First I want to thank all the reviewers and their candid feedbacks. Hence, I felt the need to put in my 2 cents.

First, I agree with all the responses about the atmosphere of this hotel. It was awsome. We stayed at the Pacifica 12/21-12/26. This trip was a Christmas Gift / Anniversary for my wife and I. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and relaxed. I got the BEST massage ever at the Pacifica.

Well, lets get to the details:

FOOD:
Let me begin by stating that I just got over the food-borne illness since I returned from Cabo. I have no clue as to where I got it or how, so it is unfair to blame any of these resturants that I dined at. I would suggest that you bring some Purell !!!

Margaritaville: The view and atmosphere was awesome. Its a large restaurant with a great view of the Marina. Now, the food was possibly the WORST that I had at Cabo. Everything was bland bland bland. Dinner for 2 was about $100.

Quesdilla: Across from the famous El Squid Roe. We had lunch there. The best Salsa I had at Cabo. Nothing fancy, just good reasonable food. Lunch for 2 cost about $50.

Siempre: The main restaurant at the Pacifica. Very nice atmosphere, definitely casual but elegant. Service was excellent and so was the food. Dinner for 2, $150.

La Frida: The main restaurant at the sister resort nearby, Sunset. The food was just as wonderful and as expensive as the Pacifica. Great view, definitely sit outside. BIG BIG NEGATIVE is the constant gas powered golf carts that seemed to go round and round in a maze. The fume from the exhaust and the noise were terrible! Please Ernesto, invest in electric carts! Dinner for 2, $145.

El Squid Roe: We went there for lunch. It was relatively inexpensive. And the food was surprisingly good. $60 for the 2 of us.

Aire Bar: By the pools at the Pacifica, very good and reasonable. Definitely try the Tuna Salad and the Shrimp Tempura Tacos!!!! Yummmmm!!!!!

Room Service: Excellent. Great service, punctual, awesome breakfast, loved their omelets. $25 for breakfast.

La Casa Country: We tried to book Ediths, but was told that they were booked for a week. The hotel suggested this restaurant and we were plesantly surprised. Very good service and food. The staff paid particular attention to each table. They invited us to dance to celebrate our anniversary while cheering us on. It was a little frightening, but definitely made my better half happy.
Dinner for 2, $85.

Miguel Locos: Meet the owner, it was Christmas eve and he was short handed. Food was still very good. Great Salsa. Dinner for 2, $85.

TRANSPORTATION:
I cancelled my rental the last minute. Here are my reasons. I am on vacation, the last thing I needed was worrying about getting lost, car accident, finding fuel. I was very happy with my decision. The road to the Pacifica was very steep and serpentine shaped. Plus, I did not see many places to park in Cabos. And taxi was only $10 each way into town/marina. I was charged $12 once. Also, do not bother with the shuttle. It was a joke. NOT worth it. 2 separate stop and you also need a velcher, no way. Take the Taxi, you'll be glad you did. Plus the different insurance that you have to buy would've cost me more than my taxi bills. You can always book a rental for a day at the Pacifica, there is a AVIS desk in the hotel.

HOTEL:
Very nice, quiet, peaceful and clean. Maid service twice a day. They missed turn down only once. No big deal. We always had freash towels. The king sized bed was very comfortable. And we never heard anything through the walls (except for the heels from us stairs). We never saw more than 3 other couples in the hallways, nor did we see more than 10 people on the beach. It was GREAT!!!! No kids, no screaming kids!!!! The pool was crowded on Christmas day, but we still managed to find 2 spots for out selves. I only have 3 minor complaints. They should have a flat screen TV and used higher grade tissue/toilet paper (both were razor thin) and do something with floor noise reduction. I can hear every step she took upstairs. I've stayed at 4-5 star hotels in U.S., Hong Kong and Macau. The Pacifica stands head to head with all of them.

TIME SHARE:
Thanks to this site, we were prepared for the lecture. It wasn't bad at all. It lasted 3 hours and we took numerous pictures along the way. We are both professional students. After I told them that we are "poor" the sales pitch disappeared. Here is a hint, when they ask you for your salary, state anyting below $65,000. That was their cut off line. My presenter actually switched us off to his supposed wife, whom was very nice and not pushy at all. I think he figured out we couldn't afford the time shares. Actually, the rooms were pretty nice and I think it was about $11,000 for the studio (one week per year). 3 hours, we got $200 gift certificates for the restaurants and a $100 Spa GC for $50. Not bad at all.

NOTES:
We were told by the staff that they are building a Ritz Carlton next door and 2 new golf courses. I am afraid this atmosphere will not be the same the next time I visit this gem. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends and family.

Reading reviews helped me decide to book the Pacifica so I thought I'd return the favor. If you are looking to RELAX somewhere WITHOUT kids or raucous vacationers at the swim up bar, this is the place. The attention to detail in the design of this place is simply stunning. I especially liked reading on the patio at dusk where the recessed lighting was placed at lap level. There are even reading lights built into the head board of the bed.

Pro's: The property itself. The security and the service are top-notch. The rooms all have ocean views and the front desk did not hesitate to give us a better one upon asking. Lunch at the pool is fairly priced for the hefty, delicious portions. The spa was quaint and services excellent. The 2 pools have different vibes and I liked being able to choose. The lounge chairs in the water were heavenly.

