This resort is absolutely beautiful. In terms of ambiance, don't hesitate to stay here -- you won't be disappointed! It feels like a much smaller resort due to its several buildings and three separate pools. The resort's "hacienda" architecture and tropical landscaping make the resort very quaint. Our ocean view room (#1317) was more like an ocean front room - which was beyond my expectations (i.e., I've stayed at some resorts where ocean view means you might see a some blue if you stand on one side of the balcony!) Also, the balcony and large bathroom make the rooms seem much larger -- almost like a suite. The beach is very beautiful, although not a swimming beach... Santa Maria (one of the best swimming/snorkeling beaches) is only 3 mins away by car (I highly recommend renting one -- it more than pays for itself and you've got freedom to go to into town for dinner if you want.) We chose to eat at the resort's 5-star Pitahayas restaurant twice. The seafood was excellent and the wine list extensive -- the view breathtaking as well. Only caution is to review the final hotel bill carefully. Extra charges appeared on ours. Also, you may want to purchase water and snack foods to keep in your room. The resort overcharges for water ($3.50 in the store and $8 from the minibar) Also, beware, the resort is unreasonable to charge $4.40 just to connect you to an outside international operator. Although they did deduct half of the charges (1 per day) when we complained. Overall, the resort exceeded my expectations in terms of ambiance. It is one of the nicest Sheraton's I've seen.
