First I want to thank all the reviewers and their candid feedbacks. Hence, I felt the need to put in my 2 cents.
First, I agree with all the responses about the atmosphere of this hotel. It was awsome. We stayed at the Pacifica 12/21-12/26. This trip was a Christmas Gift / Anniversary for my wife and I. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and relaxed. I got the BEST massage ever at the Pacifica.
Well, lets get to the details:
FOOD:
Let me begin by stating that I just got over the food-borne illness since I returned from Cabo. I have no clue as to where I got it or how, so it is unfair to blame any of these resturants that I dined at. I would suggest that you bring some Purell !!!
Margaritaville: The view and atmosphere was awesome. Its a large restaurant with a great view of the Marina. Now, the food was possibly the WORST that I had at Cabo. Everything was bland bland bland. Dinner for 2 was about $100.
Quesdilla: Across from the famous El Squid Roe. We had lunch there. The best Salsa I had at Cabo. Nothing fancy, just good reasonable food. Lunch for 2 cost about $50.
Siempre: The main restaurant at the Pacifica. Very nice atmosphere, definitely casual but elegant. Service was excellent and so was the food. Dinner for 2, $150.
La Frida: The main restaurant at the sister resort nearby, Sunset. The food was just as wonderful and as expensive as the Pacifica. Great view, definitely sit outside. BIG BIG NEGATIVE is the constant gas powered golf carts that seemed to go round and round in a maze. The fume from the exhaust and the noise were terrible! Please Ernesto, invest in electric carts! Dinner for 2, $145.
El Squid Roe: We went there for lunch. It was relatively inexpensive. And the food was surprisingly good. $60 for the 2 of us.
Aire Bar: By the pools at the Pacifica, very good and reasonable. Definitely try the Tuna Salad and the Shrimp Tempura Tacos!!!! Yummmmm!!!!!
Room Service: Excellent. Great service, punctual, awesome breakfast, loved their omelets. $25 for breakfast.
La Casa Country: We tried to book Ediths, but was told that they were booked for a week. The hotel suggested this restaurant and we were plesantly surprised. Very good service and food. The staff paid particular attention to each table. They invited us to dance to celebrate our anniversary while cheering us on. It was a little frightening, but definitely made my better half happy.
Dinner for 2, $85.
Miguel Locos: Meet the owner, it was Christmas eve and he was short handed. Food was still very good. Great Salsa. Dinner for 2, $85.
TRANSPORTATION:
I cancelled my rental the last minute. Here are my reasons. I am on vacation, the last thing I needed was worrying about getting lost, car accident, finding fuel. I was very happy with my decision. The road to the Pacifica was very steep and serpentine shaped. Plus, I did not see many places to park in Cabos. And taxi was only $10 each way into town/marina. I was charged $12 once. Also, do not bother with the shuttle. It was a joke. NOT worth it. 2 separate stop and you also need a velcher, no way. Take the Taxi, you'll be glad you did. Plus the different insurance that you have to buy would've cost me more than my taxi bills. You can always book a rental for a day at the Pacifica, there is a AVIS desk in the hotel.
HOTEL:
Very nice, quiet, peaceful and clean. Maid service twice a day. They missed turn down only once. No big deal. We always had freash towels. The king sized bed was very comfortable. And we never heard anything through the walls (except for the heels from us stairs). We never saw more than 3 other couples in the hallways, nor did we see more than 10 people on the beach. It was GREAT!!!! No kids, no screaming kids!!!! The pool was crowded on Christmas day, but we still managed to find 2 spots for out selves. I only have 3 minor complaints. They should have a flat screen TV and used higher grade tissue/toilet paper (both were razor thin) and do something with floor noise reduction. I can hear every step she took upstairs. I've stayed at 4-5 star hotels in U.S., Hong Kong and Macau. The Pacifica stands head to head with all of them.
TIME SHARE:
Thanks to this site, we were prepared for the lecture. It wasn't bad at all. It lasted 3 hours and we took numerous pictures along the way. We are both professional students. After I told them that we are "poor" the sales pitch disappeared. Here is a hint, when they ask you for your salary, state anyting below $65,000. That was their cut off line. My presenter actually switched us off to his supposed wife, whom was very nice and not pushy at all. I think he figured out we couldn't afford the time shares. Actually, the rooms were pretty nice and I think it was about $11,000 for the studio (one week per year). 3 hours, we got $200 gift certificates for the restaurants and a $100 Spa GC for $50. Not bad at all.
NOTES:
We were told by the staff that they are building a Ritz Carlton next door and 2 new golf courses. I am afraid this atmosphere will not be the same the next time I visit this gem. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends and family.
