My husband and I just returned from a 3 day stay at the Pacifica. Perhaps because of all the glowing reviews we had read, we were expecting a truly excellent hotel. We were disappointed by and large. Here's why.
The time share push is the biggest drawback. I speak fluent Spanish and told them politely that we were not interested. They did not take no for an answer and seemed to consider our refusal to even entertain the possibility, a challenge to make us change our minds. We were approached at Siempre, their dinner spot, on the way in and on the way out twice plus, the same gentleman even came over to our dinner table to engage in small talk.
When we first arrived too early for check-in around noon, we were made to wait nearly four hours for our room. Guess nobody had ever heard of a "stat clean" for guests who invariably arrive before 4 p.m. check-in time. We had the feeling that their extreme slowness in getting a room ready was only due to our refusal to do the time-share talk. A two hour wait would have been more reasonable. Some of the staff we found almost haughty but most were very kind and attentive.
The hotel is lovely, no doubt about it- simple and spare with beautiful landscaping. It bills itself as a quiet place to relax, but we both found the nearly constant "ethereal" and to us, funereal-sounding music drifting about to be maddening. We could not even sit out on our balcony to read in peace at 6:30 a.m. without the high-pitched, long-droning notes of their music assaulting our ears. One morning at breakfast the music was so mournful, I felt like I was attending a wake and the waiters were glum and sad-faced! Music has a huge effect on one's mood. Whatever happened to just plain silence...? The surf is the perfect sound to melt your cares away and cannot be improved upon.
Now to their food. Siempre is overpriced and nearly tasteless. Breakfast is a joke compared to their sister hotel next door, The Sunset. You can enjoy a terrific, generous breakfast there and I recommend you do so rather than frittering away your money at Siempre. Dinners were expensive and very mediocre. The food by the pool was not only better, but also more reasonably priced as well.
I would not visit this hotel again. The beach is lovely, but then, nearly all of the beaches in Cabo are. I will instead patronize hotels that leave the hard-sell on time shares out of it and who see to it that their guests have the relaxation they deserve.

We booked a trip to the Pacifica based on the reviews we read on trip advisor and an amazing on line price. We were not dissapointed. We found the service to be amazing from the moment we arrived.
We were a bit nervous about being harassed into the time share breakfast, but it was no big deal. We declined to go and they were very kind and did not harass us or try and push us into going at all.
The first room they checked us into was a ground floor room. I called the front desk and inquired about a room on a higher floor as we wanted a better ocean view. They sent someone right down to help us move and we were in our new room with a gorgeous view in no time at all.
We found the food at the pacifica to be wonderful. We ate lunch everyday at the pool and had the best quesadillas! We had dinner at Siempre two nights and it was fabulous both times. While it is not cheap we did not find it to be overpriced. We did make a reservation for Edith's downtown one night based on reviews we read on line and we were very dissapointed. The resturant was incredibly touristy and the food was very overpriced for the quality. We also ate at Frida's at sunset beach, the sister resort up the hill. Again, we were dissapointed. The view was gorgeous, but we did not think the food was anything special and the bill came to over $200.
The beach was amazing. It was so quiet and peacful - there are no nearby resorts so you have the beach all to yourself. The beach service was also amazing. Gabriella was always checking on us, making sure we did not need anything and made sure we always a fresh drink in hand!
We are looking forward to returning to the Pacifica and I am sure for the price you could not find a better resort in all of los cabos.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Pacifica last March and were blown away by the service, beauty, serenity, and class of this hotel. From the minute we arrived the staff was extremely efficient. We were never harrassed by the timeshare folks and the lavender smell upon entering the resort is tranquil. From the pool staff, to the concierge, to Lupita (our housekeeper) there was not a stone unturned or a request not seen completed. The restaurant, Siempre, was great both times we were there! Nice people and good service. The pool bar has great food, and the staff is very attentive! Try the drink, the "Dirty Monkey". The beaches and pool are perfect. There was never a day where you couldn't get a chair at the pool, and the beach is perfect for a relaxing walk. Definitely try the Creme' Brule brownies from the Deli, as they are amazing! We have stayed at 5 star resorts like the St. Regis, Monarch Beach to the Mandarin Oriental and this resort stands right along side them. The grounds are so clean and gorgeous and the people so nice that we are going back this coming May! Can't wait...

Ask for a high room, as the sunset views are incredible...Also, we both got massages and they were both very good. We truly have nothing bad to say about this resort...(Where else do you get the attention, cleanliness, relaxation (no fighting for chairs!) in Cabo. It is by far, the best resort in Cabo. Right up there if not better than One and Only and Las Ventanas. The resort has an incredible drive down to the property and it is only 10 minutes from town. We loved the Pacifica ~

I really, really enjoyed my stay at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica. I love to travel and have been to many five star hotels, and I definitly put Pueblo Bonito with the best of them.