Con's: The timeshare pitch. When my husband and I cancelled and tried to get our $20 "deposit" back were told we would have to take the shuttle up to the Sunset the next day for our money. It's personal choice, it you've got a few hours to kill for $200, do it. You can't get time back so we didn't.

The shuttle service is ridiculous. They take you up the hill where you have to stand in line for a ticket to board another bus. This bus takes you downtown where you get off and have to walk 4 blocks to downtown down a dirt road. If you need to go to town, take a cab. If you can't afford $20 for a RT, you shouldn't be staying here! There is NOTHING to see or shop for downtown.

The "invaders" at poolside. We were told that if you book at a Pueblo Bonito you are welcomed at any of there 5 properties. Soooo, all these people from the (cheaper) Sunset up the hill came down to the pool everyday. I don't mean to sound snobbish but I think they should limit the number of others they let in each day. The folks that came down clearly didn't know the Pacifica is meant to be a quiet "holistic retreat" and the beds on the beach weren't free for thier taking.

Word of warning...if you drink premium tequila in your margaritas be prepared to spend $14 to $16 each depending on your choice. Siempre for dinner was way overpriced and menu limited. It's another story for breakfast. Excellent. The little Cafe makes a good cappuccino and great muffins for a light breakfast even though the a.m. staff there should learn to smile. The tapas at the Wine Bar were also good.

Lastly, plan a trip to The One & Only Palmilla for dinner at Charlie Trotter's "C" restaurant. Even if you're not from Chicago like me, it's an amazing experience. Taxi will run you $40 each way but it's is well worth it.

Enjoy!

We stayed at the Pacifica during the last week including New Years eve and loved every minute of it! Thanks to all the postings on TripAdvisor we knew exactly what to expect.

This is an amazing place for a couple to go to get away. The grounds are beautiful, the beach is quiet and uncrowded and the service is amazing. We chose not to go into town but to eat at the resort most nights. The key to not spending too much money is to eat out by the pool. The fish tacos were great! We also got breakfast at the little deli instead of eating at the main restaurant.

We also loved the "Miami Vice" - a drink that is half pina colada and half strawberry daquiri. Yumm!

I have stayed at many 5 star resorts including the ritz in Maui, and this was on par. If you can deal with a few soft sales pitches to tour the time shares (which I did and was well worth it for all the free coupons and activities like massages you get for going, plus the timeshares are breathtaking), this place is great. It is 5 minutes from downtown so you need a rental car, but if you are looking for the most beautiful place at a reasonable place in Cabo go here, it is a loss leader for their time shares so you are getting it for basically below cost. The place looks nothing like a time share - to give you an idea, i found out that it cost them several million us dollars to just put in the roadway to the resort paying mexican day laborers - you do the math. stay here and you will love it. one word of caution - if you like to swim in the ocean in front of your hotel as your main activity do not stay here since it faces the rough pacific ocean. they have a beautiful beach but it can be windy. i prefer to be at the pool overlooking the ocean so it was perfect for me. (every hotel room views the ocean). If you go ask the concierge for help booking acitivities - there are some great ones from ATV in the desert and beach to the best which was the party sailboat cruise we took - free drinks and cruising the sunset on a an awesome sail boat with dance music - it was really fun.

  • Liked — brand new and beautiful
  • Disliked — windy spot of pacific ocean so beach can be chilly
  • Tips/Secrets: — if you are a pool person, like luxury, and dont mind driving to town, stay here and look at the ocean at your feet

After reading through all of the reviews on this site, I canceled our reservations at the Westin and booked 4 nights at the Pacifica. I was glad I made this decision since Westin is much further out and away from town than Pacifica. This was our first trip to Mexico. There are tons of people waiting to "greet" you at the airport but we didn't have any problem as we walked right by without stopping.

I was pleasantly surprised to see so much security from the minute you enter the Pueblo campus. From the minute you walk in, you're instantly relaxed by the lavendar smell and the zen like setting. The staff was very friendly and always willing to help. I knew all about the "welcome package" aka timeshare presentation from reading the comments on the site. We received 2 free drink coupons each upon arrival as part of our welcome package. We decided to go for it since they give you $200 in food/beverage credit, discounted tours, and a $50 spa credit. It took us less than 90 minutes from the time we entered so it was well worth it. Once you tell them you don't have any intentions of purchasing, it goes by fast! Since we were celebrating our 6th anniversary, a nicely decorated plate of chocolates awaited us in our room.

We had lunch at the sky pool over at Sunset beach and it was very reasonable and the views were awsome! We ate dinner at La Nao at the Sunset and once again food was very good. They serve Mexican coffee tableside - some of the best coffe I've ever had! The Bistro over at Sunset was so-so. We did a couple's message at the Pacifica spa and it was excellent!

We did rent a car since we always like to explore. Although the hotel seems very secluded it wasn't too far from town. We usually went to the Marina or downtown in the evenings. Dinner at The Office was a great experience! Don't miss the glass bottom tours to the arch and lover's beach. We ate lunch at Margaritaville which was overpriced ($70 for 2 people and 2 drinks) and the food was not good. El Squid Row is a fun place to grab a drink after dinner. We also went on a sunset cruise and a 2.5 hour ATV tour which was a blast! Overall it was the best vacation we've taken thus far.

Bottom line, don't stay at the Pacifica if you're looking for a lot of action, people watching, etc. (Medano beach is the place for you) but if you want to be away from the action and go to the action when/if you want, this is definately the place! If we return to Cabo, we would definately stay at the Pacifica once again.
