My husband and I stayed here the week after Thanksgiving and got a great deal through the Internet. From reading reviews here, we called ahead to reserve a shuttle from the airport and it was $34/person roundtrip, approximately 50 minutes each way. Cape Travel was the shuttle service provider and very easy to deal with.
The grounds were beautiful and very peaceful. The pools were gorgeous and water temp. was perfect. Although it was windy a few days, it provided some relief from the heat. The lunch menu at the pool area was very good and prices were reasonable. Try a Miami Vice drink. We went to Siempre 1 night and was a little disappointed because the food was of high quality but not impressed with the menu. For the price, you're better off spending your $ at La frieda up at the Sunset location. We also had the Mexican buffet at La Noa (at Sunset) and it was wonderful, also there is a 10% discount eating at a sister resort. We went into town a few times to eat and there are some great places too, like Mi Casa, Ediths and The Office.
The shuttle service to Sunset, then on to Rose was very convenient and easy to utilize, about 20 minutes from Pacifica to Rose. We loved the fact that we were staying away from the hustle & bustle of town, yet could get there so easily and be at the Rose where all the action is.
The beach is not suitable for swimming, which is a bummer, but we walked on the beach every day and it was beautiful. I got a massage at the Spa which was very nice, but I do get a lot of massages, and it wasn't the best I've had. We also played tennis there first thing in the morning a couple times, which was fun.
Overall, if you are looking to have a quiet, romantic vacation, this resort is the place for you. The service is excellent and we didn't have any problems with our stay.

I got a great deal at the Pacifica on Expedia, and I generally enjoyed my stay - though if my room rate had been the regular rack rate, I think I would have been a little disappointed.
The place is extremely isolated - which is nice in many ways, but means you can be very limited, especially in terms of food. I found the food to be fine, but sometimes very overpriced - especially dinner at Siempre ($30+ entrees that were not great and a weird menu that I got tired of quickly). If I were to do it again, I would probably rent a car - cabs to and from the airport cost me over $150 total (it's over an hour each way), and it would have been great to be able to try other restaurants or go to store for water, sunscreen etc ($8 a bottle for Evian at the pool).
The grounds are very nice - pools were wonderful and never too crowded. It was really disappointing that the gym was hidden away in a small room without windows - such a waste when the weather and scenery are so perfect - why would they do that? Also it should be noted that they heavily discourage walking on the beach - a couple times I was followed and hassled until I came back in. I tried to make it clear that I understand how dangerous the ocean is there, that I just wanted to walk - but they just wouldn't leave me along - very frustrating not to be able to enjoy that gorgeous, pristine beach.
The spa, while small and oddly very, very dark, was great - I had the best massage of my life there - 80min Sport Massage with Rosa. At $180, it should have been amazing, and it was.
The rooms were ok - nothing bad to report, but nothing wonderful either - the quality of bedding and pillows could be better and there is indeed a strong mildew smell, as someone else reported. The views are spectacular though.
The service was generally very good - always friendly and usually quite efficient - especially at breakfast, I thought.
So there were great things and some mediocre things - if I got another great deal, I would go back - otherwise I probably wouldn't. But I certainly dont regret my visit.

  • Liked — The pools
  • Disliked — The dinner options (lack of)
  • Tips/Secrets: — Do NOT drink wine at the wine bar - tastes like it as been open for months. DO eat the tuna sashimi at the wine bar - wonderful!

I spent a lot of time researching which hotel to stay at in Cabo and settled on Pacifica because of the great reviews...and all of them were true. My husband and I had a fantastic time at the resort. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The pools were beautiful and quiet! The restaurant Siempre was excellent and we spent the other nights going into town for dinner (Mi Casa, The Office, The Sand Bar - all were outstanding). I highly suggest taking a cab ($10), because the shuttel from Sunset takes forever). Many nights we enjoyed the sunset outside with a glass of wine in our hands aournd the fire pit. The service is wonderful and everyone is very friendly- staff and co-vacationers. This is one of our all-time favorite hotels and we plan on going back next year. Go to the time share breakfast because you get so many free things ($200 in credit, 1/2 off spa, 1/2 off of activities) - you might even be tempted to buy one!!!!!

Stayed at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica from Nov. 12 - 19, 2006

For a RELAXING & SERENE vacation this resort is fabulous. I have many things I loved and a few things I disliked in regards to this resort. I will list them as simply as possible.

LOVE:

Pool - no kids, not crowded, lots of lounge chairs

Service - Excellent!!!

Maintenance & Grounds - Beyond perfection

Personnel - Best and friendliest I have ever encountered

Food - at pool is delicious, pleasing to the eye and reasonably priced

Shuttle - Free shuttle to Bonito Pueblo Sunset and then to Cabo

Concierge - unbelievable!! Pleasant and will go beyond expectations to make every aspect of vacation wonderful

DISLIKE:

Lighting in room and bathroom is poor. Difficult to apply makeup in the bathroom. I took the provided make up mirror out on the porch in order to have adequate light to apply make up.

Water pressure in bathroom very poor - took me (literally) 30-45 minutes to bath and wash/rinse my hair

Rooms are small

No way to have drinks in room and keep them cold (I purchased a styrofoam cooler in town and iced down water and soda)

EVERYTHING is an additional cost and expensive.

We were charged on two separate occassions for drinks for the servi frig. We NEVER opened the frig. We "discussed" this with the front desk and ultimately we asked that all drinks, coffee, water, etc. be removed from our room so that we would not be falsely accused of using them.

Overall the resort is very exclusive and gorgeous. For total relaxation, it is perfect. It is on the pricey side, but worth it as long as you are aware of this and plan for it.

  • Liked — Pool, personnel, maintenance, grounds
  • Disliked — small room, lighting in room, water pressure in shower
  • Tips/Secrets: — get a cooler for room, keep track of your bill under "folio" on the tv, open the sliding door once a day and let the air blow through to eliminate musty smell of air conditioning

We read the reviews of the Pacifica and had to see what all the fuss was about. We could not have been happier with our choice. The Pacifica is an amazing property with a wonderful staff. All of the rooms have a balcony that overlook the Pacific Ocean, we spent hours on ours watching whales and sea lions as they cruised the coast.

We relaxed, and I mean 'relaxed' by the pool as there are no kids the pool is very peaceful. We rented one of the beds on the beach, not cheap at $20.00 an hour but worth every dime for me as I love laying in bed and was able to do so on the most amazing beach. The staff is protective of their guests and they will chase you away from the crashing surf as it is extremely dangerous to swim in the Pacific Ocean there.

The food was very good but if you want a great meal eat at La Frida just up the hill at Sunset Beach. Sunset Beach is also beautiful we spent a day pool hopping the 5 pools there and we got 10% off our cocktails because we were from the Pacifica.

We are already booked to return in February.

  • Liked — the staff, followed closely by the physical property and then the setting
  • Disliked — the internet connection in the cafe was fairly slow
