice cream, beer, food, etc. I would definitely return to this hotel, and plan additional activities such as diving and shopping (which we did not have enough time for).

Great place to stay. Nice rooms, very clean and comfortable. Very nice pools overlooking the beach. The beach is unswimable. A great place if you want to just sit back, relax and do nothing. Dining was expensive.
Meals were $25US for breakfast, $25-35US for lunch, $45-50US for dinner without drinks per person. Service was typical for Mexico, never be in a hurry, meals took a hour to two hours, the food was great, and the service was very attentive. Travel to town was three choices; Taxi $25US, Shuttle$10US, or Bus$1.00 it was about 1KM to the bus stop.
Leave time for checking out and go over bill closely, it took 4 tries to get it correct, but there was not any hassle about it. Just know what you spent, best to keep all copies of everything you sign for which will be billed to your room. Be sure to always ask and make sure you understand the cost when signing.

This by all means is no way a 4 star hotel. Service is horible, slow and expensive. Calls are 6$ a minute, and the employees were not helpful in anyway at all. When we made our room reservation, we reserved a ocean front view with a king size bed. When we arrived to the Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar, the front desk stated that they overbooked our room and gave us a differnet room with twin double beds and a partial ocean view. They advised us to check back in a few days.
When we came back, still no room avail, and had no idea when one would be. On our second to last day in the resort my husband and I booked a massage at the spa. That morning my husband and I became violently ill, and had to cancel our service, and the spa representative INSISITED they still had to charge us because whe did not give 4 hours notice.
After several arguments and insisting on speaking to a manager, 1 hour later we resolved the dispute and were not charged 400$ for a massage that neither one of us were well enough to receive.

First the positives. The architecture and decor of this hotel is done in absolutely stunning and authentic colonial Spanish style. The pool area is also beautiful. Generally the staff is very nice and helpful.
Be warned of a few things here, though.

First, as other reviewers have mentioned, management is not paying attention and service can be weak. Our particular problem was that the air conditioning in our room did not work the first night. We asked three times to get it fixed, but we still awoke at 3am with it broken and our room at 81 degrees. We changed rooms the next day and asked for some compensation, but never got anything.

Second, everything on the property is very expensive. Beers are $4.
Basic margaritas are $7. Phone calls are the worst: $4 even if you use a calling card. The guy checking out next to me was charged $30 for a 5 minute call. To make things worse, there are no rate cards anywhere to warn you of these phone charges.

Finally, give yourself plenty of time at checkout. They are slow, especially with so many people complaining about the outrageous phone prices!

This was our second visit to the Sheraton the first thing you need to remenber this is Mexico not Las Vegas! the Sheraton is located within the exclusive gated enclave called Cabo Del Sol with many very expensive home's also one the best golf coures in Cabo you will need to rent a car to best experience the Cabo area. I always book my car well ahead of time to get the best rate the resort is about 25 miles from the airport they have four room types from garden to ocean front luxuery suites both times we have stayed in a two bed room luxuery suite that are equiped with a full kitchen 3 bathrooms very nice the restaurants at the Sheraton are very expensive but very good one more reason to rent a car we would drive into Cabo to eat dinner every night two people can have a nice dinner in town with drinks for around 25-30 dollers we never spent over 45 dollers for two people. At the Sheraton dinner for two will cost about 90 dollars. The Sheraton is about six miles from Cabo so if you don't have a car you will be spending a lot of money on taxi cabs rides. If you do rent your car you will be able to experance some of Cabo's most beautiful beaches the Sheraton is just one mile from Chileno beach and half mile from Santa Maria beach both have some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving in Cabo the beach at the Sheraton I would not recomened to swim there I watched many people lose there swim trunks at the Sheraton beach very rough surf more reasons to rent a car we would spend our mornings at Chileno beach and return to the Sheraton at 1:00 and go swimming the rest of the day at the pools are very nice three pools they have lots of lounge chairs service was a little slow but this is Mexico not Las Vegas they will always take care of you but in mexico unlike Las Vegas you must ask to be served. If you are looking for a resort to get away from the noise, lights and action of downtown Cabo then then this is your resort if you don't want to rent a car and drive then you should look at the resorts located in Cabo on Medano beach.