The facility is absolutely beautiful, and tranquility will encompass you the moment you arrive. I will give breakdown of my opinions:

Service: Great. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Everyday when I returned to my room the staff had transformed the sheets and towels into some elaborate decoration. The first day it was a duck, the second day a doll. There is a turn down service every evening which was nice as well. I really felt that they catered very well to all of my needs. Before coming to Pueblo Bonito, I was a bit concerned about the "Timeshare" pressure from the staff, but this was not really an issue. When we first arrived we were mildly hassled to go to the presentation, we declined at first but after staying for two days we decided to check out the presentation because we were actually interested in buying a place. Overall excellent service.

Food: The food at Siempre was in my opinion excellent. I dine out frequently at top restaurants in Washington, D.C., New York, Madrid and Paris, and I really appreciated the consistency of the food. There was a wide range of choices, and I felt that the food quality was on par with that of most NYC's top rated restaurants. I didn't make it to Frida, but ventured out to Mariscos Matazlan which was a hole in the wall, but very 'authentic" and the lobster dish was incredible. I would be wary of the restuarants they recommend, because we were sent to one where I had a disapointing experience, and as I said before, most restaurants in town are not extravagant.

Room: The room was well apointed. We stayed in suite which had a nice sitting area. There was high speed (or Mexico's version of high speed) internet in the room, all you needed was a laptop and they provide the plug. I believe all rooms are Oceanfront views which is nice too.

Pools and Beach: The pools were great, there were two pools on the property although you had the choice of using any of Sunset Beach pools which I didn't do. There is apparently a Sky Pool which is 40 stories above the ocean. One of the pools is always heated and the other one is not but both were great to either swim laps in or just relax. I was concerned about not being able to swim in the ocean, but this wasn't a serious issue. They do permit you to walk on the beach, which is really nice because its private and you can walk for quite awhile. They also have beds which you can rent on the beach for lunch or dinner which looked awesome.

Other things that I thought were really cool, was that there were no kids allowed. I was concerned that it would be cold went I went, ( first week of January), I found it to be cool ( sweater weather) at night, but during the day it was warm and temperature was no issue.

I really loved my stay at Pueblo Bonito and it was one of the most if not the most relaxing vacations I have ever been on. If you are looking for a party, this place isn't for you, but its perfect for romantic get aways, girlfriend vacations, and couples. I loved it and will be back for sure!

Just returned from Pueblo Bonito Pacifica in Cabo after a five day visit. I wanted to share a somewhat different point of view vs. other nearly perfect scores submitted by others. I think it is a very fine resort. Here are my thoughts pro and con.

Pros: Great location, secluded, beautiful beach (not good for swimming--strong undertow), quiet, relaxing, above average service, no kids, comfortable well appointed zen like rooms, ok spa/fitness center, nice grounds, well maintained facility. The water is drinkable on site and I experienced no ill effects from drinking from the tap. The internet service is FREE in the rooms but somewhat slow...but I didn't expect it to work as well as it did and be so easy to use. Not a hitch during the entire visit. FABULOUS whale watching right from the beach...no need to go on one of those expensive boat tours..seeing lots of whales from the shoreline every day with a margarita in hand was worth the entire trip.

Cons: Mediocre food--all around--regardless of price-- (both here and at neighboring Sunset Beach sister resort), overall service is 4 STAR (it's good) but NOT 5 STAR as rated, shuttle between two hotels consistently late and staff doesn't care, fitness center is small and adequate but lacking for a resort that touts its health-holistic focus (fitness center much better but more expensive to use at Sunset next door), spa services are uneven-some excellent others weak and expensive for second rate quality...

Biggest Negative: the time-share push is so strong (to see the Sunset Beach resort properties for sale), you can't complete check-in at Pacifica and see your room before you MUST see the time-share "hospitality" ladies...(very annoying). Men get shafted on "perks" from time-share visit, especially if you are single..even if you are traveling with your female significant other. They are very clear that women traveling with other women are their best buyers....

Overall it is a very nice resort and I would return but my expectations are now lower than they were after reading so many glowing 5.0 rated reviews before I booked. Maybe I am pickier than most but when I read "Five STAR and 5.0 out of 5.0" I expect Four Seasons level of service and accommodations/amenities...

Definitely a good place for couples and folks looking for quiet times as well as being a great place for people who like long runs along the beach with NO OTHERS in sight....

The Cafe is one's best bet for breakfast and lunch...decent reasonable food well run by Victor...smart young guy...The Bistro at the Sunset is noisy but has the best value food between the two resorts. Honestly, I couldn't tell the difference in quality between the cheap(er) Bistro and the other high end restaurants which charge twice as much for similar meals...just fancier menus and table settings.

Norma in the spa gives a great facial for guys...I was truly amazed by the results (and I am not a facial kind of guy)...but her cranial/neck massage was greatly disappointing for $122 vs. the $44 one I get back home in LA for the same time period.
