We just stayed 4 nights at the Pacifica. The resort itself is beautiful and the service from the staff there was excellent, some of the best we've experienced. The resort is close to Cabo San Lucas ($10 cab ride), and very far from San Jose. We didn't find Cabo San Lucas to be all that noteworthy so we stayed primarily at the resort, which is easy to do since it's very secluded from anything else. The design of the resort is very clean and minimal and very nicely executed. Definitely request a room on the 4th or 5th floor so that you will have the good views. The room itself won't blow you away, but you won't be disappointed with it at all - though it could have been a little bit bigger.
They did a heck of a job training all the staff there because we thought they were exceptional. They were always there when you needed something, were extremely polite, and never intrusive. We would rate the service a definite 5 out of 5, hands down, from the time we got there to when we left.
The food was excellent for a resort property. The restaurant Siempre was a nice surprise, not expensive at all, and the service and decor was first rate. We also thought the food at the pool was fantastic. Again, the food at the resort and drinks were very reasonable, and definitely worth it. We are very picky eaters and thoroughly enjoyed every meal at the resort. Go to Mi Casa one night and get Mexican food if you want, it's worth the cab ride into town.
We got messages two days that we were there and we really enjoyed the spa there. The message rooms are well designed, and the therapists were really quite good. Request one of the treatment rooms with a window that is under the falling water outside - it's a nice bonus. The spa itself was run very well and kept extremely clean. Hit the gym and it was very functional for a quick workout. You really have to get a message if you stay here. Make sure you book your messages a couple of weeks in advance, just in case they fill up.
Like other people have said, this is a very low-key resort. Not having kids at the pool or at meals was one of the reasons why we chose this resort. It is really very quiet and there is not much to do other than eat, hang out at the pool, go the spa, or walk on the beach. There was never anybody in the hotel bars and very few people at the restaurant.
The negatives are very minor but I should mention them. We didn't feel pressured to do the time share tour and we didn't - really not a big deal. When you check in, they give you a welcome package with all these coupons, which we thought was a bit tacky. And the low prices of the resort lends itself to a different clientele that you would experience at a Four Seasons or a Ritz Carlton. Other than that, the resort was run exceptionally well and is an amazing property.
Overall, we really liked and enjoyed the resort and would recommend it highly. The resort itself is beautiful and is great for a spa weekend where you don't want to do much of anything else but eat and relax.
