If you are going to Cabo for the "party like a rock star" spring break experience, this is NOT the hotel for you. But if you are going to Cabo to relax, forget about the stresses of home, life, and everything in general, you will definitely find your peace here.

My husband and I went to Cabo for a quick 3-day getaway to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary. As soon as we walked in to the hotel lobby we knew we would have the weekend we imagined. We immediately slowed our stepped, took our time, and forgot the stresses of the outside world.

On our second day we went to El Medano Beach. We spent half the day there and unfortunately we were wishing we had just stayed at the hotel. The vendors, the hustlers, the loud noise, loud music, and wet t-shirt contests were not what we were looking for. The two restaurants we went to were horrible - La Golondrina and I can't remember the name of the on the beach cantina (which allowed the street vendors to pester you at the table).

The beach at the Pacifica is isolated and all yours. Sure you can't swim in the ocean, but you have two wonderful pools that have next to nobody in them and you can hang out, listen to the ocean, and get drinks and food delivered to you all day long.

Plus, the hotel has next to the fewest number of rooms of any resort in Cabo and thereby it is hardly crowded. It is naturally quite and you are not dealing with the general stress that is associated with large crowds and the masses.

What would I have changed? Perhaps the music - monks singing Duran Duran - a little weird. I may have liked a little bigger of a room, but we only used it to sleep in, so that is kind of petty of me. I think I am just looking for things now!

Anyhoo - if you want to relax, not think, and have someone else do almost everything for you, the Pacifica should be a contender in your decision process. I would highly recommend it.

I can't complain too much about what we paid to stay there because we went on a promotional price, but we did find that everything else there was rediculously expensive. Most of the staff was pleasant; it was almost unnerving to have them open the doors for us wherever we went. (The pool concierge (Christian) was wonderful.) They were at about 30% occupancy, so there were plenty of employees to go around. As for the location, it is away from the hustle (and I mean HUSTLE!) and bustle of the downtown area, but it is a bit disappointing because of the almost constant high winds and lack of ability to even put your toes in the water. On our last day while packing, I discovered that I was missing a bra and an expensive make-up brush. I spoke to the desk about it - they suggested that I had thrown them away. Right! We did always lock up our valuables, but I was not aware that I should lock up my underwear and cosmetics. Kind of put a damper on our trip. I was out about $60 between the two items. I have repeatedly asked for a resolution but have not received any responses.

You need to understand you are not staying in the hustle and chaos of Cabo. No, you are seeking out an adults only (16+), NON smoking, relaxing place to stay. With beautiful pools, a swim up bar, and manicured grounds.

No you shouldn't swim in the ocean here, riptides are common and the sea is quite rough. I'm from southern California and an experienced ocean swimmer. I would have survived out there but would have been alone so its not worth it. Besides you have 2 pools and a hot tub to use.

The food is priced high for Cabo but on par for the US and it was tasty we had room service twice. When you want to eat I recommend heading to town. A 10-12 dollar cab ride will get you there. I don't tip the cab drivers in Cabo. Always ask the price before you go anywhere. In town beers are 1-2 US for Mexican fare. Food is cheap as well.

The staff is great. Skip the free drink or anything else they offer to get you to see the time shares. You'll waste 4 hours. Also pre-book your airport shuttle and then inside the airport don't stop and talk to anyone until your OUTSIDE THE DOORS!!! They are all timeshare people. They will even tell you your going the wrong way. Ignore them!

The spa is overpriced and you should go into town. Got a 50 minute massage for $15 bucks and the place was clean and professional. Also they charge if you want to use the fitness center... Do yourself a favor skip the workout go to the marina and try scuba diving or snorkeling instead.
We had a great time and if you just follow my advice you will too!

We visited in early September and absolutely LOVED this hotel! Our friends were staying at the ME Cabo and they ended up coming over to swim at our pools practically our entire stay! We went a few days after Hurricane Jimena had passed over Cabo. You couldn't even tell there was a hurricane just two days ago. Not a cloud in the sky! The forecast for our week stay predicted scattered showers. It rained only once, really hard, for 10 minutes then it was clear skies. From speaking to the locals, it looks like that's typical for Cabo.

A few things to know before you go:
This hotel is pretty far set from Cabo San Lucas in the fact that you really can't walk anywhere. We rented a car our week there which was great because it saved us on spending $$ on taxi's to and from town. The shuttles the resort has are great to visit the sister hotels but run very infrequently. The car allowed us to go into town whenever we wanted and to visit other areas, like Todos Santos. Be aware: If you have never driven in Mexico BE CAREFUL. Not everyone abides by the rules of the road. The drive into town was about 10 minutes. It was great because we had the best of both worlds: Cabo nightlife when we wanted it and a relaxing escape to paradise on our return.

You cannot swim in the beach and I would not recommend it! The tide is ROUGH and there is a security guard stationed there every day and night (although we caught him sleeping in one of the beach beds one night when my boyfriend and I took a stroll on the beach to see the stars :) It's great for pictures and walking, but you can't walk in the surf nor really get near the water. Great for collecting shells. We even got to let some baby turtles make their way into the ocean! The hotel has some sort of turtle sanctuary and every time the eggs hatch they let them loose. We were lucky enough to share that one night! Great experience. You can visit Medano beach at the Rose or Los Cabos. It's totally different from Pacifica. We were always relaxed when we returned "home." You don't have to deal with vendors on the beach and you get the beach and hotel all to yourself. We visited every Pueblo Bonito: Rose, Los Cabos, Sunset. Pacifica was by far the best.

You HAVE to try La Frida at Sunset. It's pricey, but worth every penny. Also, try Mariscos Matzatlan. It's in town and recommended by the locals. We LOVED the food. Great and inexpensive. $50 for a whole lobster, two crabs, about 20 shrimp and fresh grilled fish to boot! It's their combo plate that my boyfriend and I shared and couldn't even finish! The Shrimp Factory is also great, by Tesoro Los Cabos. A little pricier, but still amazing. Avoid the tourists traps like Lorenzillos and Mi Casa. Have breakfast at the Marina. Great plates and cheap prices!

Overall, enjoyed Cabo San Lucas and can't wait to go back! Lover's Beach is a must but bring towels, sunscreen, water, because there is nothing out there but you and the snorkelers. I was weary about picking Pacifica because of it's distance and it didn't have a swimmable beach. But, I'm glad we did! The service was impeccable and it is SUPER clean. They bust their butts cleaning every day and night. Tip well and get great service. Have fun! Pick Pacifica!

Really enjoyed our stay at the Pacifica. Felt like we had the pools to ourselves. We loved the small round infinity pool and spent most of our time in there watching the waves crash on the beach. Also loved the poolside dining. Great shrimp fajitas. A perfect place to unwind, but we were looking for some more action after a couple of days.

Luckily you can take the free shuttles to the sister resorts in Cabo. We enjoyed checking out the PB Sunset Beach. The beach-side pool was really fun and Frida's was pricey but delicious. Took a day and went to the Medano Beach PB resorts, which is nice to have as an option. Didn't stay long at the Rose (seemed a bit dated/run-down) but enjoyed a wonderful day at the next-door PB Blanco, which had a nice pool and chairs from which we could watch the ocean and all the action on the beach.

Only possible issue is what others had mentioned re: finding shade. We didn't have a problem finding a shady spot by the pool, but I can see why others have complained in the past--with more guests it probably would be an issue.
